And thus we begin the FINAL Powers thread! Starting with the debut issue of Vol. 5. I hope everyone has enjoyed this wild ride. If not, it will all be over soon. Previous threads are located here.

Leaving the office meow. Shouldn't be more than ten minutes. See you soon!
>>90172443
Hey ProfessorBro, have you ever played Super Contra and also does your mom have a dick?
I am completely divided on how I feel about this series.
>>90172653
NOICE!!!!!!
>>90172749
I find volumes 1 and 2 to be pretty solid. 3 starts weak and ends strong. Powers Bureau started strong and ended weak. Torn on how Vol. 5 is.
>>90172487
>have you ever played Super Contra
Absolutely.
>>90172487
>also does your mom have a dick?
Wouldn't know. Does yours?
>>90172951
Well, how about use my greasy Italian plumber cock to whack you across the fucking face?!
I didn't know Father from KND was in this series.
I bet in the script Bendis wrote
Panel 2. Pulled back shot of a police detective placing one of MANY Powers photos on a fairly large whiteboard. For descriptions on each hero, GO FUCKING NUTS!
I know I certainly would have.
This is a really cool page as well. It actually feels like Police station filled to the brim with criminals rather than a building with some hallways, the chief's office, and the drainer interrogation room.
>>90173228
Hellboy? Matt Fraction? WTF?
That conversation took a dark turn.
>>90173290
I love when artists fuck around and sneak crap like that in. If I ever get off my lazy ass and finish scripting my series, I'm going to put tons of subtle visual gags for those willing to scour over the pages.
This coroner is a QT
Would anyone care to explain why people so vehemently despise Brian Michael Bendis. I can't tell if it's just one guy but there has been a growing presence of peeps that have raging hate boners for the man and I don't get it.
I under no circumstances would ever say he's one of the greatest writers of all time, but neither would I say the man is incapable of producing anything or worth. WHen did people suddenly forget Ultimate Spider-Man? Powers? Daredevil Vol. 2? Alias (this one might be pushing)? Even his first volume of New Avengers had some pretty fun stories. Not to mention his trio of crime novels Jinx, Torso, and Goldfish. Dude can write.
>Maybe you disagree with everything I just said. And if that's the case can you please explain why you have such a distaste for him? Why is every single work invalidated in your eyes?
Personally, I don't blame him. Walker got the short end of the stick. He saved the fucking world, was persecuted for it, and then had the shit kicked out of him by a mind controlled Retrogirl. If I was him I would have packed it up and called it a day a LONG time ago.
Also Dark Reign was my absolute favorite era of Marvel Books. Dark Avengers was fun, New Avengers had the team on the run, Avengers Initiative became a villain academy RUN BY TASKMASTER! Mighty Avengers was written by Slott and starred my main man Hank Pym. And it all culminated in Siege which I consider the least pretentious event in recent history. It was a four issue slugfest between HAMMER and Asgard and it didn't dissapoint.
She looks way too fucking happy
When did Walker get the streak in his hair? Is it because he's getting older?
The fuck is going on?
>I'm a super villain.
=(
>>90173559
People are rightfully pissed off because of all his shitty recent comics (Avengers Assemble, GotG, X-Men, Ultimate End, Civil War II) and his shitty practices: lazy layouts, copy-pasted art, shitting on characters he doesn't like, shitting on conventions of the superhero genre every chance he gets, propping up his favorites and OCs...
...what
>>90174325
I don't disagree with any of your thoughts on his recent output, I just think that's a poor reason to completely decide to write him off.
This is hysterical.
>Aim for the bushes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvkN3003iU4
>>90173992
he had the streak in his hair forever I think he stopped dying it.
I've been looking into my next big project and to say it's daunting is a bit of an understatement. I already have all the core issues at the ready so going from start to finish isn't going to be a problem. What I want to know is how "complete" of a run would you like? Although I don't have all the tie ins, I have managed to collect all of Venom, Scarlet Spider, Avenging Spider-Man, and Superior teamup. I'm looking into incorporating all of them into the storytime and I just wanted to know if you guys would be up for that.
HAZAH!!!
This is sad and creepy
HOLY SHIT!
It's very interesting to see Walker's attitude towards Powers in the comic compared to his portrayal in the TV show.
Powers Division can fuck right off. He openly endangered the lives of officers and civilains in an open street. The police aptly responded. Anyone who agrees with that police chief can eat shit.
>>90175065
>Venom, Scarlet Spider
I don't see the point, aside from a couple of pseudo crossovers they have very little to do with Sloth's run.
