If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

So, we were talking TWMs yesterday. Just installed bspwm. Is there any solid documentation for setting up the keybinds?
Not using bspwm myself but afaik sxhkd does the job. Either tryman sxhkdor just check some dotfiles by other people to get some inspiration. There's also: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sxhkd

With voice recognition on phones, vr and leap motion how long till we see a new type of OS?
>>55224034
>new type of OS
Never? Why the fuck would they make a new type of OS when they can just embed voice commands and VR tech in current operating systems? What kind of changes did you think they would make?
>>55224034
In regards to voice recognition? Never.
Voice recognition is slower than any modern UI purely because of how long it takes to say things, especially when it comes to complex, long and verbose commands that are far easier expressed with a bit of code or a series of macro keys.
The next big leap for OS' will be something entirely different, and I don't know if anyone can predict what just yet.

>Why the fuck would they make a new type of OS when they can just embed voice commands and VR tech in current operating systems
Yeah.. what I meant, My bad.
> QBittorrent
15.7 mb setup, 80.4 mb installed
> TransmissionQT (portable)
9 mb setup, 28 mb installed
> utorrent (malware version)
1.7 mb setup
> utorrent 2.2.1
389.87 kb setup
Where did it all go wrong? Why does a torrent client need 15.7 MB of freaking binary bloat? Even the malware ridden utorrent weighs about 2 megabyte. If they are based on libtorrent then why are they so bloated? Can't they just make a torrent client which just downloads torrents? And all other features added with plugins? Is it too much to ask?
this happens when most consumers are illiterate. if you don't want adware and botnet, then the only answer is move to linux. total installed size for rtorrent is 1.61 MiB
Multiplatform software with all dependencies included. Blame Microshaft Wangblows for the shitty library situation. qB is a lot more lightweight on GNU/Linux. Not that it matters though, Eve cheap SSDs are at least 128GB large

>> QBittorrent
>15.7 mb setup, 80.4 mb installed
I read it as stalled first.
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""American"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" innovation
Oh that's Shanghai?
Easily could have been Silicon Valley.
>AYYMD IS SO BANKRUPT, CHINA DOES HARDWARE ENGINEERING, POOSINLOOS DOES SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Looks like Nvidia is the only American company left that does real GPU engineering work in Silicon Valley

Are there any other decent torrent clients? I've been trying out qBittorrent but there were just a few too many problems. I've had my entire torrent list wiped after some unknown reason, and had all of my torrents stuck at "Stalled" without any peers or seeders loading.
I don't want to deal with this client that has so many little problems.
>>55223998
QBT has all the problems you've listed, but not everyone get them right away.
Deluge is fairly heavy on CPU usage, even when idle, uses a ton of RAM and shits itself every so often.
Transmission is almost okay, but feels like its held together by glue.
Tixati and uTorrent are decent but closed source and therefore automatically crap. Some people swear by uTorrent 2.21, but then you're using something both proprietary and ancient.
Rtorrent and KTorrent are unix only so can't recommend them for everyone.
So yeah, there is no brilliant torrent client in 2016 that checks every box.
rtorrent on linux is great
on windows qbittorent is the least shitty
>>55223998
Deluge is fine
ok guys, i was thinking to sell my laptop ( HP pavilion m6-1076la) and make a great build that can run all the games for this generation and the next one and of course when i dont have ethernet play the chess of windows in 60 fps, so which brand i have to choose? Intel or AMD? the problem right now its that a friend told that i just wait for the Zen technology of AMD so the question is, AMD or Intel, or wait to 2017?
Well, there's no reason for you to wait until 2017.
I am also building a new gaming PC, and I have decided to wait until Zen, because it sounds pretty based.
>twice the performance of FX 8350
>twice the cores of Intel
>95W TDP
>much lower cost than Intel
Of course, if it turns out to be shit, then you can always just get an Intel CPU
Intel
I'm not saying AMD is bad, but Intel is clearly superior
>>55224042
Zen is vaporware, go with Intel now.
What is the fastest and most secure browser if I'm using Windows?
pic related, none of these are an option
Firefox has SJW problems and is following in Chrome's footsteps as far as being a botnet goes
it's pretty much the same with Opera
Which browser should I use, /g/?
>secure
>using windows
Maybe a VM browser appliance
>>55223913
links
>>55224029
What?
how fast does your phone charge /g/?
I don't own a pone.
>>55223814
Takes about an hour for my 3000mAh battery.
>>55223814
My 6P takes about an hour if I don't use it while it's charging.
Inb4 desk sag - going to fix this soon
Just moved in about 5 days ago to a new house. Still lots of stuff to do such as wire management. Might get a monitor stand as well.
Loving this long desk though.
remain or leave, which did you lot vote for?
>>55223850
I also just moved into this new apartment about 2 weeks ago, only got this desk setup in the past 3 days though.

This thing is no good for 4k, right?
All I want is 4k freesync, medium settings, average 45fps
>>55223721
4k Medium at 45 FPS?
Sooo my 380, on high settings managed to give 30 FPS at 4K on GTA V...
>>55223744
So then it's a good buy for $200
>>55223721
I'm going the same route RX480 with a FreeSync Monitor.

S7 Exynos pr 6P?
>>55223616
Got some cash to burn from my bday and feel like upgrading from my OPO.
One thing that pissed me off about OPO was the shitty camera, I'm wanting something to at least Iphone 6 standards.
Next preference is battery life, I want something that's going to easily last me a day and then some.
Unlockable boot loader preferred but not essential.
Budget is ~$500aud
>>55223834
The 6P, you'll save a bunch of money, and have a more consistent experience. The 6P is what you want your S7 to be after trying to disable all the bloat. And the battery life is GOAT.
Best ChinkPads?
>>55223602
what I'd like to know is, as some of these are based on x86, can one replace windows and install another OS?
>>55223900
Theorically yes, but maybe you'll need a keyboard to enter the bios/uefi and only stick to ubuntu because it's the only one that has touchscreen support, as i know.
Correct me if i am wrong
>>55223602
Teclast x80 pro.
it's been discussed over 200 times. now fuck off
How does /g/ dress?
Is there a general way you should dress yourself when you work with IT?
I personally just walk around in chinos, t-shirts and sneakers.
>>55223592
Jeans, polo shirts, hiking boots and panties are what I usually wear.
>>55223622
Hiking boots?
Do you live somewhere extremely cold or?
