I rewatched Tangled today, what do you think of Mother Gothel?
I can't hate Mother Gothel. She's still Rapunzel's adopted mother, even though Gothel stole Rapunzel. They did grow to love each other very much, and Gothel did a lot of loving things for Rapunzel like cook for her and go on long journeys.
Hating Mother Gothel would be like hating my own mother. Even though my own mother did some bad things, I still can't hate her. Tangled most likely will never get a true sequel, but I'm sure Rapunzel could never forget Gothel and still loves her.
the writers said that she loved rapunzel like a tool, the same way you would love your favorite bike

Death of the author desu
How long until the idiotic post-premiere hiatus is over?
Post funny boom moments

I still don't get this
but then who was key?
Was I the only one who watched this? If not, thoughts?
Missed opportunity. Could have been the next MLP. Instead they made a really boring paint by numbers middle of the road affair with clearly no talent behind it. Which was odd since it was basically Star Vs.
>>87679278
I did, I liked it. Reminded me of Star Vs.
Sad that they didn't make any more.
>>87679311
>>87679315
>Star Vs. mind.
So. Anyone see this tonight?
I gotta admit, it's not a great movie, but it's a fun, entertaining one. It gets some laughs.
>>87679273
I never liked the idea that a bunch of big dumb lugs like the Monstars could give Bugs Bunny that much hell
His whole career was dealing with big dumb lugs
>>87679273
There is a scene that shows a silhouette of Micheal Jordan in chains.
>>87679273
The sequel was better.
What the fuck was the fascination to make children versions of characters?
Muppets Take Manhattan had a segment about the characters as babies. While the film itself did respectably, that particular segment was super well-received and was responsible for Muppet Babies.
That show was a massive hit so everybody else tried to get in on the action.
80's marketing at work. How do you take adults or teenagers and make them more appealing to a wider audience? Make them into hip kids with attitude.

Had a thing for that style of Veronica at the time.
>comic book
>calls it a "graphic novel"
I don't understand the knee-jerk revulsion that a lot of people, even within the world of comics, seem to have towards the phrase "graphic novel." I think it's just a way to describe a certain publishing format when it comes to comics.
A "floppy," for example usually describes 24-30 pages of a monthly or bi-monthly comic periodical. A "trade paperback" usually describes a published paperback collection of floppies. An "omnibus" is usually a larger, hard-cover collection of a completed comic floppy run. A "graphic novel" is a self-contained story that is about as long as a novel, but with illustrated pictures and words being told in sequences instead of printed words.
I think the problem is that there are a variety of publishing formats (strip, floppy, TPB, omnibus, magazine, pamphlet, anthology, "graphic novel," webcomic, etc), for distributing works from the medium of panels illustrated in sequence to tell a cohesive story that are all lumped under the label "comic books," and there's some preconceived notions and stigmas surrounding comics in general, so the phrase "graphic novel" is seen as trying to legitimize comics or make it seem more respectable or more sophisticated than it is. But I don't see it that way.
>>87678973
Seriously. Terms used to identify a publication are are a means to an end. People who lose their shit over the term "graphic novel" are more pretentious than the authors who use the term.
>>87678973
>Watchmen
>Black Hole
>Maus
All critically acclaimed "graphic novels" that started as floppies or serials.
You can still solve for X and Y, right /co/?

I wonder if Katie and Ally are experiencing the same thing as Pasqualo, where he is having a terrible time, or each one is going through their own personal hell right now.
>>87678524
So the true hell begins
What is /co/'s opinion?
I just started watching. It has its moments. Worth continuing?
>>87678454
I liked it. Kind of King of the Hill mixed with Bojack Horseman. I see a lot of criticism for its slower pace, which I get, but I really love the themes and character development.I already loved Bill Bur though.
Also them ripping on symphonic metal is hilarious. It must have been what my parents thought all through my high school years.
I haven't watched it because I kind of got the impression it was a really stereotypical "family" sitcom... stubborn/stupid dad, rebel son, sweet mom, etc... does it really have character development?
>>87678842
Yup.
It portrays growing up in a house that is ready to break really well, and the only character who really doesn't get any arc is the daughter.
It isn't by any means an amazing or very deep show, and it isn't trying to be. It feels a little like if That 70s Show wasn't trying to be funny and people were just as shitty as people in real life tend to be. Or like, if you removed the heart from a National Lampoon's Vacation movie.
There is heart there, but there's a lot of cynicism and it is pretty well earned by all of the characters who are deeply unhappy with their lives but stuck in with the status quo because any attempt at change is a fight, either within the house or against the world as a whole.
It is only 6 episodes, and they go by pretty fast. I really enjoyed it because I grew up in that sort of environment and it helps humanize those sorts of people without asking you forgive them. Plus Bill Burr is great in it and there are some funny side gags.
Who win in a fight?
Us, if the Avatar girls are re-drawn with mega-hips.
Portals are broken as all hell.

Is Nala a Disney Princess?
I'd say so.
Queen, actually.
>>87678052
Ayy Redmayyne.
>>87678017
No, she is a shit character.
This always felt like one of the biggest examples of missed opportunity. I feel like the premise has a ton of potential, especially with Steph being given a "trial run" as Robin.
>>87677548
The concept was so awfully flawed from the start
>Batman has contigency plans where he creates a gang war to destroy Gotham and then ensure total control through his manipulating a fake new ganglord
>this will not backfire.jpg
>Steph being so badly written she needs to start a gang war to show she can be "worthy"
>Steph dying but lol not really
>the awful characterization of Leslie Thompkins
They made the mistake of centering the story exclusively around Bat-characters, and to make Batman a huge asshole again.
It would have been so much better if the war had been caused by natural gang events, and Batman having to deal with all the political, social implications, as well as countering the issues gangwise.
>>87677672
To be fair, Stephanie dying was supposed to stick. Until, well fans kind kept egging DC at cons about, "Where's muh memorial case?!"
Honestly, the meltdown Willingham had at a panel over being called out on this story is more memorable than the actual story.
>>87677548
What was it about this time period and so many forgettable bat crossover events? Were they trying to recapture the magic of NML?
Okay fellas, I found out my niece is into Supergirl. She's 6.
What do I get her for Christmas? She can read, but not too advanced.
I'd say that Superhero Girls trade that just came out. And et her one of those Superhero Girls dolls and one of those Bombshells mini figures for good measure.
>>87677494
Put a camera in the bathroom, gave her a lot of juices and a tiny super girl outfit.

S1
>not much of a following on /co/, some say it's worth watching until the end
S2
>show picks up viewers, hailed as delicate and accurate with adult issues
S3
>show is obviously popular, /co/ calls it surface level drama
Is this just the natural life cycle of shows here?
Plenty of people in /co/ enjoy it, you just assume everyone here is hiveminded and must share the same opinions, so when you see a single thread about people who don't like the show you equate it with everyone must not like the show.
And that's retarded.
>>87677284
I liked all three seasons. But 3 was the weakest one imo
