is there any benefit to running lfs, or is it something you did to learn from/feel good about?
Also, how difficult is it? I'm considering doing this over the summer because I know you just follow instructions from a book for the most part, but I'm a bit apprehensive because I really have no coding knowledge whatsoever and I don't think I'll be able to troubleshoot problems I run into by myself.

i personally did it to learn more about linux in general, which i think worked. i suppose if you were very limited in hard drive space, lfs would be good for making a system as light as possible.
what i did was follow the book, and also watch a youtube series on the installation beforehand to get a feel for what i was doing. i did fuck up and have to restart once, but after that it was a breeze

You know, all we have really seen from process reductions is increased heat, due to lower surface areas meaning lower heat dissipation.
They talk about potential speed and performance increases but what we are probably going to see is just more chips overheating and downthrottling, stuttering and other shit.
There's literally no advantage to going from 14nm to 10nm to 7nm to 5nm in the span of four phone generations yet that is what they are suggesting is going to happen.
I wouldn't even call 14nm in the mobile space mature yet.
