No. I don't live in a cucked country, and I don't have to use a VPN.
>>61003129
Why are you using a public vpn? Buy your own server from some place that hasn't been range banned and set up your own vpn.
>>61003129
That is a sexy man. Woof.
Is google botnet?
>>61002982
Yes
I recall a website existing that you would type something like a username or email address into it and it would find all the accounts you have with various websites, anybody know what I'm talking about?
bump pls
I would like to know....
so anons, what do you use on your computer?

macOS is good if you don't care about utility but want something pretty, Windows is all utility and no security, Linux is free as in freedom (my votes go to Debian and related forks). If I didn't play videogames I would be using a linux distro.

Firefox or forks thereof
>mail / news client
Gmail and google for continuity between devices and ease of use, cock.li or mailinator for secure email. /pol/ for news

Vim, or Notepad ++ if you're not willing to learn Vim or emacs, LibreOffice for everything else
I use proprietary shit because I don't know any different.

brower depends on OS, editor should be Adobe Photoshit (pirated of course) GiMP is very related to its namesake.

Are we to expect anymore gaming optimizations for Ryzen? Because currently for gaming it is fairly sub-par compared to what my two year old 6700k was giving me. Frametimes and smoothness is much better but many games have become unplayable since I switched due to low framerates in the 40s at 4k. I've sat around contemplating returning everything for a 7700k but I don't want to make the wrong decision if there are going to be future optimizations. Don't get me wrong, this thing is a beast at multi-tasking but it's really kinda lackluster with gaming performance even at 3.9ghz, is anyone else having these issues?
>>61002743
Problem with my mobo was ram stability and speed, and the lack of LLC and Soc voltage options for overclocking. I'm keeping the mobo (Asrock AB350M Pro4, not worth a damn anyway) and selling the 1700. I'll get a better overclocker later on when shit have matured more and new cpu's are out.
I can't say I noticed bad framerates with my gtx1060 6gb, only have a 29" 2560x1080 screen tho. But I did get BAD screen tear and stuttering when scrolling in the web browser.
Gonna run the x58 for now, more than enough power for my use.
You may want to hold out for Coffee Lake, there's gonne be a 6 core for the mainstream platform.
I'm tempted my self, we'll see when prices and oc results comes along.
>>61002743
You switched to Ryzen from a 6700K for gaming?
How dumb are you?

Yea definitely, thats all up to game developers though. For now everything is clock speed based, but with the direction of cpu architecture (more cores/threads) developers will be forced to optimize for current trends.
No experience beyond some basic scripting when it comes to writing code.
But I want to write a simple device driver for a keypad.
Is there much of a career in learning assembly?
No, and most drivers are made in C. And there are almost no jobs for assembly
Assembly is only useful as a learning tool nowadays, it helps to understand how processors access memory and execute instructions.
In the real world, c compilers are so advanced that you wouldn't be able to beat the assembly generated by them.
>>61002733
It's really niche now. The reason people used to use Assembly was because CPUs were slow so machine code had to be as efficient as possible. Compilers used to be pretty shitty, so a talented assembly programmer could make more efficient code.
Today compilers can make highly optimised code just like humans writing in assembly, and fast CPUs are so cheap there's less emphasis on making ultra efficient code.

So /g/, it is finally time to drop all the memery and give a final word about the best distro (without cuckD botnet, of course). Here are the contenders:
1. Slackware (my pick)
2. Devuan (another patrician choice)
3. Void Linux (great distro, but lacking in packages and manpower)
4. Gentoo (I will let this meme pass)
Now go my friend, let's settle this down.
Void Linux. It's not even close.
Arch.
Not even memeing.
Parabola.
help i fucked up, systemd stopped loading all kernel modules
>muh arch, i3 gaps on xorg
>pacman -Syu
>#pacman -S nvidia
>shit breaks, xorg wont start, big red "failed to load kernel modules" while booting
>#pacman -Rs nvidia nvidia-utils
>reboot
>still not working
>journalctl -b
>see "failed to lookup alias 'sg':function not implemented"
no idea what to do from here, no good forum posts on it. help
Install Gentoo
>>61002576
Just reformat and start over
This is why you don't use systemd. Take not bloatnet cucks.
Are RAM/SSD prices going to go back down anytime soon? The same DDR4 8GB stick I bought this time last year cost $35. Now it costs twice that much.

https://www.techpowerup.com/231768/pc-dram-pricing-increased-20-sep-oct-2016-will-continue-rising-in-2017-trendforce
>TrendForce reports that this DRAM price increase also stands as proof of the changing paradigm between the three top memory makers: Samsung, Hynix, and Micron, which TrendForce reports have "opted for co-existence as the best way to maximize their own profitability." They are, therefore, "turning away from aggressively competing for market share through price reduction and capacity expansion."

how are you supposed to write on a job resume that you are proficient in "linux"
sure you could be a god at debian or gentoo but that doesnt mean you know fedora or red hat
do you just write out gnu/linux?
I too am wondering how I could reference my usage of Linux and basics of bash and CLI as a skill.
To be safe write something like GNU/(X11/wayland)/Linux/perl/python operating system
>>61002089
> I dont know how to say I know bash
Sup /g/esus
I've decided on making the jump to based Linux.
My only question though, is will my Ryzen cpu and GTX 1080 work properly on Linux?
I'm being assured they will, however there are some people that say they will not.
pls respond
>>61002065
I hope this is bait.
>>61002065
Install KolibriOS. Don't let the "New" in GNU/Linux fool you -- Linux is old and busted. KolibriOS is the new hotness.

Is there a way to unfuck the tiny tabs in Chromium based browsers?
I've switched from a comfy FF clone that is sadly becoming depreciated to Iridium, which I enjoy a lot, but this tiny tabs problem is a real PITA.
And, for your enjoyment:
