Is there a more overrated cuisine than soul food? Collards are salty, worse spinach, fried chicken is whatever. I'm sick of this meme food.
>>8339865
Is there a board that /pol/ doesn't shit up?
>>8339865
It' brey good. Some things might be overrated but Collards, and Fried chicken are not one of them.
>>8339879
Collards are horribly overrated. They're an average side dish. It's literally impossible to make them so good that someone is blown away by them.
So I made some extra crispy fried chicken last night for a friend and he said it was "too crispy".....is that fucking possible?
I thought everyone loved it as crispy as can be
>>8339845
>too crispy
If you've cooked the chicken to a the point of being nothing more than greased jerky, it may be too crispy, Anon.
>>8339845
He is not a friend.
>>8339845
If it cuts the roof of your mouth while chewing it is too crispy.

Hey /ck/. So it's my turn to do Christmas this year and I've never done it before. :o( I'm also not much of a chef but I hope to figure it out. I got 8 people coming.
What do you guys think of this for the menu?
Have out when people arrive:
cheese and crackers and maybe some salami or something mixed in
Dinner:
14-lbs turkey
Sweet Potato Casserole
Green beans?
Bread (worth making home made or just buy some shit?)
Stuffing (home made or should I buy it?)
Desert:
Apple pie?
Banoffee pie?
(for desert there are only 8 people and historically people have been stuffed after dinner so not much desert eating, so having two is just for giving choices reasons)
I'll also get some champaign and wine. Maybe some red wine, what kind of red goes good with turkey/christmas dinner? Should I get some good beer too?
>>8339216
if you've never baked bread before you should just buy it from a bakery. for dessert you should include an assortment of cookies as well as a pie, you can bake them days ahead and you won't have to make 2 pies the day of
>>8339220
Thanks, that's a good idea! Yeah I'm a bit worried about having to make a bunch of stuff day of. The sweet potato casserole I see I can pre prep everything the day before, keep in the fridge, and then just bake day off.
Beans I was thinking of because I have a steamer.
>>8339216
>what kind of red goes good with turkey/christmas dinner?
Lighter reds like Pinot Noir or Beaujolais.
is the cheeseburger diet just a meme?
I had a friend lose a lot of weight, he claims it was the cheeseburger diet.

>>8338872
You could lose weight just by eating less but it would be extremely unhealthy.
>>8338872
>before we do this diet lets do some ketosis
wew very original
What do you call these?
I don't know if this is a traditional untranslatable food or what but I can never explain it to anybody (that's not from my country). I've seen "cheesecake" but that doesn't seem accurate at all.
Egg tarts

/thread/
This is what is known as a "quiche".
Lmao @ "egg tarts".
I need your opinion on two things /ck/,
I made some brown-butter seared salmon, finished up in parchment in the oven, served on top of a schmear of dill-rosemary lemon-curd - a splash of white wine and a tiny bit more butter to clean the pan, drizzled lightly on top the fish with a parsley, served with roasted potatoes and arugula with a honey-poppyseed-shallot dressing. It was supposed to be dinner for me, my roommate and our girlfriends.
My girlfriend never showed up, and neither did my roommate, but his girlfriend happily ate dinner with me.
1 - Was it an alright idea for a last minute double-date Sunday dinner thing?
2 - The roomie's gf and I are both pretty good friends, but not attracted to each other. Should we take a semi-risque photo together and send it to the other two?
>>8337952
>1 - Was it an alright idea for a last minute double-date Sunday dinner thing?
Sure sounds nice, as long as you didn't overdo the salmon. Easy to do if it's twice-cooked.
>2 - The roomie's gf and I are both pretty good friends, but not attracted to each other. Should we take a semi-risque photo together and send it to the other two?
'no'

Your life is so cute and carefree

do it, they're probably boning each other anyways
Lucky me, found a bottle of Isle of Skye 8-year aged scotch on sale tonight. Not too familiar with this particular brand but I'm hoping for good things. Is anyone intimate with this particular bottle?
Also, Whiskey General.
I myself prefer snake whiskey. Though, I some times like to spice it up and have whiskeys with a scorpion or two in the bottle with the snake.
>>8338370
Holy shit, are the snakes still alive in there?
>>8339575
yes but they are very drunk
A slice of American cheese and mayonnaise. Simple, but it was always seemingly my go to snack after I got home from school as a child/teen.
Obviously it's not the best sandwich, or the one I'd want if I had more time to think about it, but it was the first sandwich that came to mind when I think of "sandwich".
PB and J was second.

Hey /ck/,
Recently I've been getting into making Breton food and I was wondering if anyone had any good recipes,
I know the basic ones like crepes/galletes with a mug of cider and kig ha farz.
Boil a 'to or two
just eat country bumpkin food and get drunk while crying about your violin
