Gold does not corrode. Corrosion decreases signal throughput, degrading signal quality. Same reason high throughput PC connectors (SATA etc) are gold plated.

Gold is a very non reactive metal and It will not oxidise which would reduce signal quality.

CISC any day for just general pourpose aplications.
CISC + RISC coprocessing for high volume calculations
RISC for embeded devices
It's really only comes down to whatever you want to learn and for what you want to develop for.

Yes I can field strip an hp laptop of almost any kind or Toshiba in about ten minutes.
It's really not that hard just find a comprehensive manual or hardware diagram and presto. If it's your first time go slow, do not yank or pull on anything and in general be careful and it will go fine.
