Im thinking about switching my S5neo for a Mi Max 2.
And put a big ass fucking case on it.
So that i have the biggest fucking phone i can.

Is a gigantic phone annoying to use?

It's uncomfortable to walk with big ass phone in your pocket.
>>
>>61005645
Well yes, to many it is annoying to use, which is why smaller phones get used.

To some it's okay, this is why big ass phones exist.

If you want to put on a big ass case, I think you have a size fetish or something.
>>
>>61005645
5.5 inches is enough to satisfy me. Bigger is nice to look at, but it's just uncomfortable in the long run.

hey nerds
recently I've been thinking about looking for cheap or free used hardware and things that can be made into stuff like cantennas for range and stuff. I'm not too experienced on the subject, but I'd like to be able to build something simple that I can use to extend the range of my router and see a bunch of wifi networks, maybe connect to some guest coffee shop or something, and also maybe use for ham radio (I have a baofeng)

I also was really curious if I got multiple of these dish-enhanced omnidirectional antennas and kept them running, listened for or connected to multiple wifi networks. just what the advantage would be and what sort of fun things I could do with that, obviously I couldn't start a meshnet, but something similar would be nice as a hobby. preferably all legally without hacking just long distances connections to unsecured wifis at like coffee shops and restaurants and stuff

If you have friend within line of sight to set up a point to point connection with then yes. So no.

Getting sick of that useless antenna lying around, Linus?

Does anyone here use KDE Connect? I'm going to be installing Arch soon and it looks pretty cool to play around with.

Hey anons, recently took photos with my friend and after he sent them through Facebook the quality had decreased from (6000 x 4000) to (2048 x 1365). I had already finished photoshopping one until I became aware of the decrease in quality, so I was wondering if I were to print A4 images of both qualities, how visible would the difference in quality be? Thanks anons!
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
don't send them via facebook for anything but previewing
>>
>>61005337
It would be visible. Can't say "how" visible. But just send by syncthing, email, dropbox, ipfs, flickr, rackspace, your ftp or whatever the fuck suits you and your friend.
>>
Generally photos are printed at 300 PPI so for a nice looking edge-to-edge A4 print you'd want the file to be at least 3507*2481.

You could do a nice 6x4" print but A4 would be (literally) a bit of a stretch).

Should i go R5 1600 or R6 1700? I am a whore for cores and the programs i use kinda make use of them but the value of 1600 is so fucking good. And no i will not go Intel because their 4+ cores modern Cpu's require motherboards that cost more than the CPU itself

3 days ago i replaced my CPU cooler with NH D15 and from that day i got everyday around 3-4c hotter in temps. It was in the 61c on first day and today it's around 73c...... WTF IS GOING ON!!!

BTW it's a intel CPU and i replaced the paste 3 times and still the same shit with time it's increase in temps......FUCK THIS WORLD.

WHAT CAN BE WRONG HERE??? NEED FUCKING HELP.

It's simple, you don't have enough intelligence to assemble Lego.
>>
I don't know what cooler you had prior to NH D15, but you're clearly doing something wrong if you get higher temps with it.
>>
>>61005166
Intel® SmartCum™ thermal paste detects what cooler you're using based on surface pressure, and adjusts temperatures upwards to compensate. This is to prevent overclocking for your own safety. Please invest in a new, great value Intel® CPU if you need more performance.

6 core ryzen is the best bang for the buck for the average user. The 7700k isn't a good deal but if you clock it to 5+GHz it's ~10% faster in single threaded performance, so it's slightly better for 120+Hz gaming if you are using an ultra high end GPU.

Yes, it's this thread again.
Can any of you OOP experts define what an object is?
For bonus points, I challenge you to provide a definition that passes the C struct test:
It should be impossible to take just any random procedural C program and mechanically transform its structs into objects in a meaningful sense.
If you think your definition passes the C struct test, you must prove it relying only on your original definition (no ad hoc excuses and modifications).

What's the sexiest linux distro/environment/icon pack combo? Ik it's retarded, but I hate Windows and don't want to look like a poorfag with macOS on my Thinkpad.

I basically want a polished OS that isn't macOS or Windows.

yes faggots, Unity is polished. The fact that Canonical decided to drop it proves it, same happened with GNOME 2.

The new i9 series are just overclocked i7s with huge power consumption and heating issues.

How the fuck could Intel think this was a good idea?

>"I didn’t believe it at first, but the Core i9-7900X is using more than 70 watts additional power than the Core i7-6950X!"

>"But woe, if you have all the cores really work out properly! With Prime95 and Luxrender on all cores for the Core i9-7900X, we have determined absolute peak values for the power consumption. The Core i9-7900X achieves remarkable 48% more performance in the render score (Luxrender, console), but also takes up 58% more of the electrical power! This is almost the famous blue breaking bar."

>The system ran stable with 1.4 Vcore in 10 runs and the CPU took an average of 261 watts. Single peaks, however, were load-dependent at up to 293 watts, which is very close to the limit. A test carried out at 4.8 GHz with 20 instances of a shading-all-year calculation for a complex photovoltaic roof system including a yield calculation allowed the power consumption to rise to 335 watts. When starting Prime95 without AVX limitation then switched off the mainboard. The last, still logged value was 364 watts."

>"The real reason is Intel's incomprehensible fun brake in the form of unsuitable (but probably much cheaper) heat transfer paste instead of a sensible solder."

>"Up to 65 ° C Tcore with a heat spreader temperature of approx. 24 ° C results in a delta of more than 40 ° C. We reached this value with a power loss of just under 230 watts. As soon as you move above the 300-watt limit, which can be reached even with simple rendering programs from 4.6 or 4.7 GHz and the necessary voltages (depending on the chip quality), the chiller is hardly anything. At the maximum values of 300 watts reached by us the CPU is already permanently thermal limit of 100 ° C, shortly thereafter comes to the consequential shutdown."

Overclocked CPU couldn’t even be cooled with a $1000 compressor cooling solution.

Because it was really their only option. Their arch is milked to death. They can't lower prices that much. 10nm on desktop is nowhere in sight. Only thing they could do was crank up the clocks and TDP.

It's borderline the price of flagships at this point, unless you feel $150-200 is a huge factor then get the s8
With exception to if you wanna run custom roms, the one plus range has always been great for that.
