AMD might have an edge in DX12 and Vulkan games, but no game uses those yet. DX11 performance it what matters today, and will be for the next few years. When DX12 and Vulcan finally start mattering, Nvidia has closed the gap. We might even have DX13 by then. DX12 could end up like DX10.

Also because AMD doesn't even have high end cards, Nvidia is still faster in DX12.

I bought a Dell (yeah yeah I know) laptop last year and it's a total piece of shit. Mushy keyboard that's sometimes unresponsive, grainy webcam that looks like it's from 2006, screen is getting a bright spot that's enveloping the entire left side, and the list goes on. It sounded nice when I bought it and it's got 8 gigs of ram, a terabyte hard drive, and an okay cpu and gpu, but holy shit this thing sucks. My laptop from 10 years ago is better than this one.

What's a good laptop for normal use? I was thinking about getting a Thinkpad, but I heard that the quality has declined recently.

Any suggestions under $550?

are there any LCD monitors that even come close to the feeling of a CRT? I plugged in my old CRT recently and it raped my 120hz IPS when it came to gaming picture clarity, I barely even want to play any games on it anymore because it just looks like a blurry mess compared to the CRT.


CRT isn't pic-related, otherwise I'd be using it instead.
