I feel like the series is really starting to get into full swing. I hope everyone's been enjoying the past couple storytimes. If not, there's a good chance I'll finish next week and so I can move on to more "enjoyable" series lol.
Heading home meow. See you cool kats soon!
>>90006449
Awesome, I've been waiting for this thread all day to ask a question. So at the end of #37 whenZora comes back why does nobody freak out?Did I miss something?
>>90006843
I'm going to go back and take a look. I was working on a lecture last night when I should have been focusing on the comic. I'll see if I can answer your question later.
Also, if I were to post all of this to MEGA would peeps prefer single issues or TPB?
>>90006509
God has it really been six years in this series? Where did the time go?
>>90006967
I think there were a few years of time skip after he left the force as well as a few months of coma time and recovery time just prior to this other than that I assume each case is fairly spread out as we saw with the wolf thing there was lots happening we haven't seen.
>>9000703
Having a tight knit chronology and a fairly fast accelerating timeline is not something I would have expected from bendis
>>90007101
Wait, he's boned every other incarnation of retro girl he's met, what does this mean.
>Bendis was once a Maoist who championed the murderous ideology of Mao Zedong and the Khmer Rouge. We condemn Sim and Moore of their political sins, but Sim tried to prove he was not a hater after "Cerebus". And Moore insisted he loathed misogyny but had simply done as told. Maybe they were full of shit but at least they tried to publicly distance themselves from extreme politics.
>Not Bendis who espoused the most extreme, murderous, and destructive form of leftism. Comic bloggers, so outraged about long retired Sim and long irrelevant Moore, never demanded of Bendis to face up to his past sins. Unlike Ditko and Miller who candidly confessed their approval of, respectively, objectivism and fascism, Bendis has never ever apologized in general, or in specific to the countless victims of the tyrants he supported with all his heart.
>Bendis celebrated and championed Mao's total destruction of culture and intellectual life and the Khmer Rouge that transformed Cambodia overnight into a genocidal stone age Marxist state.
Fuck that piece of shit.
>the series is never gonna get closure.
was honestly one of my favourites. although i was a bit sceptical when it moved to bureau and then to super hero Illuminati.
also has anyone seen the t.v. show? i remember hearing something about it and it seemed to have a lot of potential based on the source material it was using but i haven't heard anything about it recently (which is probably a bad thing).
>>90007604
Don't post images in the storytime, fuckhead
>>90007604
I loved the TV show but that appears to be an extremely unpopular opinion. It was dark, it was gritty, it had a ridiculously small budget, and they made it all work. Season 1 definitely took a while to get going but it ended up as one of the most unique and distinct usperhero shows on the market.
Season 2 on the other hand hit the ground running with the first episode and didn't let up the entire season. The first six episodes were an adaptation of the murder of retro-girl and the last four were an adaptation of Sellouts. I've never seen a show substancially improve so much from season 1 to 2 but maybe that's just what they needed. More time to figure out what they were doing. Shame the show is officially cancelled but I'm happy with what I got.

Legion is an unique and distinct cape show. Powers was just plain bad, and not all that different from shit like Smallville or Gotham.
>>90007934
Strongly disagree about the Powers comment but to each his own.
Not gonna lie, didn't see that coming
What was the point of relaunching the series? It's not like there's any kind of narrative justification like this. And if you say "to catch more readers" I will rape your anus.
>>90008545
I wanna get back into the series but I have no idea what the continuity is
did they just abruptly relaunch?
what's going on?
>>90008668
powers:bureau
all the powers cases become federal cases so deena and walker get hired by the FBI.
>>90008991
or maybe im thinking of something else.
>>90008991
but it's in the same continuity?
>>90009085
yeah. powers become federal cases so the FBI are now solely responsible for them. the FBI then goes around hiring those two because of how good they are. they do some cases then it just, stops midway through one.
kinda disappointing really.
>>90008503
OP you still there?
>>90009085
yeah powers:bureau comes after the last issue of powers.
they pretty much added bureau to the name, put them in the fbi and went from there.
>>90009325
So freaking sorry. One of my friends is over and she's not really in a great spot right now. Forgot to set it to autopost
>>90009470
No worries man, you do what you got to do.
Had to resize this guy

OK, these comments are pretty on-point. Props to you, Benis.

