Hey /g/. I'm a sound dork. I record noises in analog formats and keep stacks of tapes in my garage.
I'm ready to make the switch to digital recording and editing because I've had people ask if I would start posting my stuff online.
I used to work in the music industry, so I have a good knowledge of the hardware side, but I know nothing about current programs.
I want a program to process and edit sounds - not make goofy electronic music, actually deal with existing sounds.
What are my options? Things like Abelton and anything else that come up from google searches seem very music creation oriented.

DAWs are just tools, you use them for doing what you want.
If you want to "make goofy electronic music" you can. If you want to "process and edit sounds" you can.
If you want to ask for advice and then disregard it you can too but that would make you a bit of a faggot

Architecture details on AMD's upcoming VEGA seems to have leaked out, specifically the the contents of their CU(4 of these pictures make a single CU, so 8 raster units per CU if AMD keeps to the number of 64 ALUs per CU like they've been doing) layout.
The largest obvious change is dumping 2 vector ALUs for 2 larger scalar ALUs, this is a pretty huge change since AMD has historically kept to vector ALUs for the entire chip(as Nvidia has kept to scalar ALUs for their entire chip), so mixing the two was a no-go.
This would have immense benefits for practically all workloads, but as always, the devil is in the details, and that is software and AMD has problems there.
Otherwise, structure and configuration of SIMD units is entirely new. Each SIMD is now capable of simultaneously processing variable length wavefronts. It also includes clever new coherency features to ensure peak stream processor occupancy in each compute unit at all times and reduce access times to cache and HBM.
I'm kinda hype, it's a completely new architecture that can either be total shit or amazing, this is interesting, not just increasing shader count every gen with better power management.

Really basic and simple with very small codebase so you can modify it easily.
Only the basics features , render HTML , and maybe javascript support that can be totally disabled at will.
Easy to spoof an randomize your user agent , don't tell web pages what plugins and build/sub version are you using,
no support for cookies.
Focused on extream simplicity , privacy and customization
So basically something like w3m+GUI or wget+HTML renderer.

guys, this is insane, it's 2016 and i have a problem with spam.
i periodically recieve some shit from russian bots in a form of popup window "message from $botname", even though i have privacy please installed. it does block the proper conversation window messages, but this fucking window is driving me nuts. there's also a second window with "delivery failed from $botname".

now, i use email notification from gmail, and i think bots are actually attacking those accounts, and not the actual xmpp one.
