Aside from the core message about how putting the burden of FOSS on individualism is dumb ( Which I agree with, telling people they are slaves cause they use spotify wont help anyone start making/using FOSS') He's basically saying that FOSS is Marxist/Socialist, which I think is pretty true. We have alot of Right Libs/Ancaps on /g/ though that promote FOSS, how does one reconcile FOSS and those ideologies?

I think the key is kinda, universalizing the struggle for freedom. It crosses political boundaries, so it's easy to forget that a free society requires being free from the forces that bind us-- not just software, but many things
>>60501502
So you think people don't realize that having free software is one of many ways to free ourselves from those who would bind us? Isn't that pretty much a Marxist ideal then. To liberate ourselves from the ruling class? I guess Right Libs/Ancaps don't realize that. Or perhaps they do realize it but it feels like a separate issue somehow.
FOSS isn't marxist or socialist or anarchist or libertarian at all, it's pure constitutional liberty.
It's the enforcement of freedom.
Because once the laws come off, the slavery starts.
Remember that slavery had to be banned, and that ban had to be enforced. There are places in the world where the slavery ban is not enforced. Those places are not nice.
Freedom is not a natural state of affairs, it takes effort to maintain it.
What do you do with your old smartphones?
I got two perfectly functional Android phones that are just collecting dust.
Im not sure exactly, but look into installing GNUROOT on android, with it you get a nice linux environment, you can install virtually any package which is compiled to armhf, and for example run a tomcat server and run your java-based webapps
Leave them at the bus stop.

So, Tor is run by the CIA. While it's not directly backdoored, and the CIA and the NSA are in a turf war with each other, it still doesn't feel comfortable to use it. So which technologies are redpilled? I2P? IPFS? Tox?

i2p is the only choice as of now, but GNUnet is our best bet on the long run. I suggest you read what GNUnet is about, it does takes all necessary measures to ensure privacy.

Do you ever feel apprehensive about throwing away tech you've gotten as a gift?
Like I have this Canon S50 that doesn't even show up in windows any more and has been replaced since a few years back, but it was given to me as a graduation gift in 2003, feels bad to throw it away but I guess the real gift was all the pictures I took with it?
>>60498524
>throw it away
>disposable culture
Why the fuck would you throw a perfectly good camera in the trash? Give it to someone, asshole.
>>60498524
Find a new use for it. They offered water-proof cases for them. Ebay one if they're cheap enough and have a camera to take interesting underwater pictures with. The camera had the ability to be controlled from a PC over USB. Get a virtual Windows XP setup spun up, and play around with ID software. Maybe try to copy tags you've seen at Office Buildings or Schools for shits and giggles.
Re-Gift it.
Take it apart and use it for a project
>>60498524
Feels bad man, I don't really like getting gift in general, but the feels when its a cheap tech gadget that I will probably only use once then sit in my draw for years.
Canon P+S can run custom firmware, CHDK.
Your's might support it, its neat if you are into timelapse.