>>90011334
No no things are good now. I was just basically used as a bitching post for about an hour and a half.
>>90011381
=D
On episode 3 of season 1. The series is still trying to find it's footing. Just waiting in anticipation for episode 4-5.

Ultimate Spider-Man
Brilliant
Moon Knight

Jinx

Honestly haven't really read enough Bendis to have a basis for comparison of his comics.
>>90012135
Time for another flashback?
>>90012091
God when Bendis sucks, he sucks. But when he's good, he's capable of being one of my top writers. So weird predicting which property he'll succeed on. Also what's your favorite guilty pleasure comic by Bendis. No shame.Moon Knight
i liek comic books
>>90012278
And I like having you along for the ride.
>>90012188
>So weird predicting which property he'll succeed on
Not really, he's good with street levelers because he's got a background at noir/crime stuff, but that's it. The problem is that Bendis got into his head that he should be the next big writer at Marvel and since he was successful, Quesada let him become that next big thing. But Bendis was never cut-out to be a cosmic writer, or a mutant writer, or a team book writer. And that's not even getting into his petty side, like how he'll shit on characters he doesn't care about, or prop up his favorites without thinking how that shitting on or propping up will affect the Marvel universe as a whole.
Bendis is a very flawed writer who should have never become as big as he is. Brubaker understood his limits, got off pretty well from his Big Two period (his Batman run being his biggest dud), and is now a critically acclaimed writer with very few haters and making bank at Image. All because he understood his limits and didn't piss off fans on purpose.
Definitely not the outcome I was expecting.
>>90012694
Seriously who becomes a cop in this world, they probably have a higher death rate than soldiers in an active warzone.
>>90012734
exactly what i was thinking. same thing with swat teams and the like.
>>90012887
I'll be honest I expected the whole arm to come off.
Man, Deena was right to kick this piece of shit to the curb.
WHAT THE FUCK MAN!?!?!
>>90013098
>i love you so much im going to stab you
fucking wut
>>90013222
That happens relatively regularly in real life.
>>90013222
>>90013251
Yeah, most murders are crimes of passion.
You stupid stupid man.
I bet Art is immediately regretting his most recent decisions
Zzzap!
She seems oddly prepared for this
>>90013472
I mean she is a homicide detective so she should know how to cover one up, in addition she might have prepared for a powers mishap after developing them.
Fucking thorough

I really really liked this issue lol
>>90013986
>tfw Bendis draws better than Oeming
I would totally take something from that closet if given the opportunity.
>>90014025
Holy crap I didn't even notice that. I always forget that he used to be an artist
This kid needs a good ol' fashioned kick in the dick.
>>90014073
It would make me respect him a lot more if he wrote and drew something again. Brandon Graham once said something to the effect that there's nothing more personal to a creator than a work they both wrote and drew, and I think there's a lot of truth to that statement. I really miss the Bendis that was an indie darling, the young promise Quesada noticed. Oh well, them's the breaks I suppose.
>>90014269
The more I work on my own comic the more I begin to think that I already have such a familiarity with panel layout and structure, I could probably spend 4-5 years really improving my pencils to the point I could self publish. Writing, drawing, and sharing my work with /co/ would make me the happiest person in the world.
God this was a rough ending.
And that's going to be it for this thread! I hope everyone has been enjoying this storytimes. I look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow!!!!!
>>90014073
I never knew that about him myself, but it makes sense in retrospect. I always thought he wrote more like a cartoonist than many other cape writers. A lot of them write like they're writing prose, and cram a lot of narration into boxes. Bendis just uses a lot of dialogue, like he's doing a sequence of four-panel talking head cartoons.
>>90014398
If you think you've got the talent and your style fits the story, sure, go right ahead. Sky's the limit.
>>90013511
Just saw this comment. Nice thinking.
Also, this is Diamond's costume in the TV show adapted with Oeming's art. I think it's sexy as hell and I'm actually torn between which costume I prefer
Bendis has absolutely shattered my expectations with this series. All of the characters sound unique. The world building is top notch. And his plots genuinely keep me guessing. Anyone have any recommendations for series similar to this?
>>90014872
and its never going to be completed
