I've never read this this series before. Could anyone other than OP tell me how the series actually is? I see tha it's written by bendis so naturally I'm a bit skeptical

It stacks up fairly well but it also checks a lot of the boxes for me so I may be a bit biased towards it.

It's so refreshing to see a powers police force that's not a group of complete fuckups. Got the same feeling as when the Hulkbuster armor managed to subdue the Hulk in Age of Ultron. I knew they were going to have a confrontation but I sure as hell didn't predict Tony winning.

I only just finished the first Dawn of Man arc. I was already mildly enjoying this series but now I'm hooked.

Almost every page this issue is a double page spread. Reminds me of the Avengers Vol. 4 issue where every page was a splash page. I'm glad Bendis scripts these slightly experimental issues in every major series he writes. In particular, I'd argue when Bendis decides to write a "silent" issue it forces him to be that much more at the top of his game.

Don't know what to tell ya. Sorry you're incapable of enjoying it. I'm not going to say it's Shakespeare, but it's a ridcilous sarcastic reinvention of the master supercriminal facing off against the daring police officer. It's insane to the 9th degree with intricate plans that would have made Heath Ledger's plans in The Dark Knight look like best laid plans of preschoolers. McNiven keeps the comic progressing a brisk pace that never lingers for longer than a page or two in on a scene which just adds to the immediacey to the events.

We can certainly fix that. If you're looking for a good team book, Bendis may not be your best bet. He tends to do best when either writing his own properties or writing single characters. His work tends to suffer from "sameness" in dialog and in some works he's self indulgent to the point of obscenity, but he's a good idea man and can executive when suitably motivated.

Also it's a shame that we never got an adaptation of the Millennium Guard in the Powers TV show. It was almost certainly going to be featured in Season 3 but unfortunately the series was cancelled. Still won't stop me from enjoying it. It was unique to the say the least.