>Avenging Spider-Man
Maybe.
>and Superior teamup
Definitely.
......alright, Sunrise. I may think you're a bitch but you at least got your partner's back.
>>90175777
Well, the show doesn't go into the long-ass history arc that the comic did. Not to mention the story of how he lost his powers in the books as compared to TV. In that context, I would expect him to want them back since they were stripped by his worst enemy. In this context, he lost them because of his own choice, and had them for millenia. Of course, he's ready for a change.
>>90175960
Is this the last issue? Or are there another couple of arcs is volume 5?
>>90175925
Do you even think it would have been possible to have had a faithful adaptation of Walker's backstory in a live action show? Even if the show had been on HBO with a larger budget, I doubt they would have been able to adapt EVERYTHING of importance, but it still would have been interesting. I always thought it would be better as an animated show but I was satisfied with what I got. Sharlto Copley turned in a understated performance as walker.
>>90176005
There is one more issue after this one and then that's it.
>>90176027
Jesus, this ain't gonna have much of a satisfying conclusion, will it?
>>90176027
One episode of flashbacks, or do it Arrow style and do half an episode all season.
They can stash those things fucking anywhere. I'm now of the opinion they're overusing these things in the same sense Miles' venom blast was overused.
>>90173607
>Firecrotch
Hahaaah... god I'm so 13.
That was a smart play.
Very interesting power set.
Deena, you're human garbage.
>We're all just living in a TV show!!
HA!
>>90173952
If you're a glass-half-full person and you spend all your time surrounded by people who've died horribly your life is bound to look pretty great by comparison.
She shouldn't look so fucking smug
And we've now officially reached the final issue of this series to come out. It's obvious it isn't mean to be a final issue but for what it is I like it.
>>90176546
So do we find out what happened to Callista? Is she just... done? Or what? I don't believe for a second Walker would just turn his back on her if she needed help.
Can anyone ID exactly what book that is?
I think this guy needs a hobby.
>>90176619
Had to resize this page. Also holy shit
Walker may not have powers but he's fucking durable
Being Walker is suffering.
It begins...
HOW IS WOLFE ALIVE?!?!?!?!
Going to spoiler the remaining pages for cinematic effect.Considered that Christian and Wolfe were both ape like neanderthals that were bestowed powers by the same source, it's interesting to see how they both drastically differed from one another. Wolfe's cannibalism being one of the weirder ones.
This version of Wolfe seems drastically different from where we saw him last. Apparently he's done a lot of growing in the years that have passed.
>He is - was - the human embodiment of the sound you make when you rub your fingers across your lips over and over very quickly.
Bendis still got it.
Wolfe should have been a recurring character throughout the entire series. I'm so glad Bendis decided to return to Walker's antagonist/oldest friend.
That stick's got some kick
>>90176867
What are you talking about, that's a terrible analogy
She?
>>90176939
I find it funny. It's the first time I've ever read anyone actually sound out that particular action. It's was unexpected
OH FUCKING SNAP! CALLISTA RETURNS!!! Definitely not the issue I wanted to end on but it could have been so much worse. Walker is right on the cusp of rediscovering his heroic tendencies and desire to make the world a better place and who of all people does he run into? The very girl that he met all the way back in the first issue. Very fitting.
>>90173336
well when you make it big don't forget about us, k?
>>90177024
Man, that's it? Fuck. Not satisfying at all.I wanted Walker to fug Pilgrim
>>90177024
I thought this was a story from the old days so that's RetroGirl Original Recipe
>>90177043
>well when you make it big
lol
>>90177043
You kidding? The second I get this thing completed words won't be able to express how fast I would upload that shit to /co/. I've gotten a lot of feedback on the first four issues so they're pretty rock solid. Right now I'm just having to get specific story points filed down so I don't have to worry about rewriting if I can think of something better.
>>90177080
It's definitely Callista, look at the piercings. Also, she looks too young to be the previous RetroGirl.
>>90177112
Y'all are trippin' read the text on the first page! This is a story of one his past lives. And it's about mid 20th century, judging by the dress and language use. So that's the original retro girl in 1940 or something.
>>90177078i wanted pilgrim to fuck walker
>>90177217
I think it's probably more like the 60's or 70's in the 40's and 50's he was the blue streak this is right before he became diamond thus the name of the issue.
