Anyone here found themselves moving from red hat/centos dominated job, to a debian/ubuntu workplace?

I'm searching for work (sys/linux admin / devops), and I've miraculously have four companies interested, at least for interviews for now.

Two of them are red hat/centos, the other two are predominately or entirely debian/ubuntu.

All of my linux work experience (99.99999%) is red hat and centos. I feel weird about pursing these debian/ubuntu opportunities as if they aren't linux. I've have personal experience with Ubuntu years ago, and I actually like Mint on my laptops. But for server-side stuff, I just feel odd about it. Could be bias and I am much more interested in the two opportunities that are red hat based.

I mean they are essentially the same, just some differences. I think it is also because I'm taking the rhcsa next week and it I kinda feel a bit low about busting my ass studying for it to then get a job where i don't actually use it.

Anyone here feel the same or some encouraging words to get over my stupidity.

Also, I know I don't have to accept an offer from them if I get one, but I am unsure of what to do if lets say one of them gives me an offer that is debian based. I mean the experience will be good. wtf is wrong with me

Performance anxiety.

My advice would be to just jump into the deep end. It's rarely as bad as you first think.
>>
>>55209954
But I do like the challenge of learning new stuff. Hell, the jobs I applied to are above my experience. But I do think there may be some truth to what you say.

It'll look good that I have experience with both red hat and debian on my resume for future prospects so I'll just suck it up.

I am looking to build a NAS server for my house. I haven’t built a computer of any kind since I was in high school so 14 years ago. I have no idea what equipment/parts makers are worth a shit and I don’t have much time to research it. If any of you have any parts suggestions I would really appreciate it. The server will have no other purpose so no need for much in the way of sound or video.
Case
Power source
Main board with Audio and video
Ram
HD’s
No need for any optical drive I will load and FreeNAS from a USB drive.

>>
Get a pre-built NAS box with a self-contained OEM OS. Unless you need very fine-grained management and advanced features, a NAS box from someone like QNAP with a couple of drives will work best for you.

A machine with lots of card expansion for SAS/SATA HBAs. Then add Sans Digital drive storage w/SPF8088 connectors. Add blocks of 4 drives as needed. Use linux software RAID and absolutely not ZFS.

As someone who attempted this on Nexus 4, don't bother

you don't have the special heater used for softening residue, so you'd have to use a hairdryer. It won't heat it up enough and it won't heat it evenly.

You'd have to pry them apart, step by step. Oh wait, you used slightly too much force and now both parts are in pieces.

Just buy a replacement part and get rid of the old one instead of trying to save miniscule amounts of money up

Not worth.

So a guy came up to me asked for help, his windows store was fucked.
Tried the Microsoft Customer Support™ way and it fucked the whole shit. Tried BCD recovery and it fucked it up even more.
Now I saved his files and made a clean install but at setting partitions I accidentally deleted a PBR or something like that partition. How fucked am I? Did I just lose his activation code?

wow op man u have a cool build u r liek so nice and fancy with ur build its so nice and cool hi5!!!

Where can I sell my old phone, I have a LG V10 and I just got it, it's literally in perfect condition. Not any scratches or scuffs and I asked at the TMOBILE store and they said they would only take it back for about 160$ when I just bought it for around 600$ all cash. Is there some other place that I could sell my phone at. I at least want to get 250 out of it, plus I have an extra battery and charging cradle for it and a 200GB SD card

Yeah. I've sold two ThinkPad off of it plus a few other smaller things.

Just be smart about it. Take good pictures, write a good description, and make sure when you receive payment, it is confirmed in your PayPal. I had a lot of chinks buy my shit and try to scam me by asking for my PayPal so they could send me payment and all that shit. So make sure they go through eBay. If you have a hint of doubt - report their fucking asses.

Also, you can try Craigslist. I have never sold on it, but I've bought from it. Then at that point you don't have to pay eBay commissions and you can meet in person. Although make sure to meet at like a coffee shop so you don't get raped.

Those are the only two places I know. My city also has a few popular kikebook buy and sell groups. So you might look at those too.

What does your 4chan look like?

Anybody here into actioncams?

I can get a Polaroid cube or a second hand GoPro Hero 2 for about the same price.
Any idea which is better?
Pros of the Polaroid are that it will still be in warrenty, and new.

Well less than 10% of what they make each quarter. If anything, a resolution would be good for the company, and good for investors. 1 billion seems a bargain to decimate your competition, btw.

Technology encompasses every invention from the stone axe to the quantum computer and yet all you cunts talk about is Graphics Cards, internet memes and Personal computers. What the fuck.

You act like it ain't gonna happen - GP104 is only 320mm2, I guarantee you Nvidia will have a new Titan/1080Ti chip which is about 450mm2

And no, it wont be a cut down or modified GP100, those are very special cards developed literally only for compute work.
