Marvel is in a state of chaos at the moment. Sales are in the shitter, their scheme to use variant covers to inflate sales failed and their retro-recolored/remastered old artwork variant cover scam is getting shitted on. And the Mockingbird controversies only made things worse in terms of being so bad, that even Brevoort was forced to passively defend people who cheered it's cancellation...
The election of Trump further adds to their woe as people are starting to make even BIGGER noise about getting off the sinking Titanic that is social justice themed comics. DC continuing to be doing record numbers sales-wise is the fuck you icing on the cake for the small but growing minority at the company.
The decision to unfuck the X-Men is part of the damage control, as Marvel is starting to realize that the X-Men books might be the only thing standing between them and ruin. Disney and Ike don't like the X-Books and let them go to ruin, but with Marvel hitting new sales lows, certain people have pushed back at Ike to get the X-Books relaunched with an eye towards having them bring in the money needed to justify keeping the social justice side of the company (IE the Avengers line) going in it's current direction.
As it stands though, Marvel is a bit fucked though: save for the X-Books/Inhumans, everything else at Marvel is booked in stone for the purpose of Clone Conspiracy, Civil War 2, and the upcoming Hydra War arc. So they have very little room to wiggle.
As it stands, Hydra War is being redone from top to bottom and Steve Rogers: Captain America is being secretly rewritten by committee with Nick Spencer reduced to dialogue writer after Hydra Cap blew up in everyone's face.

I know it got horrible reviews and people hated it, but I'll be honest, I kinda like it. It's fun and weird and bizarre. I don't know if that makes it a GOOD movie, but still.
And Monkeybone himself is a cool design.

So, after all the critical acclaim that Dr. Strange is receiving, i decided to watch.I thought that it was alright, a harmless fun movie, with pretty visuals but shallow. Nowhere as good as the critics are saying that it is.
Because of that i also decided to watch BvS, a movie of the same genre, that was destroyed by the same critics. Have in mind that i just watched the movie once, in the theaters, with my friends, i had a great experience and came back home, without much thought on it. But now, after watch the two movies, that sit in different sides of the hype created by the media, i can safely say that i don't understand why one was so much loved and the other so much hated.
I can see so much passion in the little details of BvS, like in Martha scene, that everybody seems to hate, ,you can clearly see Supes trying to say her surname, or he struggling as he watches the news and listens to everybody debating what his place in the world is, when he is completely lost, trying to do the best he can, even without knowing how. The music, the cinematography are great too. And in Strange, everthing is so effortless. Just one more Marvel movie.
Whats your opinion about all this? Is BvS that bad or Strange that good? Or is everybody wrong? and the truth lies in between?

BvS has a lot of legitimate problems, but overall I feel it gets right more than what it gets wrong. The Extended Cut helps add context, but doesn't fix the general editing problems that the movie has, in addition to other issues with characters like Wondy being flat and without a real purpose in the story other than hype building.
Dr. Strange was a boring color-by-numbers origin story that doesn't treat the source material with the gravitas it deserves. I feel like Cumberbatch plays a great Strange but the script hamstrings the character and prevent him from being really effective in terms of development. To be honest, they could've cut most of the first hour of the movie and not lost anything of importance.
I give BvS more credit because it at least takes more risks. Not all of them pay off, but I appreciate the thought.

- This slate was created by Geoff Johns and Zack Snyder. They meet once a week with Jon Berg during the filming of Justice League to create it. The idea pitched to the studio was to start the year off with some sort of spin off film that will set up or tie in to future events. The budget for these spin offs will range from 80-150 million dollars but the studio is willing to push a little further if they see potential while their solo films for their main heroes like Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman and Superman will have have budgets between 175-190 million.
- Deathstroke, Crime Syndicate and Green Arrow were Snyder's idea while Legion of Superheroes and both Titans films were Geoff Johns idea.
- The Legion of Superheroes spin off will focus on Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy and Lighting Lad. The idea is to take sort of a X-Men First Class approach with the film.
- The studio already has back up plans in case their slate doesn't work out. If their current slate doesn't work out, they studio will cancel their shared universe and instead focus on individual stories like Kingdom Come, The Long Halloween or All Star Superman.

- Warner Bros is currently developing TV shows for The Question and Thomas Wayne. Most likely both shows will air on HBO and will connect to the DCEU.
- Harley Quinn's spin off started development two months ago and is a top priority at Warner Bros. Harley Quinn won't be in Suicide Squad 2 but might return for the third film. The Riddler will be the main antagonist.
- Suicide Squad 2 will have a completely different team line up. Killer Frost and Black Manta will be added to the team. David Ayer has been working on the script for months and the studio is pleased with Suicide Squad's performance at the box office. The plan is to have Bane as the villain with Cheshire and Copperhead as his henchwomen. The team would have to rescue Rick Flagg who was captured and imprisoned in Santa Prisca. The film will have a lower budget than Suicide Squad. The Suicide Squad film series are now considered spin offs.
- Man of Steel 2 will take heavy inspiration from Earth One and Superman Unchained. General Sam Lane and Parasite will be the villains. Man of Steel 3 will wrap the trilogy with Brainiac.
- Ben Affleck is on board on creating a full Batman trilogy. Warner Bros will also give him any projects he wants in between Batman films. Batman's role in the Justice League films will become smaller to give Affleck some breathing room for his Batman films and smaller projects.

- Deathstroke, Titans and Titans 2 will work as some sort of trilogy. Deathstroke will focus on his origins. Titans might not feature Deathstroke directly but his family will have a big role while Titans 2 will adapt Judas Contract. The Titans line up will be diverse. Vibe, Static and Blue Beetle are being discussed as potential members.
- The Flash will have the Rogues as villains. Reverse Flash is being saved for Flash 2 and Flashpoint.
- Darkseid is the villain for Justice League 2. Geoff Johns and Zack Snyder wrote the story and Christopher McQuarrie will turn it into a script.
- The Green Lantern Corps will have a big role in Phase 3 and Sinestro will be the villain for Justice League 3. John Stewart will stay as a main member of the Justice League but Hal Jordan will not. Green Lantern Corps 2 will be a Hal Jordan story.
- Justice League 4 will feature the Crime Syndicate and will adapt Forever Evil and previous Crime Syndicate stories. The main Justice League will have a small role.
- News Gods and Justice League 5 will take inspiration from the Darkseid War story arc and Jack Kirby's work. The idea pitched is Orion being the main protagonists for New Gods and Mister Miracle will also have a big role. Justice League 5 will adapt the basics of Darkseid War but not directly adapt the comic book.

- Dark Universe script is being rewritten and Trigon will be the main villain. This film will also introduce Raven into the DCEU. The original Guillermo del Toro line up will still be used.
- The plan for Aquaman 2 is to adapt Throne of Atlantis. Geoff Johns is thinking about taking a Civil War approach with the film with two main characters being the focus, Aquaman and Ocean Master, but other characters appearing.
- Martian Manhunter will be part of the DCEU but not anytime soon. Some of his powers that are similar to Superman might be removed.

Now that we've had issues from all 4 titles, how would you rank the Young Animal books? I think all are worth reading, but I'd rank them like this:
Shade > Mother Panic > Doom Patrol > Cave Carson
I was surprised at how this turned out, as Shade and Mother Panic were the ones that I'd been less interested in when they were first announced.
Which other characters would you like to see in their own Young Animal book? I'd like to see them do a Slam Bradley crime series.
