Do you use an SSH client? Or are you just so goddamned leet that you use the terminal?
I was using Bitvise on Windows and now I'd like to find a good alternative now that I'm "doing Linux".
Otherwise, SSH thread.
Cathode for iPhone
just works etc
OpenSSH is my ssh client. Or mosh when my connection isn't stable.

something wrong with putty?
Sup anons my HTC m8 is kill finally and I'm using a shitty backup phone now. What you people using and what's the best phone for the price atm. I'm looking at a one plus 3 but as I found out last night 5.5 inches is too much for me ; (

Dude get it anyway, I got mine about 2 months ago and I love it. The only problem for me is that the volume and sleep buttons are directly opposite from eachother, so on occasion I hit both.
Hey /g/, I need an invention idea by Monday for my class. It has to be something that could really be made and hasn't been done already. It could also be a business plan of sorts but there has to be some STEM involved.
Pic unrelated because Im phoneposting.

black hats have tainted the cloud for their nefarious uses. how will we solve it OP?
What's the point of buying a VPN, /g/? Isn't a VPS more convenient? You can run a SOCKS proxy on it via SSH and use it for anonymization (same as a VPN), but you also have a 24h server at your disposal.
Am I missing something?
I'd assume a vpn is cheaper
Recently bought PIA for 1 year. I'm happy with it.
>>56968821
>Am I missing something?
you don't
ssh is superior due to it can use 25519 curve kex with chacha20-salsa cipher, it is also fucking effective and secure, openssh came from based Theo, that guy is awesome, you can trust him.
many vpn's rely on tls cert authorities, which means C U C K E D, you can't trust over 20+ authorities around the globe and feel secure.
What language did he write that in?

Why does it exist?
it doesnt exist on my keyboard
>>56968792
micro keyboards (~88 keys) arent real keyboards
all full size keyboards have them

What does it even do?
>be IT
>small place of business
>coworker asks me for some help with something
>sure I guess
>setting up a presentation, needs help with powerpoint file, needs to be ready by tomorrow morning
>lol he hasn't even started
>wind up having to make the whole file with person getting frustrated and demanding changes and saying "no, not like that youre doing it wrong" when I did exactly what they asked
>guy winds up saying "you know what? I think I can do it myself. Thanks for wasting my time" to me
>youdungoofed.webm
>guys still working on his stuff 6 hours later
>send a shutdown /f to his machine
>he never saved
>hear him freaking out
>guy winds up literally throwing the computer tower out into the hallway in a fit of rage
>dont even feel bad about it, just keep playing shitty mobile games on my phone while i wait for people to send in support requests
Am I going to hell?
No, end users can be ungrateful shits at times. Good job.
Did you psexec in or remote computer manage and add a shutdown task?
>>56968621
pstools for psexec. only reason I had it is because I used it to push and run small shit on all our machiens before.
I got more fun shit that's happened here if anyone's interested.
I just started reading effective modern C++ (C++11 and 14 update book) and it got me thinking, why does Stourstroup insist in adding even more to the core language instead of developing the native library?
I would honestly rather have a more complete repertoire of native functionality (simple 2D renderer, terminal options, C++ sockets, pretty much all of libboost etc). I've been working as a C/C++ dev for 3 years now, and even those I work with that have more than a decade experience barely use most of C++11 features, its just too fucking massive, and they're already coming up with C++14. Even Stoustroup himself said he uses maybe 80% at most of the language on his projects.
Whats the reason behind this?
nooblet C++ programmer bump for interest
If there weren't so many libraries doing that already they probably would.
The thing is that C++ is used in everything, literally everything. So there has to be some use for some of its more complex features.
>>56968575
I don't think this is an appropriate question for the /g/ community. You probably won't get anything but memes and people shittalking C++.
I am in the same boat as you and have to agree though. Maybe he's addressed it at a conference?
>notice windows explorer using 40% cpu at all times
>must be a virus.exe
>run all sorts of anti-virus bullshit programs
>revert my windows to stone age
>still 40% usage
>delete a shortcut without an icon from desktop
>0% usage
>QUALITY wangblows code was looping some shitty code regarding windows desktop icons and hogging 40% of my cpu all day
so this.. is the power of closed-source...
Now you know why people don't use desktop icons.

Just got one of these bad boys, does anyone know if there's a storage limit. I've been using a 8gb microsd for RetroPie. Can a 64gb card work on it?
>>56968346
bump for interest
>>56968386
Thanx senpai
You can use sdxc cards, so 64GB will definitely work. I have one set up with OSMC (Kodi) and Retropie on a 128GB card, it works like a dream.
Is there a way to partially lock an SD card? As in, can I put files on one, lock those files onto it so they can't be deleted or modified, but still have the rest of the space be useable as normal?
yeah you partition it and encrypt the partition you want to keep stuff on
>>56968230
How does microsoldering make you feel?
>>56968248
Would that screw anything up with access of it in, say, a phone? Would the encrypted partition be accessible while the phone could do other stuff like taking pictures on it without having to manually switch between partitions? I tried digging around online and couldn't figure that out.
I'm currently steaming how to install Arch and other complete ramblings.
Maybe anyone is interested in this.

>Anybody have this router?
How's the security on this router? That's my only real concern in getting a new router. I'm upgrading from a Linksys WRT54G.
In exchange for some decent replies, I will get myself banned. This is important.
Use an old pc as a pFsense box and just set your wifi router as an access point.

Not bad. I'll wait for a few more replies then get myself banned.
http://www.jakoblell.com/blog/2013/10/30/real-world-csrf-attack-hijacks-dns-server-configuration-of-tp-link-routers-2/
I'd stray away from TP-Link, personally.
Honestly, I'd get any router I know I can put custom firmware on. My personal choice is ToastMan Tomato.
Don't expect security out of the box, you'll need to put in some effort.
