How much money do you need to invest to get a return of $1000/mo to support a basic NEET lifestyle?
49 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I'd only count on about 7-10% return before taxes. People can get more, but it's high risk and therefore not suitable for NEETing.

You need stable income to live off of.
>>
>>1246925

so $171,428?
>>
>>1246913
Say a really good dividend stock pays a 10% dividend. You'd need $120,000 in those stocks to return $12,000 a year (or an average of $1,000 a year).

So probably a minimum of $120,000. Of course there's going concern of the company maintaining that dividend and that also ignores the potential loss on price of a stock, but besides that.

Billing/Accounting/other paperwork software makes the job a breeze. So instead of having 1+ accountant per company you'll have freelance accountants and companies offering their services to dozens of businesses as needed, sort of like lawyers.

Doesn't really matter what you major in at this point.

The market's totally fucked and everyone wants 5 trillion years experience in some highly specialized subfield before considering to actually pay you.

Experience > Degree

Feel free to go to school, get internships/work experience while you go though. It's the only way you have a chance of not working retail the rest of your life.

I'm almost 30. I have 3 friends who majored in psych.

One with 30 years experience in a job, now counsels former members of his niche

The other was wholly unemployable and after being kicked out of 4 rental agreements finally got their shit together and went to law school

The other just got fired from an assistant manager job at aeropostale.

It's good, outside certain industries hours in finance can be very manageable. People here do manage to raise kids and families, so there is always a good balance if you can get your work done on time.

I'm a recluse by New York standards, but I still find time to hang out with friends on weekends or go out to dinner.

Is Marriage the biggest financial mistake someone can make in this day and age?

Seems downright retarded.

>Over 50% divorce rate in the US
>Tons of unhappy marriages yet still not getting divorced(statistic would be even higher)
>Pretty much required to have expensive wedding for social acceptance
>Need to buy several thousand dollar wedding rings
>Wife can easily just divorce you because she's "unhappy" and take a large portion of your things
>Prenups are usually thrown out in court for arbitrary reasons - before anyone suggests that.
>Have to have sex with the same pussy all the time for 10+ years as it rapidly decreases in not only quality, but also enthusiasm and frequency

>If you ever have children enjoy like ~$150k+ total spendings to get them to adulthood
>Those child(ren) will probably hate you for some reason and you'll have wasted 18 years to raise them(at minimum)

Why do idiots even get married these days? I don't understand it. I have never seen anyone 10+ years married who was happy with their life, ever. They're happy first 2-3 years because it's new and fresh but soon it dies.

I'm sure your parents are so proud of you for letting your bloodline die out. The reason you were brought into this world was to breed and continue your bloodline. It's pathetic that you refuse to do so because you're too fucking cheap and lazy.

I don't think they care. I'm not an only child, my sister can continue the bloodline or whatever and remain poor.

Alright, so in multiple occasions I've come to the situation in which I want to sell something I can dispose of, and oftentimes in the hurry of selling it fast, I lower the price of it.
People approach it, look at it, ask about the price, I say it, they ask why is it so low, and even with a certificate that it works - like a fixing receipt with warranty -, they chicken out of it.

And when they don't, they'll ask for a ridiculous discount I obviously won't provide, because I already priced it 'fairly', in my mind.

And I lower the price to say, a 3/4ths of what it costed new, depending on what is the normal depreciation of a product from the moment you open it.

Lately I've been overpricing the shit I sell, to fulfill the discount request and still cash something, and it's working better than the other thing I explained.

Now, I understand that people are suspicious if something appears to be too good.

I want to know if any of you know about any study regarding pricing, what people lean towards more, what they amount they find fair to pay over stuff, when cheap is too cheap.
I might get laughed at for being an idiot, but I'm not greedy.

they'll respect you more if you know how to negotiate. people would rather buy things from someone that's obviously just trying to make money rather than someone selling something seemingly at no profit.

if you wanna be in business selling stuff, you NEED to be greedy, at least to a certain degree. you got customers that are gonna be greedy.

Hey /biz/

I've got acces to a very cheap goverment student loan ~ €750,- a month at 0.01% interest a year but i don't need it so i don't use it atm.

The terms of the loan state that:
>you have to pay off the loan in 35 years
>interest can vary but will be relatively low
>you can redeem the whole loan at once if you have the money without extra fines
>you have to pay a maximum of 4% of your current income

I know it will affect what mortage i can get and if i just put it in the bank inflation will eat my money away. I want to invest the money in a way with not too much risk to gain 3-4% a year. However i dont know much about investing.

I'm thinking of contacting a financial advisor about this but first i would like to know what /biz/ thinks about this. After all it's money i don't have so any tips and advise would be welcome.

>You can't buy the market so... BUY BUY BUY DO IT NOW DUMP YOUR LIFE SAVINGS INTO VTSAX DO IT JUST DO IT YOU IDIOT

Anyone else completely turned off from taxable accounts? It's one thing to hold index funds in accounts you shouldn't even access for three decades, but I've got a good $50k sitting in savings doing nothing. It's upsetting because the money has no goal and I don't need or want to save for anything but the Boglehead argument do just throw it all into equities and "forget about it for a century" isn't very convincing...

I mean, if you're maxing out your 401(k) and IRAs then open up a brokerage account and write covered calls. Shit is great. Buy your stock low. Write covered calls on it. Collect premiums. If call goes in the money, you still make money off your long position.
