Give me one reason not to learn web development please.

Its just a software replacement. Develop real software instead.

There's never a reason not to learn
Behold true 21 century programming language, Java monkeys. How does it feel to write in Java 8 in 2017 when a lot of people around the world are currently programming in Kotlin%%Java 15%%?
Kotlin has already got support from Google on Android. It is just a matter of time when every single app on Android will be written not in Java, but in Kotlin.
https://blog.jetbrains.com/kotlin/2017/05/kotlin-on-android-now-official/
Moreover, Kotlin is compatible with Java: you can call Java code from Kotlin. Major frameworks already introducing official support for kotlin:
https://spring.io/blog/2017/01/04/introducing-kotlin-support-in-spring-framework-5-0
Oh wait, but Kotlin has started to conquer not only JVM platform, but also native world.
https://blog.jetbrains.com/kotlin/2017/04/kotlinnative-tech-preview-kotlin-without-a-vm/
Finally those poor C and C++ guys will get a chance to use syntax sugar out of the box without need to program tons of template boilerplate.
Java, C++ monkeys, if you do not want to become unemployed in near future, you just need to learn Kotlin. There are not alternatives. Kotlin designers constructed ultimate language which got all the best practices from both imperative and functional world and took into account all the mistakes made in other languages.
>>60497678
but learning kotlin for someone who is already proficient in java 8 takes literally less than a day
I shilled Kotlin before it was cool.
>>60497678
Does it though? Can you override? Are strings still a nightmare like java
name one program you wrote that isn't buggy

How the FUCK does Apple get away with pricing a laptop with cheap feeling wobbly keyboard as $3000?
The HP spectres, fuck even the pavillions for 500 have nailed a low profile laptop keyboard, how does Apple manage to fuck it up so spectacularly?
Not only that but everyone justifies paying for this garbage with the idea that they are somehow well built, quality machines.
price includes this. got a problem. take it there and they fix or replace. no extra charge.
>>60497434
They put this on it and instantly it's worth a few hundred extra dollars.
>$3000
Nice shitpost. At least criticize their new keyboards and not the ones they've ditched.
I was moving my PC this morning and accidentally banged it against a wall, which knocked the heatsink out of the motherboard. When I tried to place it back in I saw that the clips to lock it in place(pic related) were bent out of shape and will no longer lock in place. Does have any kind of solution for this?
>>60497417
It is time to get an aftermarket heat-sink, also for the love of cheezus, dust that PC
>>60497417
Yer fucked. Buy a new heatsink.
Wow have you ever had a useful thought in your fucking head you dumb monkey
Use some fucking pliers to push them back into place and grip them to make them go back to their original shape
Jesus Christ have you never had to fix anything, ever?

This thread is for the discussion of NyaaPantsu (nyaa.pantsu.cat), a free (FOSS) torrent indexer.
The aim of this project is to write a fully featured nyaa.se replacement in golang that anyone will be able to deploy locally or remotely.
FAQ

Most likely because the team is deploying changes. Wait for a bit and refresh the page. It should be mostly stable now.

I've had an Intel 530 SSD for little over 2 years (9 months of power-on time).
Currently, its media wearout indicator (rough estimate of how much life is left) is at 40%, while in January it was at ~55%.
So it's dying pretty fast naturally.
I still have 3 years of warranty left, but I don't feel like waiting until its natural death catches me by surprise.
So my master plan is to rape the shit out of the drive and return it when it dies.
What's the best way to do this? Should I just keep writing something to it at all times? Seems like the simplest way, not sure if it's the most efficient one.
>>60497379
>9 months of power-on time
>40%
What the hell were you doing to it? Also, you should check if the warranty even covers wearout.
>>60497427
>What the hell were you doing to it?
I fucked up and forgot to move Chromium cache/profile into tmpfs. So everything I did in Chromium got cached on the SSD, which is lots of terabytes, picrelated.
>you should check if the warranty even covers wearout.
... uhh, that might be worth doing. I always assumed that it did, but now that you've mentioned it, it doesn't make much sense.
>put it into an oven or similar hot place while it is running
>feed high voltages or unstable currents to it
>constantly write random data on it
Temperatures and data writes will get recorded by the internal software and intel might refuse your warranty claims if it considers these numbers as "abnormal". IIRC power or current levels are not stored anywhere but if you fry the circuit board it'll show up very quickly.
>ereader with a few gigabytes of memory will claim to hold "thousands of books"
>doesn't account for the fact that any books containing images will have a file size equivalent to hundreds of text only books
Seriously, e-readers with actual non shit storage capabilities WHEN?
Images? Why would you care about images? You're not a manchild who can't concentrate on text for long periods of time, are you?
just get a kobo
>>60497103
Have you ever read a textbook, anon? They usually have images in them. There are other types of books beyond novels.

