That simply isn't true. Data can be encrypted, operating systems hardened, connections obscured. That's practically the point of Tails in conjunction with Tor.

Is buying used/refurbished CPU/Motherboards something that is pretty safe to do? Or are you likely to get screwed with a soon to be broken item in a few months?

My Q6600 and MB has lasted 9 years of hard use but I don't know if its longevity is an anomaly or not.

CPUs never die, if you want to max out the specs on an old system, go right ahead.
Used ram is pretty safe too, if it's still working at this point, it's not going to suddenly stop working.
If you buy stuff on ebay, you're pretty much guaranteed a refund if something comes dead on arrival.

Mice thread general.

I'd actually like to ask about productivity mice. Do you guys know any mice other than MX series and RAT series with second scroll wheels? How do they compare to touch mice like Apple magic mouse or MS Wedge when it comes to productivity stuff?

I'm curious becase a lot of big Youtubers seem to have a hardon for the MX now because the scroll wheel is useful for video, but I wonder how it compares to touch controls when scrolling across large images, spreadsheets etc.

Of course gaming mice discussion is fine too.

Don't use a VPN with Tor. If your ISP is blocking Tor, you're far better off using a preconfigured Sock5 proxy provided by Tor. VPNs will sell your data in a heart beat.

How do you avoid extreme security paranoia?

Setting up a secure cryptocurrency cold storage environment on a throwaway laptop and I keep thinking "Fuck, what if my flash drive's firmware is infected" and "Fuck what if my BIOS is infected"

Are flash drives even a 100% safe way to transfer files between hot and cold storage? Are micro-SD cards safer if my laptop has a micro-SD slot?

if you do get a keyboard, i really recommend a full-sized one with numpads and everything. smaller ones look sexy and all but at the end of the day you want function for something you're gonna use every single day
