Is getting an SSD to load windows still a meme or is it good?

I've head that these guys have limited writes and since Windows won't stop writing around in it's partition/SSD/HDD it will probably shorten the SSD's lifespan a lot, I guess.

Also, does it even speed up the booting time enough to justify buying one?

What's the final consensus on this?

Just get a flash memory drive.

It's what Apple uses, and they just work.
>>
>>58164545
NAND is unable to write forever, it will run out in time, but the amount that it can write is huge. You'll probably get 10 years out of a consumer SSD with typical usage writes before it runs out.

With SSD prices as low as they are you'd be stupid not to have one.
>>
>>58164545
fucking hell anon, you're clearly stupid or dont have your os running off one do you?

For instance Amazon (130-250+) list skills required as,

I'm looking for an experienced software developer that is comfortable with big data and machine learning and can:

* Design systems that provide a stable base for innovation in a rapidly changing business

* Improve Forecasting algorithms through data-driven analysis and experimentation in our Scala/Spark environment

* Optimize for scalability and performance of both distributed computations and near-metal C++ code

* Learn quickly and keep up with a rapidly changing machine learning and big data landscape

* Communicate their ideas clearly with all members of a diverse team

Are Chromebooks acceptable for software development?
Granted I have space on external hard drives, etc., is doing coding, on a team, in an IDE, likely to be a pleasant experience using a Chromebook? I'm assuming the Linux version of IntelliJ works on Chrome, though maybe I'm wrong about that.

I know it's Unix-based, so that almost certainly means that, with the possible exception of C# .NET stuff, it will be better than Windows.

Eh, do Chromebooks ever have enough RAM for that?

No Linux programs will work on a Chromebook out of the box. However it's not difficult to install another os on it (especially if you get an x64 Chromebook like the toshiba 2, which I use daily)

Still, Chromebooks only have about 10gb free space and really slow processors so you have to be prepared to deal with that.

Could somebody please help me with understanding PCIe lanes?

I have a 4790K with a Z97-ud5h mobo that has 20 pcie lanes. I have an RX 480.

I would like to add a second RX480 and an m.2 SSD, but will that consume too many lanes and throttle my components? Any advice would be great.
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
You are aware than xfire 480 is objectively fucking awful and performs WORSE in 95% of games, right?
>>
Is that your mobo?

Because it only has 10gbps m. 2. Meaning it won't affect anything.

And it won't matter anyway sine the 32gbps m. 2 uses 4x of the pcie lanes.

So you still have enough if your gpus use 8x each. And even if your GPU used only 4x lanes you won't notice a performance drop.

BTW isn't z97 16 lanes only?
>>
>>58164010
Thank you, that makes sense.

I know it's poor in some games, but great for others. I may just hold off and try to sell the card when AMD releases vega.

Want to make a lot of fucking money? Do you?

One sentence.

Find vulnerabilities in botnet CPanels and steal ALL their bots and logs.

It's that easy folks. There's thousands of botnet c&c's running on various servers you can find with google dorks. Thousands. All you need, is to take over just a few. A FEW. And you have easily made hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tax-free, green like grass.

It's that easy, the money makes itself. You just have to REACH OUT AND GRAB IT. You think this is a joke? Absolutely not. Do it, get it.

See you at the Yacht club boys.

In what university did you study? When?
Did you get only bachelor's degree or applied also for master studies?
How did you like it?
Was it expensive? How did you pay?
Where do you work now?

What subjects did you learn during you bachelor study?
Mathematical analysis?
Probability theory?
Linear algebra?
System theory?

Some programming languages? C++, Java, C#?
Functional languages? Haskell, Lisp, Prolog?
Databases?
System analysis course?
Information system development?

Gamedev?

Data structures, algorithms course?

Maybe you had machine learning course? Or was it during master's studies?

Best distro, "lighter", for overheated pcs?

I'm torn between linux mint xcfe or xubuntu.
I also don't want to lose functionalities (I am linux mint cinnamon user).

Or if you have any other distro to suggest for the case?

Thank you anyways!
