Should I buy it, fa/g/s?
Does someone have experience with these?
If you don't mind 1GB of RAM it should be okay.
Considering your PC is 14 years old it might be a lot faster for tasks such as web browsing.
What specs exactly are we talking about?
I still don't think that rbpi makes a good replacement for a pc

OP here,
I only need it for basic office functions (LibreOffice), browsing and watching videos.
My old PC has only 512 mb RAM and a more "recent" (around 2009) Processor.

Xubuntu or Ubuntu Mate are the only serious Linux desktops for the home user. Everything else is a meme.
Indeed, there are only a handful of real Linux distributions at all.

Well shit, that's it. How about that.

Memes to one extent or another, even though they are used to create the real distros.
V60 or Pok3r?
Get a real keyboard, fruit
I'm considering buying one of them, so I'm curious.

I'm finally getting around to building an overkill gaming pc and don't really have any knowledge of parts and stuff.
Is this list of parts a good way to go for a high end pc? or is there some things that are unnecessary or bad?

also I'm getting pic related in january just a heads up

Know the following:
>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before, though most claims of being staff are false
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>sneaky bastards will try to convince you that cheating can be evaded. It can't and you will be banned and everyone will laugh at you
>people claim to report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.

Getting ratio on Emp seems to be ridiculously easy. Made an account 3 days ago, downloaded some FreeLeech and up to 150GB of buffer already.

Stable and developer are still laggy as shit, but Nightly seems just as fast as Chrome. Literally no UI lag at all in Nightly. They must be doing something right.

I just want to say fuck macbook pro's. I've had this piece of shit for almost 5 and a half year now and the bastard finally gave in. Here are some things you can expect from your laptop as it ages.
>charges only when it wants to
>sometimes you have to sit on the charging brick like a hen to warm it up
>randomly shuts down when you unplug the charger
>a new charger costs 70$ and third party ones may break your computer
>slow as fuck just using firefox, word, itunes, etc
>loud as fuck fan even when watching youtube videos
What were they thinking?
>>57617895
Cool story bro, but I've had my MBA for 3.5 years now, and have experienced no sign of any of the above. I'm all good. Thinking of using it for another three years.
>>57617895

When they were designing the UI for Workbench they chose colors that would look best on the worst television they could find. They actively hunted for it, and paid more for that than a better one, simply so they could have a benchmark to work from.
The first webpage, on the first website, opens promising "universal access." And Tim Berners-Lee declared at the Olympics that the web was "for everyone."
Yet today we have software writers using the entirety of up-to-date hardware for meagre tasks, and the web, which has ballooned in size, is out of the reach of the bandwidth and computers of many people who would benefit most from access to it.
Even on /g/ anyone that doesn't buy the "latest and greatest" is considered an outcast.
When did technology become so elitist?
What are you talking about? Tech hasn't been cheaper and more capable. A $200 tablet will do most of what people want
>>57617522
Note that I didn't specify first worlders, nor does anything I said specify them, other than the lament that they are the one target audience.
>>57617559
That couldn't be more wrong. Tech is extremely accessible even for people not privileged enough to live in first world countries. I don't know what rock you've been living under, but a huge amount of people in developing countries have access to Internet and own electronic devices. Something like 30% which really is quite something.
An absolutely impoverished person does not benefit from electronics in the slightest. When you're worrying about MAYBE fucking eating the internet is the least of your worries

hi /g/ents, I have a fresh install of Arch Linux. I haven't used Linux for a good eight years, so I'm a bit rusty..
I have a question, what is /g/'s window managers of choice? I looked on the Arch Linux wiki and there seems to be a lot of selections. I thought I should consult /g/'s collective wisdom and see what your thoughts are about window managers.
The "official" /g/ WM is i3, or i3-gaps if you want to be even more autistic
