Daily remainder that if you aren't programming in a high abstract language you're a dirty fucking peasent and you represent everything that is wrong with the software industry.

Daily reminder that high level languages are fucking brain damage. Languages like C++14/17, D, and Rust offer all the same features at a much lower cost, and are just as simple to program in. They also allow you to actually control how your program works, and how much memory it consumes.

When ever you write something in Haskel, Scala, Lisp, Scheme, or Arc you invalidate all hardware performance gains of the past 20 years.
>>
>>56532445
Scala and Scheme, sure, but Common Lisp with a backend like SBCL is ridiculously fast for a high level language. Java's raw CPU performance with none of the obscene memory or storage usage or long startup times.
Haskell is a meme language, but its speed is also decent.

Why

How come they couldn't at least put 2 lightning ports on this bitch?

And don't tell me it's because people would plug in 2 chargers at the same time. (They could do the same with the splitter too)

Owned an iPhone since 3G never once had it plugged in at the same time I was wearing headphones.

Deal with it.

I was wondering if it's worth it to build a cheap laptop or if I should just drop $150 on some pre-built overpriced junk at Best Buy?

I need to be able to run all of the following on it at the same time over wifi

>VoIP (skype, teamspeak)
>youtube videos
>spotify
>windows media player

All this work for $150 doesn't seem worth it

What does /g/ think?

Hello technobots,

I think I should upgrade my HD7850. DOOM does play at 30+FPS, but I'd want a bit more. As I'm not even claiming to be a pro gramer, I have no need for top-tier cards. Recommend me something I could get used for around 100€ which would be better than the 7850.

I bought a dell ultrasharp u2515h and im trying to use dp 1.2 with my r9 290.
But i keep getting black screens every once in a while, i dont know if the problem is related to the monitor or GPU.

Anyone else had this kind of problem before? Also does using 1.2 above 1.1 actually make difference? Because i have no problems when using 1.1

>>56532173
its a known defect of the monitor.

People on the dell forums state its issues with AMDs current CCC and drivers, however i have laptops with both intel and Nvidia Gpus and have the same issue if DP1.2 is enabled to allow daisy chaining.

i also notice that for whatever reason, using the USB hub on the monitor directly affects the frequency of the random 2-3 second black outs.

if DP1.2 is utilized in the display settings, AND i have anything plugged into 1 of the 5 USB ports, it WILL flicker.

Either using DP1.1 standards, or unplugging the USB3 input to the monitor resolves the flickering. Issues DO NOT happen if using HDMI

honestly, I regret the purchase now as 4k monitors from dell are only 20 bucks more than what this 1440p screen retails for on their own website.

I get flickering even if i dont use the USB hubs

Does 1.2 have any advantages over 1.1 in video quality?

Shitposting and shilling aside, why are Apple's CPUs just so much more powerful than everyone else? On all the same benchmark equipment they use the A-series just crushes Snapdragon/Exynos/Tegra etc, honest question why is it so much better than the competition?

>>
>>56531899
OMFG you're so retarded...the cpu in iphones is MADE BY SAMSUNG
>>
Single Core Performance =/= "More Powerful"

Yes, apple's chips usually benchmark better in mobile apps, as mobile apps do not make use of additional cores.

If you never multitask and switch phones before apple cripples it with the next iOS then you are golden.
>>
>>56531899
Because Jim Keller designed them.

What's reasonable to sell a perfectly functioning, albeit a bit dusty, computer for? Market price -25%?

The parts have been replaced over time, so some of them are newer than others. I'm selling all my crap to head out of country.

>>
Market price new? You wanna go like 40% off the new price, depending on the upgrades you did, how old it is, and demand.
>>
>>56531892
Sell it for more than you paid to some rube.
>>
>>56531970
40% off? Ouch.

Oldest part of it is the motherboard, which is a ASRock Z77 Extreme3. Processor is an i5 3570k with a mild OC to 4GHz, but can be pushed to a stable 4.5GHz with enough tweaking. 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 RAM. MSI 980 GPU. A 254GB SSD, 1TB HDD, and some random smaller HDD's which I didn't want to include in the price. Also have a 1440p display and two 1080's that I'd sell separately.

For people saying Apple will fail because the lack of headphone jack

Consider 2 things

1. The decision the remove the jack might not be the best for the customer right now but its good for the manufactures. That is how business works, people will have to buy new things and this new market (lightning and BT headphones) is more profitable.

2. Apple and iPhones have a huge influence on the north american market, with almost half of the marketshare, and they are the most important tech market in the world.

Face it, one year from not it will be just as common to see lightning ports on audio devices as 3.5mm jacks and there will be a huge variety of bluetooth headphones available.

Apple isn't pushing for the consumer audio market to go Lightning; they're pushing for it to go fully wireless with more sophisticated and higher-quality BT headphones.

The Lightning EarPods are just a stopgap.
>>
>>56531732
>lightning ports on audio devices
Ah yes just like firewire is on everything too!

apple doesn't even put them on their other products, if anything USBC will be common

Proprietary bullshit and standardization breaking isn't a positive and should not be encouraged by anyone who isnt a shill or full of buyers remorse, fuck off and stop defending retarded decisions by a tax dodging company who does not give a fuck about you.

B-but, the home button has haptic feedback!

Face it iCucks, Apple has long been dead, it is only just now that people have noticed it.
