I had that tower. Fuck me I never should've donated it, I kept it in mint condition and some min wage whipping boy probably trashed it for parts as soon as it entered the donations bin.

Ehm, so, I need to upgrade my graphics card.. I was looking for the Rx4xx series but, they are valued like double of the original.
Any advice? Maybe were I can get a used one?

To bad miners got em.
You might get lucky with a 560 tho. Your alternative is a 1050ti which is just as good and considering euro pricing probably more $/perf efficient.
>>60809870
go with rx 580/570
for casual gaming profile rx560 / gtx1050ti would be nice

Honestly what do you do when a macbook pro battery wears out? It says they are "non replaceable" but all batteries wear out eventually
there must be a way to replace it?
>inb4 buy a new macbook

Any MacBook pro 13 inch from 2010 to 2012 has the same battery and can be replaced.
>>60809877

I actually keep my computers, say the battery wears out in 4 or 5 years
then what?
>>60809885
Fucking open it, in solder the battery and red solder a new one in.. If you can't solder then learn, it's fucking easy.........

Might as well ask this in a separate thread but what monitor stands are recommended here? Currently have a 27" monitor as my main and a 24" i use vertically. Getting one of those ikea countertops to use as a desk and seeing those /bst/ threads has me worried about sag if i were to place the monitor arm right in the middle of it's length. What are your guy's throughs if i buy seperate single arms and place them at the sides of the desk? Was thinking of getting Ergotron's (pic relate) or their single arm version, thoughts?
>>60809817
I have a Ergotron LX HD for a 40" 4K TV and I love it. Its the best arm i've ever used and a lot better than the 3M arms I used to have.
>Getting one of those ikea countertops to use as a desk and seeing those /bst/ threads has me worried about sag
Fuck if I know about that. I have mine mounted to a 1 1/4" thick MDF desktop and it is fine.
>>60809817
This looks exactly like the amazon basic ones. Which I believe I read were actually them just buying the ergotron's and labeling as amazon. So you might save money by getting those.
If that's the case, then it's the one I have, and they are very good. 27 and 24 vertical *should* be fine, but be sure to give yourself space from the wall. They stick out a bit even with just my two 24's.
>>60809864
yeah this countertop is 1 1/2" particleboard with a 1/8" solid oak, i did buy an extra leg to place in the center though but wasn't sure if i should go through with mounting it if people haven't had that much issue, went with the 74 incher.
>>60809929
i know, which is why i'm asking around, there's so many off-brands on amazon (which is where i'm gonna order it from) that it's hard to know which ones are actually worthwhile.

Hello /g/. After going through most distributions out there I have finally come back to Ubuntu. Now I'm curious about other anons' distrohopping as well.
How is your distrohopping going? Has it yielded any results or are you back with the distribution you started with? What's your choice of distribution for working and getting shit done?
For me it was: Mint -> Ubuntu LTS (Unity) -> CentOS -> Fedora -> Antergos -> Arch Linux -> Debian -> OpenSUSE -> Calculate Linux -> Slackware -> Void -> Gentoo -> Solus -> Ubuntu LTS (MATE). Personal favourites were Gentoo and Debian but I have so many devices now I just set them up with Ubuntu MATE LTS for consistency.
>>60808927
I runned through a lot. But now I'm about a year with fedora in my desktop.
>>60808927
Ubuntu MATE is broken by default, and I'm not talking about tearing. Try doing this

>>60808927
My path was
Ubuntu LTS (Unity) -> Lubuntu -> Mint -> Ubuntu LTS (Mate) -> Solus
Mint and Solus are my favourites
I stucked with Solus because Budgie is fucking comfy and it just werks

Do you have a Samsung phone? Well, according to a new report it’s using tech which can spy on what you’re reading and watching online. O! And monitors the emails in your inbox as well.
http://www.trunews.com/article/your-peeping-tom-samsung-smartphone-is-watching-your-every-move
>According to the Sun, the phones switch onto spy mode after they are alerted by a “beacon” often embedded in web pages or sent as an ultrasonic signal hidden in telly or online adverts. Jim Killock, Executive Director of Open Rights Group warned that “Samsung want to get to know you – but they are behaving like a peeping Tom”. He added: “Samsung have taken spying on their customers to a whole new level. “What you can’t see, and can’t hear, won’t worry you — or so it hopes. “It needs to own up and switch it off before their customers wise up and ditch them.” If you use a Samsung phone, it’s likely that you’ve already agreed for the phone maker to snoop on you.
>The Korean manufacturer makes reference to it on several pages in on its privacy policy. It writes: “We, along with certain third parties, also may use technologies called beacons or pixels that communicate information from your device to a server. “Beacons can be embedded in online content, videos and emails and allow a server to read certain types of information from your device, know when you have viewed particular content or a particular email message, determine the time and date on which you viewed the beacon and the IP address of your device.” They explain that they are doing this for a “variety of purposes” including to analyse how the phones are being used and “to provide content and ads that are more relevant to you”.

Want to buy some crapbook and compatibility with OpenBSD is my requirement. Minimal specs: 4GB RAM, 4 cores (or threads), less than 15", SSD over 60GB, under 400$.
What are my options? No website specifies wifi chipset and I've heard I can have issues with sound as well.
