I'm thinking about installing Mac OS as a second OS on my desktop. I have gone as far as buy a USB drive to put the OS installer on. I think I'm going to wait until I get a new SSD first though.
Its main use would be incase my girlfriend ever needed to use the computer. Otherwise I can't see myself using it much.
Any advice? Experience? Words of caution?

Just ordered this, its a linx 7 tablet
has one of the newer quad core atom processors 1gb ram and comes with full windows, im a bit apprehensive about the performance with only 1gb but in the videos ive seen of it it runs really well
i mainly got it to take with me in my bag so i dont need to get my laptop out if i need a windows device, i like the idea of full windows on a small device like this
only cost me £35 so its not a total loss if its shit, comes with windows 8.1 but can be upgraded to 10 and if that doesnt work you can install ubuntu on it
what do you think? did i goof? anyone else got a similar one and have any experiences/advice?

run shred in a linux live cd
It runs three times by default. Basically get an ubuntu usb or something, if you've never done it before:
open a terminal
then type shred /dev/sda
Assuming that the laptop has only one drive of course. Read up on Linux drive naming and you'll be fine. If you're paranoid, unplug the drives that you don't want to accidentally wipe.

I am the resident IT guy at my company...only because I know how to do more than check email and facebook. There is one computer in the production area and it is an Acer computer and it's used for doing up orders, invoices and stuff. It's a 1.2ghz AMD Dual Core, non-removeable CPU, and the ram is maxed out at 4gb. It runs windows 10 and it's slow as balls. The CPU runs max at idle. The owner of the company won't upgrade the machine, but has allowed me to try and make it faster. So I need some ideas.
I don't think a GPU could be used to off load the CPU's load. I have done everything I can think of software wise to make it more responsive.
The main software it needs to run is quickbooks.
