Will we ever get quirky designed technology again?
Or is it bland city from now on?
>>55555382
funny that the makers of that were the ones to later end such thing's existence.
Figures Jobs would be a big enough asshole to transfer his cancer to the rest of us.
Nope. Everything is going to be macbook clones now that jobs is dead.
I want to make the cheapest possible device that meets the 2 specifications:
* Has to run Linux in some capacity, preferably a major distribution (arm is okay)
* Has to have a data port faster than USB2 (pic related has SATA 2.0, that would be good)
Bonuses:
* Onboard WiFi/Ethernet
* x86_64
* Can provide power for whatever storage I plug into it
* more than dual core
Anyone have any suggestions? Suggestions for the storage medium are welcome too, I was thinking a platter drive or maybe an mSATA if I can find a board that supports it and it's over 512GB for cheap.
I'll make a blog post or some other kind of written tutorial once it works on how to make a <100$ backup server with Syncthing and bring it back here.

I searched it, I'm not some kind of inbred, I was just hoping I could go to a discussion board and, you know, discuss things, because often times users of products have more insignt than looking through dozens of specsheets
>>55555441
this. What the fuck is it with people thinking that the purpose of a discussion board is to remind people about search engines.
Why do you use MPV if there is MPC-HC
I don't even know. MPV requires a goddamn dedicated GPU for higher presets because muh quality, and only gaymen retards have dedicated consumer GPUs.
>>55555346
MPV if you're obsessed with getting every single frame to perfection and/or you're obsessed with customization
MPC-HC if you're too lazy to bother with the above
>>55555346
mpv looks cleaner and has a modern icon compared to mpc-hc's glossy trash.
What is this?
>inb4 botnet
I just want to know what the hell it is, why it's priced at 200$,and if it's worth it.

Why don't you just go ahead and google it if you want to know.
There are no tech illiteracy threads, so why not make one?
I'll start:

>you had to buy linux back then because everyone had dial-up
>bought red hat 7

>what is x, y, z, etc.
>eventually asks me if she should take the computer to a service center
>you could of just let me reinstall windows
>a day later she takes it in anyway because she forgot about what i said
>you know the rest of the story

I'm looking for a new small laptop for travel.
I recently bought a Thinkpad T61 because of the Richard Stallman memes, installed Middleton and an SSD, and the whole thing is heavy, and feels clunky and slow. I could probably get around $150 for it with the modifications.
I'm looking for something that runs ubuntu well, is fast, and under 13", budget is under $400. I don't game at all but I'm looking for an i5 or better processor, at least 4GB of RAM. I'm okay with buying an older machine but not something so old it doesn't work properly with the latest LTS.
What do you suggest?
Thinkpad X220.
I'd have suggested an EeePC 1201N (Atom 330/ION) but that's only if you are on a fucktight budget.
>>55555384
Is the x230 any good?
>>55556105
I don't know man. I went from a X220 to a X250 and the "awful keyboard problem" people were talking about isn't THAT much of a problem. I miss the back/next page keys and my usual layout but the new key shape is way better in my opinion.
Though I think there's a difference between the 30 series keyboard and the 40/50 series one, something something about chassis.
i'll start
#include<stdio.h>

Also either use the golden rectangle or 21:9. Anything besides that suks.
Hi /g/. I use Arch and Linux in general for a long time, but I'm a bit bored of it. It's really good, I have a good setup, I like many things about it but I don't really feel productive at all. Most of the software on Linux is destinated to developers and the few that are for video and photo editing lack features or have bugs. How is Windows 10? I'm thinking about installing it, but I don't like all that botnet. I don't know what the fuck I should do, Linux doesn't inspires me to be productive, Windows is a bit botnet. I really need some opinions right now. I could sell my data but at least do something useful.
Pic not related
If you're sick of arch, you probably should move to OpenBSD for unparalleled productivity.
>>55554880
Just install Windows 7 and don't install the 3 bad updates (or more ifk). W10 literally does nothing better than it