Alright...
First uninstall everything related to the codec pack (also remove all of the settings when asked). To remove madVR run uninstall.bat in madVR folder as admin then remove the folder. Reboot.
1.)Install MPC-HC (64bit if youre on 64bit Windows)
2.)Get latest madVR and extract it somewhere in program files. Run install.bat to install it, then run restore_default_settings.bat. Do not remove the madVR folder afterward.
3.)Get xysubfilter beta (64 bit if youre on 64bit Windows). Installation process is similar to madVR.
After you installed everything. Open MPC-HC's settings and chose madVR under Options -> Playback Output -> DirectShow Video. Chose XySubFilter under Subtitle Renderer.
Go to Options -> Internal Filters, click on Video decoder, and select None in the Hardware Decoder to use.
Play some video and click on madVR -> Edit settings.
Go to Processing -> artifact removal and check reduce banding artifact and reduce ringing artifacts.
>>60496763
>>60496842
Cont.
Go to Processing -> zoom control and set move subtitles: to ... into active video area.
Go to Rendering -> general settings and check use Direct3D 11 for presentation.
Go to Rendering -> smooth motion. Tick enable smooth motion frame rate conversion.
Go to Rendering -> trade quality for performance and uncheck everything.
Thats pretty much it. madVR at defaults it alright. If you have a decent video card then follow the next and last step.
Scaling algorithms:
Chroma: NGU Anti Alias (medium).
Image downscaling: SSIM 2D strength 100% + tick scale in linear light and activate anti-ringing filter.
Image upscaling: Doubling: NGU Anti Alias. Algorithm quality: medium (luma doubling); Jinc AR (upscaling algo); use image downscaling settings (downscaling algo). Leave everything else as Let madVR decide.
Go to Rendering -> dithering. Chose Error Diffusion 2.
TADAM. Play some videos and monitor your OSD (ctrl+J) for dropped frames. If you get little bit of them at the start of playback then everything is fine. If they accumulate ALOT during playback than your madVR settings are overkill for your video card. Also if you have nvidia card then set your power profile to adaptive in nvidia settings.
What is the point of overclocking?
It adds 10% performance AT BEST for 100% more instability. If you want faster performance buy better components.
>poorfags can squeeze more out of their carppy and/or aging hardware
>ricers have some way of justifying water cooling and it's pricetag of several thousand dollars
Overclocking used to be great. You'd overclock a cheap CPU and it'd turn into a CPU that cost many times as much for free.
But CPU manufacturers (intel specifically) twigged on this and so stopped making CPUs where this was effective. Intel went one step further and actually disabled unlimited overclocking on most of its line just to make sure that you can't get more value out of their processors.
And then their 'unlocked' ones are already clocked as high as they'd safely go.
>>60496546
sounds like Intel is efficiently utilising its hardware.

You're using an OS made for fucking ATM's, and not using Pro with Defer upgrades enabled..?
You can remove all of the apps in Pro (I make sure to re-install Store)...
Why tho?
i'm gonna need some more information here OP.
Why are you using Windows?
You're using an os made for gaymers, and not using a good os like BSD, Linux or OS X?
You can even make it feel like windows...