Favorite Iterations of Walker
1. Diamond
2. Powers Division
3. Gorra
4. Undercover Walker
5. Millenium Guard Walker
6. Blue Streak
7. Gorilla Walker
8. Ninja-Monk Walker
9. Vlad the Impaler
Rank Powers Volumes.
1. Volume 1.
2. Volume 2.
3. Volume 3
4. Powers Bureau
5. Volume 5
>All that said I can find something to enjoy about all the volumes
Also is anyone pumped for Slott's Spider-Epic tomorrow? The order should be as follows.
>Amazing Spider-Man Big Time
>Superior Spider-Man
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 2
>Spider-Verse
>Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 3
>Clone Conspiracy
And I'll be sure to include all the tie in issues I have.
>>90175817
If by "he" you mean the shit-head who decided to shoot at a peacocking armored super-human on a flying horse, then yes.
I know you didn't but let's be real. If someone shows up who may or may not be bullet-proof but *is definitely* wearing armor and has powers that could kill a bunch of people, and someone decides to start shooting at him, that person shouldn't be trusted with safety scissors, much less a gun and badge.
>>90177428
Found the fucking pussy. If they didnt return fire more people would have died. What you're suggesting is that we stand back and wait for what exactly? Him to rack up a larger and larger body count while we deliberate the situation? How else were they supposed to intervene when you have someone flying around on a horse firing lightning from his sword? Tackle him to the ground? Take him with mace? Seriously what was the fucking alternative?
>>90177648
but firing on him is what caused him to be enraged in the first place you twit.
>>90177648
I think we're reading this differently.
The guy who the Captain is chewing out was the guy who opened fire back here:
>>90175319
And was in the middle of shutting down here:
>>90175358
and THEN crazy-blue-knight came back and started killing people.
After that, like 10 different cops opened fire on them and were completely correct to do so. That doesn't change the fact that fuck-head-number-one probably got a dozen people killed because he decided to disobey orders and piss off the crazy flying guy with an energy lance in the first place.
>>90178016
im not saying they shouldn't have fired on him after he got mad but the captain's right, if that officer hadn't fired at him in the first place nobody would have died.
>>90178043
I was definitely reading it differently. Sorry for being a colossal ass
>>90178270
All good; I was half-sure Shooter One was killed until the Captain was yelling again after the end and it was the same guy.
>>90177080
>>90177217
Dudes, I know what you're thinking because I was also there. But he's fighting robots in a uber modern setting and there's a poster about a movie about the Golden Ones.
It's the future. Wolfe's alive and somehow mellowed into Stick. He's about to fuck Calista. I need more Powers now, holy shit.
>>90178817
The golden ones were around for a very long time though, this is almost certainly the origin story of diamond and the illustrator fucked up and made old retro girl look like calista.
>>90179025
>>90178817
Why can't it be both?I know full well why but both of you are making good points. It's weird how ambiguous Bendis made this issue.
To anyone here, after I finish Slott's Epic (god knows when that will be), I'm going to storytime Huston's, Hurwitz's, Bendis', Ellis', Wood's, Bunn's, and Lemiere's Moon Knight in chronological order. So if any of you absolutely despise Slott (which I completely understand), you will at least have what most consider a decent series immediately following.
I read the first 12 issues of this over a decade ago but for whatever reason never continued it until this week.
Imagine my surprise when the book went full on lore crazy and blew my fucking mind clean open.
Thanks for the wild ride, OP. Sometimes the best reads are the ones you underestimate. The tv show is a bitch to track down though. I don't want to be that guy but does anybody have a working link
Also, OP, I've seen that you keep asking for suggestions for your next storytime but honestly, I'd love to read some of your own OC that you keep mentioning.
>>90180020
>I'm going to storytime Huston's, Hurwitz's, Bendis', Ellis', Wood's, Bunn's, and Lemiere's Moon Knight in chronological order
Holy fuck, anon, you are my hero.
Powers #8 and #9 should be cancelled and resolicited (Marvel is usually unwilling to do so for some reason) because Oeming is working on Cave Carson.
>>90180847
I'll make it my mission to upload at least Season 1. I'll try to do it during my office hours lol. Hope ur cool with mediafire.
>>90180942
You should really thank the person who started the moon knight thread yesterday. It encouraged me to post all the first issues to the "modern" series and every single one of them intrigued me so I thought, why the hell not?
>>90187402
>I'll make it my mission to upload at least Season 1
Bless you, OP.
>>90176579
How much time passed between this and the last issue? Is he still not ageing even without his powers?
And how much time must have passed for him to have forgotten Wolf AGAIN?
