I've got archlinux mounted to a usb right now but looking at the installation guide I don't really understand whats happening at the "Partition the disk" section, am I supposed to understand whats happening?
What is the actual difference between Archlinux and Gentoo? What are the distributions meant for? Is Gentoo just a meme because its very hard to install as people say?
Is there any easy guide that explains what happens and how to install Archlinux? Don't really understand what im doing except copy+pasting commands to the shell
p.s I was wanting to install Archlinux on a USB, not an actual sdd/hdd does this still werk? cause I have ubuntu that does this
install solus

Anyone could tell me the best way to learn Ethical Hacking? Is there any Website? Underground School of Hacking?
here's your task: hack into a neighbors wifi network using aircrack. now go learn how wifi works, learn the osi layers, and read the aircrack documentation. there you go, you'll be fine.
>>57626138
modern "hacking ethics" classes will just teach you a bunch of politically correct bullshit, and justify NSA spying on people and talk about how copying files is STEALING and is BAD and how you should be subservient to the government and just females in general.
Fuck all of that liberal garbage.
We need to get them out of our fucking country.
Ethical hacking should be learned from Edward Snowden, Julian Assange, Gottfried Svartholm, and that tranny bitch that released those documents, whatever they were.
The time to UNKEK is NOW.

and of course our lord and savior Richard "dick" Matthew Stallman
Lots of these on ebay. Are they good?

Yes.
Don't be fucktard and buy a workstation from 20 years ago and expect it to be fast, though.

What is the absolute best value for money phone? New or secondhand, any OS.
A secondhand flagship phone.
Do not buy a shady brand with no support, zero community and hard to fix.
Get a used Nexus 5. You can get one for ~$100 and they are decent

I recently decided to do a permanent switch from proprietary software Windows 10 to free software GNU/Linux Kubuntu. I've been using it for about two weeks now and I am really in love with it. I would like to see more about GNU/Linux. KDE looks great, but I am still looking for trying out other nice-looking desktop environments. KDE sometimes glitches out and gets all screwy, which sometimes disappoints me. I am looking to try a new, cool distro.
Can you just pick a distro for me? I'm just so fucking undecided. I want to find the distro that gets shit done, looks super nice and doesn't shit itself with graphical bugs.
Distros I've tried:
- Gentoo (yes, I ran it for a while. I uninstalled it after a few days of use because I couldn't bear compiling things from source all the time. It was time consuming.)
- Fedora (not supported by my graphics card, results in terrible resolution)
- [UKLX]buntu (using Kubuntu right now. Uninstalled Ubuntu because Unity was too complicated; Xfce was boring and so was LXDE)
- Arch Linux (time spent fixing problems would rather be spent doing work)
- openSUSE (zypper is weird)
- CentOS (I didn't actually get much interest in this distro. It doesn't seem like there's anything that stands out about it.)
- Debian (software is old, using testing repos fucked my installation)
- Ubuntu MATE
- Linux Mint
- Tails
- Kali Linux
Distros I'm considering trying:
- Trisquel (might not support my graphics card which only runs well with proprietary drivers)
- Solus (some are suggesting this is malware)
- Elementary OS
- Antergos (sounds like the best option right now)
- ArchBang (not sure if this is still maintained)
Distros I will not use for daily things:
- Fedora
- Gentoo
- Slackware
- Kali Linux

>Solus (some are suggesting this is malware)
this is literally just autistic oldfags afraid of change.
Solus is an amazing beginner distro.
>>57626174
Nice try kevinnet
>>57626191
>it's a good distro, therefore it's spam
Nice logic there bud.
Also good job noticing the super obvious false flag.
Why are people so desperate to shoehorn javascript where it shouldn't be? Why do you think it's necessary to fork an ENTIRE GODDAMN WEB BROWSER so you don't need to learn a real language like C or Python?
>>57625859
Python is even worse than Javascript and you try writing a cross platform GUI in C.
>>57625859
i don't know electron would be pretty chill if it didn't include 320 niggerbytes of bloat with every app I want to release. javascript/css/html is comfy as fuck to develop apps with

It's a nice even number
it's a multiple of 10
you can divide it by 5 evenly
it's not an odd number
it's an even number
it's not a prime number
it's not too big of a number, but it's not too small either

>10 yr old me thinks this is a virus
>start vomiting spaghetti all over the screen while concurrently shitting my pants
>eventually calm down, figure out how to finish installing the science software
>realize i used my 1337 hacker skills to hack into the mainframe and downloaded new software
>10 year old me is stoked beyond reason
>that summer my dad and I built a computer after he saw how much I loved computers
Ever since then, I've loved working with and on computers. I'm now starting my second year as a software engineer after graduation.
i got started with win95 that and the dirty white compaq case, the whole thing in and out
I know no one cares, but I'll go into extreme detail.
>Be me
>Kind of like computers
>YouTube "how to build a computer"
>Watch entire 30 minute video
>Watch various other videos
>Fast forward a while
>Always knew my dad had old towers lying around but never bothered.
>It's a shame too because he put then outside for the elements to destroy.
>Tinker with them
>Brother shoots a DDR RAM stick with his BB gun
>Get pissed
>Take apart water damaged computers for fun
>Discover a cool site called PCPartPicker
>Do shit tons of research and put build lists together online
>Dad has another old Dell Dimension
>Ask if I take it apart
>He says yes, I take it apart and out back together
>I look inside of his working PC, no video card
>"Dadanon, why isn't there a graphics card?"
>"Because I don't have one"
>"Then how does it run?"
>Dad is getting annoyed at this point
>It's inside of the processor, it's called a APU
>"Ohhhhh okay"
>Notice it doesn't have a exhaust fan
>For some reason I like the thought of good airflow
>Go outside, find old 120mm fan from the old PCs
>Ask dad if I can out it in his PC
>He says yes, we find the sys fan mount on the Mobo
>Plug it up, works great.
>Fast forward to now
>I'm really good at PCs, I want to open my own computer repair shop
>Do research everyday even though I know it all
>Build budget lists on PCPP
>Mfw this don't have my own PC
>Hi, so today I wanna talk about..
Is there a /g/ related subject that (almost) doesn't get talked about here that you wish /g/ would talk about more?
name the subject, and give your own opinion/argument on it.

Strawberry milk
I like it.
What's the last piece of tech that you bought that you almost immediately regretted?
I bought a Surface Pro and fucking hated everything about it. Gave it a week trying to adjust but just couldn't and returned it.
What about you? What did you regret buying? Extra points for buying something expensive.
What was the matter with it that it needed "adjusting" to?
>>57625510
keybard, screen, build quality.. all shit.
>>57625638
Anything specific besides "it's shit"? Build quality and screen are just ambiguous. I mean, expect the keyboard to be shit since it's built into a screen cover.
