Now the blueberry is one that can't work on it's own, it has to have something with it like the kiwi it's a...not a...

my brother and i will get a costco sized carton of blueberries and demolish them in one sitting, they're delicious on their own. Same with kiwis
This is a shit thread, unless this is some meme that I'm not aware of

That's a subjective question governed by personal likes and dislikes.
What are some good liquors that can be enjoyed neat, besides whiskey? I want to step up my game from college-tier cocktails. I'm talking the stuff you see in movies that the cultured sophisticated men pour out of crystal bottles. Had some amaretto after a dinner recently and it was lovely, what else is there that I've been missing?
>>7640932
Cocktails? What kind?
>>7640932
Literally anything can be had neat
The issue is having a liquor of suitable quality to be neat.
Gin neat? Boodles or Hendricks
Rum neat? Appleton Estate 12 year reserve
Amaretto? Any over $20 a bottle
Lairds Applejack is good neat
So is Campari
Brandy/Cognac/Armagnac are all served neat - Courvoisier is good without going into debt.

Gross, the fries are touching the dirty ass tray.
Are there any essential books on cooking, not just recipe books but something that actually teaches you the basics / techniques?
I'm surprised if there aren't some classic books on cooking.
The pic's a hamburger I made last year, was pretty damn tasty.

There's mold on the cheese wtf is wrong with you
i'd save money and just use youtube for techniques
I cooked this steak and I just want to say I love meat.
>>7640026
looks cooked to perfection senpai. give that bone to a dog or something
>>7640211
>not gnawing on the bone
>ooh look at me, I'm so civilized
>>7640216
This. If you don't scrape every last bit of meat off the bone before cracking it open and sucking out whatever marrow ifs left, you just don't like steak.
Go have some porridge or something.
ITT: Dumb shit you did when you were younger/first learning how to cook
>Cooking everything on the highest possible setting
>Pressing burgers
>frying something in a pan
>use plastic slotted spoon
>ruined both the pan and the spoon because that fucker melted on contact
It was okay though, I think my mom laughed so hard it cured her cancer.
>>7640017
Ohgod, all the time. That's how my dad taught me to cook them. I had to learn on my own that it's a retarded way to do it.
I just started a job as a food runner and two days in my tender ass feet are pounding. Will I be fine with some doctor sholls insoles or should I opt for some specialized shoes instead? If so what brands should I be looking at?
This has literally nothing to do with food.
Also, it really speaks bounds about millennials when they can't even stand for 8 hours without running to their doctor for some orthotic prescription footwear.

american here, mum wants me to cook some mexican food tomorrow for cinco de mayo. anyone have any good easy recipes? not really concerned with how authentic it is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2ewH1BnqVo
We're having taco pie. You break up a bunch of shells, mix w ground beef and cheese, layer of cheese on top and bake. Top w sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes
I'm making abondigas, ceviche, guacamole, mango salsa, green tomato salsa and red snapper vera cruz style.
others are bringing the main dishes and other mexican accompaniments...tequila.
/ck/, I have an intense hatred of ketchup that goes beyond disliking the flavor. For some reason, my brain does not regard it as food. The mere smell makes me want to vomit, and the thought of eating it is completely unimaginable. I find it completely repulsive, from the way it looks inside a half-full bottle to the way it looks on the corners of someone's mouth. I am afraid to go near people who are eating something with ketchup because I always imagine the microscopic flecks they're probably going to emit in my direction. I can't even resolve myself to touch ketchup bottles because there might be some on the outside.
Last night I was on a date with this girl, and we went to a mid-scale burger place (Bubby's in Manhattan). She put ketchup on her burger. I was able to sack up and ignore it during dinner, but the date went well enough that we went back to her apartment afterwards. Things were going to move forward, but she leaned in for a kiss and I smelled the ketchup on her breath and panicked, and instinctively pushed her away. She looked confused and hurt, and the only thing I could come up with was to bumble up a lie about being late for a TV show, and left her house. I don't plan on talking to her again after this embarrassment.
I now realize that I need to get over this ketchup phobia if I'm going to be a functional member of society. What are some strategies to force yourself to like foods?
>>7639804
Exposure therapy is the best way to get over phobias.
On the off chance this isn't pasta, how do you feel when you smell or taste vinegar? I don't think it would be too odd to just be averse to the vinegar aspect of ketchup, and it is the most common food item containing it.
How do you feel about tomatoes outside of ketchup?
I am trying to eat better and am aware that I haven't really eaten a salad or green vegetables in a very long time.
Today I went to McDonald's and got a Southwest crispy chicken salad and a Diet Coke. I started eating it in the parking lot and just could not enjoy it. I ended up picking at it for 5 minutes then just tried to eat as much salad as I could with each chicken bite.
It was the first time I've thrown out fast food before, and it was over half full. I ended up driving to another McDonald's and got a Jr. McChicken and QPC because I was still really hungry. So it ended up costing me a lot more for dinner than normal, which was vexing.
Is salad an acquired taste? There was nothing enjoyable about the texture and sort of bitterness of eating leafy vegetables.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I looked at the Wendy's menu and there are some interesting ones to try involving chili that may ease me into healthy eating.
Thanks

"Eating better" doesnt actually mean anything. Just count calories like a non-fat fuck.

Are chopsticks functional?
Sure, but you have to eat with the bowl next to your mouth and it makes you look like a child.
I think they're FUNctional :3c

Where are these steaks being served? Is this for real?
The one the guy cooked didn't look like a steak at all.
Apparently corporate restaurants often use meat glue.
Honestly, the first time I've ever seen it used in North America was at the flagship location of a trendy corporate group. It was hilariously bad. One of their "specials" was a bone in piece from what appeared to be a short rib, attached to a filet. It didn't even look it belonged to the same animal. They even tried to convince me it was standard practice. The majority of their ribeyes and a few strips were glued in some form. End pieces being stitched together, mis-butchered pieces being repaired. I'm led to believe it's common. However, I've never seen smaller independent restaurants using it, and they're quite simple to identify.
>steak tends to tear apart around non-fat seams
>changing grain
>irregular grain or warping(generally if the 2 pieces have dissimilar marbling)
>wah wah enzymes waaaaaaaaah
The instructions says to leave the plastic film while baking it in the oven. Anyone have experience with this?
>>7639272
you'd probably get better results by taking the film off and covering it with foil. but since it's a pre-made Stouffers product, "better" is relative.
Why the fuck are you even buying a shitty microwave dinner if you don't even own a microwave?
>>7639272
just do whatver they say unless it's adding extra topping to frozen pizza
