Google are pretty scummy but Microsoft would do the same if they had the chance.
How do you apply thermal paste /g/?
What are your typical results?
I'm not saying "i don't know how pls halp" I'm asking what technique you ne/g/roes use to perfect the thermal paste application.
>>56527535
One small tube of thermal past is a single serving size for the CPU. Just empty the tube in the middle of it and when you put on the fan it will spread.
>>56527535
Personally I do a small X on the CPU. Not from end to end, just a small X. Works well for me and provides better all-round spread than a line does because it lends itself more to a circular shape anyway.
As for GPU? You NEED to put on LOTS, in a 5 or 6 point star shape.
>>56527535
basically like that picture. honestly, unless you use WAY too much or WAY too little it will have literally no impact. it's easy to worry about but it's honestly something that has a ridiculous tolerance either way.
So since Samsung fucked up, what is the best big screen phone to get as of late? 5.5"+ specifically.

So, quick question; My computer has been shutting down when I play FFXIV for a little while. I can play Overwatch for hours on end, but FFXIV no. I've done a deep clean of the CPU, GPU, Fans, Tower, etc. I even bought a new Heat Sync for my CPU, but its honestly done nothing as far as I can tell to lower the temp of my CPU. Now, i'm not sure what is wrong, but even now recently, when I start my computer, after the inital Windows logo, it freezes for a good 3-5 seconds (after cleaning the GPU, was around 10-12) and it always seems to need to reinstall my mouse driver. Whats wrong?
TL;DR
Computer shuts down after a hefty load, not sure what it is. New heatsync installed, and everything clean.
Install Gentoo.
check the wattage on your PSU, should be on the label, then check the wattage requirement for your CPU, GPU, and other peripherals. This is done easily by looking them up on pcpartpicker and adding all the parts in your computer to a parts list. Odds are your computer (specifically your GPU) is drawing more wattage than your PSU can supply. Get a PSU with ~100 more watts than what your computer uses at max.
reinstall windows to fix the mouse driver, probably
install gentoo
Where are people more productive in general, Windows or Linux?
>>56527128
In the office
>>56527128
Linux definitely. Much less random diversions or popups, all libraries are usually a breeze to install and starting something is not as much of an barrier.
Productivity starts with you, not with what you're using.
Did I do good?

Considering switching to linux, is the loss of drivers a big deal though?
Motherboard manufacturer only offers chipset and onboard audio drivers in windows. I guess sound will be shit no matter what in linux but is the chipset performance loss large?
>>56527019
Yeah, sure.
If your laptop has specific shortcuts or custom keys that dont work without installing drivers on Windows, they definitely wont on Linux. You can bet your ass there are no drivers for that kind of shit.

Dear god, that looks like such a time to be alive.
Need gaming pc advice. My pc runs perfectly fine, passes stress tests and everything. However, when playing games I can only play around 10 mins before my pc completely and instantly shuts down and starts up again. Some games cause this restart immediately upon launch. Doesn't even have to be a demanding game. Any ideas or suggestions about what might be causing this?
I had this problem a while back, I went in and made sure all connectors were seated correctly and made sure I want placing too many devices on single rails from my psu.
Splitting my hard drives onto two rails seemed to fix it.
Could have just been a coincidence and one of the connectors was loose though, not happened since in about 6 months since I messed with it.
Might not be relevant to your problem, but it was a similar kind of problem in that so far into games my PC works just restart without warning
>>56527177
This was my thought. Are you daisy chaining everything off one wire from your PSU. If you get happy with all the extra cables and start splitting off split cables you'll shut down when you draw too much.
Almost definitely your PSU or your motherboard may not support your CPUs wattage
Yes, we know everything already is from China but in here we discuss the no/low-name cheap shit you see on Gearbest, AliExpress, eBay and similar sites.
