I'm about to head out and have breakfast in some cozy inner city waffle place. Like one of those hipsters with their macs. Except I don't have a mac.

Question: Is it safe to log into paypal and web applications on the public wifi of these cafes? I have quite a bit of money on paypal and rely on it pretty fucking heavily.

Plz respond

Well, consider the fact that I, a moron, could host a Wi-Fi hotspot under a name such as STARBUCKS-PUBLIC and steal everything you enter.
>>
>>56525882

paypal always does from what I've observed. is this really sufficient? can't someone intersect data somehow and crack my password or smth?

Can we delete the Stallman sticky already?

It hearkens back to a different era of /g/ that no longer represents the userbase of this board. By now, most people on /g/ have come to realize what a talentless hack he is.

How about the same sticky, but with pic related? Or Gerald Sussman? Or some other memetic character who has actually *done something* for the world?

Hey /g/

Finally reasonably in the market to get a new laptop- new job, need to travel.

I used to have a T61p for about 7 years until it up and died after a flight, but it was my favorite thing until then. I'm looking for a replacement, though it seems none are like that anymore, keyboard or otherwise.

Is there any current model that would be good to look at? Around the $1500 range on Amazon I see a few, most differing on the SSD or the GPU in the upper range I guess.
Sadly I'm in a bit of a time constraint (hence Amazon), so I need to get something quick, and figured I'd stick with Thinkpad if the're still viable.

Any thoughts/opinions? Thanks

No reason to shell out that much cash on anything that you're not gonna be gaming on. T420 with upgraded RAM and CPU as you see fit is gonna be your best bet.
>>
>>56525801
Well, might do some gaming on it if it has to be a desktop replacement for a serious portion of time (which it might). My other thought is if using it for work things, which would be some heavier rendering and modelling, so not sure
>>
>>56525801
I got just a T430 with I-5 ivy(2.60, 8 gig of ram, 320 gig ssd for 270 on newegg.

so why does he say it is with an acid?

is he baiting the media to latch on what he says wrong to make him look uninformed?
thats just gonna end up with them playing a clip over and over again that is him saying what she did wrong.

it sounds like he is baiting.

I've been rooted for a while, but I always knew there was more.
Had a spare droid 4 laying around so I decided to grow some balls and try installing Cyanogenmod for the first time.
Been to scared to do it to my main in case I brick the device.
I'm so glad I did. It's so free and clean and nice. I can do anything I want and everything can be changed to my liking.
So anyway... I've got some apps like adaway and a hacked pandora one, and I need to get around to installing the zip for xposed module so I can run youtube red for free, but what are the real must haves for CM?

CM is dogshit. Why? I'll fucking tell you, this is the internet.

CM is updated for hundreds of devices, and most of them have nothing more than buggy, fucked up nightly releases.

Get a rom made by a smaller dev team who dedicate their efforts on it and it alone. You'll appreciate the difference.

I have a problem /g/entoomen, I bought a samsung galaxy pro tab 8.4 (sm-t320) 3 years ago and it's gathering dust.
I've tried looking on the internet and their doesn't seem to be much info on it, What can I do with it? Can I rice it up? Is
there a proper way to install BASH on this thing? Can any cool "pentesting" stuff be done with it?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Loan it to someone and never ask for it back.
>>
If you can root it, you might be able to get a ROM with bash on it.

If by "pentesting" you're talking about Wi-Fi stuff, it's unlikely - you need special drivers for promiscuous mode.
>>
>>56525978
You don't need to root to use bash.
Hell you don't even need bash to run shell scripts you can use adb.

I have crimped countless cat7 cables. But I crimped this one, and it's 100 feet long. I was getting a clear signal before I cut off the head. Now I patch a Jack, and I'm not getting a single signal on any of the cables. What is going on?

what are you expectin of this new tech?
Here is my question, should I wait to end of year to see the benchmarks of the architecture AM4, or I should go to the classic I5 6600.

>>
>>56525449
Do you need an upgrade right now? Then don't wait.

Personally I'm waiting for zen. If it's anywhere near as good as they claim it is, then I'll probably bite. Mostly because I don't want to feed the intel jew and my i7 920 is not as snappy as it used to be. Anyway the point is that it's not going to be some revolutionary new architecture that will wipe the floor with current processors.
>>
>>56525491

The problem is I don't have a PC for gaming since half an year, and if i want to build a new one for the new processor i must wait to the motherboards AM4 tech compatible

I thought one of the more clever audio techniques was pre-emphasis in audio tape where you boost the part of the eq where the tape is noisiest when you record and then you notch that part of the eq on playback.
>>
>>56525608
yea that's what dolby NR is basically based on
>>
I'm into vintage audio stuff in general. I have the opportunity to buy a Roberts 771x, which is essentially an akai m9 reel to reel for $25, but I'm not sure if it works, and I do not have any tapes for it.

I heard that this unit is not particularly good, but was unable to find a reason why. I also heard that reel to reel stuff can be sort of a money pit.

Should I go for it, or should I trust my judgement?

Don't even try to pretend that you didn't know this was inevitable. Apple was bound to do it sooner or later, and the industry will follow it. Headphone manufacturers (as Apple + Beats wanted it) will see this new opportunity to capitalize on this new wireless headphone gold rush and take it to heart. Because of this, expect the development of wireless audio technology to explode and skyrocket like never seen before.

Goodnight, 3.5mm. From the 1800's you have served us well, but this is 2016, and technology has to advance.
