Is cyberspace a utopia or a dystopia?
>>58166323
It depends on what WE make of it.
>>58166323
It's neither, there is not supposed to be anyone or anything centrally controlling it. It's supposed to be decentralized and controlled by everyone.
>>58166323
Cyberspace is basically networks allowing us to transfer data to any point in the world. As a utopia, it would abolish territories on the cyberspace (through blockchain, such as Twister (http://twister.net.co), Freenet (https://freenetproject.org), Bitmessage (https://bitmessage.org)). At the moment, these points belong in 95% to 5 companies.
Got 3 years of McAfee for $15, how bad is it actually?
it is malware
I used to develop McAfee Endpoint Encryption 5 years ago.
It is indeed useless bloatware for huge amount of money. Some huge companies use it, but for personal usage it's a huge waste of money.
>>58166313
Kaspersky or Bitdefender are better choices.
THIS is why I use a Macbook
get a laptop with one that isn't a mac you dumbass
>>58166295
Those trackpads are seriously overrated I had a mac for 4 years and they are honestly the worst. I used to really like them when I first used it but after awhile I started to hate it.

Okay /g/ I'm gonna need some help. I own a PS4 slim and was given a stealth 520 headset for Christmas. It isn't working, because I need something optical cord, I'm not good at this kind of stuff any ideas? Would this work?

It's like you guys have so much friends that you go out with, that you never casually play a game.
Ever played this, /g/?
It's a programming puzzle game using a fictional language similiar to Assembly.

I got the Linux version and it looks amazing.
>>58167244
Oh, finally someone replied. I have it too, but still haven't played it. It seems the devs have other similar games. Shenzen I/O has some circuit building iirc.
>>58167261
Reminds me a little of the hacking mini game from FreedroidRPG, was pretty cool.
Shenzen is supposed to be hardware building too, haven't try it though.

broadcom.
no, you're right that no one forced me, but is it not the majority opinion here that everyone would benefit from moving to GNU/Linux?
I've always been using Debian as my main OS and I was thinking to kick things up a notch. Anything is good but I'm a little bit scared of leaving APT.
How about manjaro or suse?
>inb4 gentoo (which is actually a not bad idea)
I think you would like manjaro better. It has way more packages than apt. When I used Arch (which is a horrible hackjob) I only stayed because the package manager is quite good and the AUR is great.
Manjaro is pretty good desu
And access to AUR is gold
>>58166000
Manjaro is v. comfy. I'm currently running it, and there has been zero issues for about a year now.

Only a terrorist turns off his computer. If you aren't dong anything wrong, you should have noting to hide.
It's a new security feature. How do you expect to them to keep your PC safe from security threats if you won't let them keep it updated?

The search giant sometimes referred to as the 'Google of China' partnered with KFC to open a new "smart restaurant" in Beijing, whichemploys facial recognition to make recommendations about what customers might order, based on factors like their age, gender and facial expression... image recognition hardware installed at the KFC will scan customer faces, seeking to infer moods, and guess other information including gender an age in order to inform their recommendation... And the setup also has built-in recognition, so if you're a return customer, it can 'remember' what you ordered before and suggest your past favorites.
Baidu has also worked on another KFC restaurant in Shanghai where the orders were taken by a voice-activated robot.

To practice their facial recognition technology, in a less threatening way.
This will be used for their next-gen dystopia social-credit system.

I've bought a oukitel k6000 pro, and it's great apart from no notification LED. This is far more annoying than I was expecting, is there anything you can do (not the camera flash) or am I fucked?
The buttons at the bottom don't light up.
Click the power button.

No bully m8, I don't care if this is autistic I have really ended up missing it.
I don't want to flick my screen on every time I leave the room (or if it's on silent and I miss it when I'm in the room even if the screen lights up)
>>58165759
Yeah. I totally get it man. But have you tried pressing the power button?
What's the point?
I think you can talk to it and ask questions and stuff.

Amazon listens to you constantly, so that they can get to know you better. Every time that you shop, the suggested items become more and more appropriate. You end up buying more often, because why the fuck not, you NEED it! Amazon profits.
And they keep on listening.
I got an Amazon Echo Dot for Christmas, and it's fucking amazeballs.
I already had a good foundation for everything, full hue lights throughout the house, nest thermostat, Amazon Prime account, etc. I live in about a 900 square foot space, and it works throughout the entire place, even inside the shower. Having it control the lights, or play different music is fucking great. I need to sync my Harmony Home with it so it can actually turn on and off my receiver and control the volume, and buy the 2.0 Hue Hub to change colors, but other than that I'm amazed I didn't already have one.
The only downside is yet another microphone for (((people))) to listen in on you.

If you've ever used a touch screen they have your fingerprint.
>>58165746
>At least I won't die in WW3
I'm sure they'll be more than willing to let you join the military in case of a war. Even then if you manage to get out if you can still die from a nuke or something.
