Did you have to meet people in person or link your bank account?
Is being an IBO of amway worth the time and money? I've heard some controversial things about it, such as how it's a "legal pyramid business" but other than that the other IBOs seem to like it.
I've paid $315 for a website and a sample package and it just arrived. What I'm supposed to do is sell Amway's products to family members and friends and the like, but all of Amway's products seem bland, boring, and overpriced. It seems like general shit.
Anyone got any personal stories about Amway, or am I dumbass for even considering being part of it?
pic related, some of their products.
No it's not worth it.
>>1243592
Do you have any personal experiences, or...?
>>1243597
well do you really think you can sell that garbage when you can buy real shit off amazon for cheaper?
Who else here has worked at a shitty entry level job? What did you learn from your experience?
I worked in the backroom at a Target in a somewhat rural part of Texas. I was surprised at how many people would get transferred here from the northeast. I also learned that if anybody is ever transferred from another Target store, it's almost always because they're lazy as shit, and it's hard to fire them as long as they at least show up to work.
Worked the line at Chipotle.
I acquires insane people skills and charm. People wrote me ridiculously positive yelp reviews. Gay guys posted on craigslist missed connections about how cute I was.
Overall though it sucked. That's why I quit after a month and got an actually cool job.

>I acquires insane people skills and charm.
Really? Seems like you could just stand there and scoop food while smiling every few mnutes or so.
Same. Warehouse at Target nearly 20 years ago.
First job and taught me i was hired to do a job first and foremost. Managers and supervisors don't give a shit if you're funny or people like you if you don't do the work they need done to do their job properly.
I didn't even learn it myself, my uncle in law made the fact clear under no uncertain terms that this was the case when i was bitching my supervisor out one day.
I was 14 at the time but that stuck with me.
Hey biz! Tomorrow I will exactly 10 days to somehow get $300. I don't have many resources. Please provide some ideas to get money fast online or in person.
>inb4 suck 300 dicks

I'm preparing to start a digital marketing and web development company at some point in the future after I've learned as much as I can from my current job and I'm curious about what advice /biz/ might have.
What are some common pitfalls of starting a business? Do you have any advice? Any anecdotes from your own experiences?
DON'T hire, make business deals with, or take a friend as a partner.
>>1243280
Duly noted. Any other pieces of wisdom to impart?
>>1243280
I agree to an extent. There are exceptions to this rule, but it is rare. Sometimes a friend, not a fucking acquaintance that wants to freeload, can be beneficial especially if he is willing to start from the bottom and work his ass off in your company or business to get to the top. Then you'd have someone you know and can truly depend on to be one of your big dogs in the company. It's rare, but it does happen.
not really about money or anything, but how the fuck do you promote something? i want to promote my music but it alwaysfail and im sick of my shit friends who either steal my work or dont care about it.
TL;DR help me promote my music cos i wanna get famoos

You'll never make it. The music industry is a mame. If suck enough dick you might make it. But then you'll blow your own brains out or die of an o.d. or you could get a good career going. But youd make no money.
I have a job but it's not enough. Plus I hate it.
I'm broke and I need to find a way of making money other than working in this shitty job until I find a new one.
I would like serious answers, no sucking dicks and selling your ass kind of answers.
Thanks!

What's stopping a rich person from buying like 5000 acres, building a town, and then renting out space to people to live in?
Let them build shops, etc. etc. you'd be like a medieval lord. The only thing is you wouldn't be able to pass laws. I wonder how profitable it would be?
Also, if you allowed them to start their own business on your land, is that possible and could you demand to get a cut of the profits?
I suspect there would be some fairly major logistical and legal roadblocks, but I really want to get rich enough to try this now.
>>1243114
The state government would come raining down on you and force you to hold elections, have city officials, open schools, pave roads, etc.
There is no reason for a private person to build infrastructure and a whole city when people are willing to pay for it through property taxes already. For your plan to work, the rent for everything would have to be astronomical to make up for the cost of building the infrastructure, and no one would move there.
Oh shit, totally just randomly popped into my head, but you guys remember those coupons we used to have?
Do those still work? I still have a folder of some, all expired of course.
To be honest I never worked up the courage to try and use one.
Wasn't on /biz/ I guess, I only saw them on /b/ and it was a while back too.
No clue if /b/ still does it, hadn't been there in years and the archive is down so I can't check.
Surely someone remembers.

I currently contribute 6% to my employer's 401k, which is the highest they match. If I want to save more, say 10%, would it be wiser to just put 4% more unmatched into the 401k or open a Roth IRA and put 4% into it?
>>1242773
You should be contributing all the money you don't need for living expenses into your retirement account. I max out a $53k 401k, a $5.5k Roth, and a $3k HSA, and I still wish I had access to more tax advantaged retirement accounts. Unfortunately, 40k a year goes into taxable assets which the government goes full jew on the earnings.
>>1242777
how much do you earn to where you can max out retirement accounts, yet still earn less than the income limit for roth?
You're lucky you're in that goldilocks zone
>>1242773
probably better in low-cost index funds in a roth IRA. compare what you would invest in if you had a roth ira to what your 401k is invested in. usually the employer sponsored plans have pretty high management fees. check out vanguard ETFs and index funds... they have some of the least expensive funds available.
Vanguard average ETF expense ratio: 0.12%
Industry average ETF expense ratio: 0.53%
So /biz/, my girlfriend and I are moving into an apartment together. Worst case scenario and things don't work out between us, how would I go about securing myself to where I wouldn't get screwed over by signing the lease with her?
>>1242748
don't put your name on the lease
>>1242748
Only have one persons name on lease and have $1200 saved so if shit hits the fan you can call cops and have her ejected or you can find a new place and move out. I just went thru this. I failed horribly she fucked a big for drugs and I ended up not on the lease on my friends couch with an $800 electric bill in my name. Good luck, I hope she's a better woman than a drug addicted stripper
Most landlords, the good ones anyway, will have a separate contract for each person living in the house or apartment.
The other option is only having one person's name on the lease, preferably hers. That way you can just leave and not be responsible if shit hits the fan.

Must feel good to live in a civilized country.
I hate living in the third world, fuck the "land of the free"
What does it feel like, not being special because you have a degree? I earn twice as much as my high school class mates just because I studied business and that's my starting selary where they have 5 years work experience. They didn't study because they're fucking cheap shits. Thank god I live in a country where being rich pays off! Only reason why I would go to your country is to fuck your hot mom as all the women from age 8 till 80 are hot over there!
Hey /biz/raelites,
Opened a new business in a big US city. It's a sandwich shop that sells sandwiches that look like mana from heaven and taste like it too. We have a storefront which is pulling in like $500 a day, and most of the income is coming from catering. Right now I'm pulling in around $1200-$1500 a day, which isn't enough to break even. I need to make around 2000 a day to break even on costs (which are high as shit in this city, not to mention we buy good ingredients).
I have confidence in my product, it looks like pic but actually better and more filling and less greasy. It would be a hit with wedding catering (right now we do mostly office buildings through catering companies). I don't really know anyone in the catering industry and I feel like my shit would sell fast if people were given the option and knew about it.
How do I branch out? Do I start cold calling the results when I google "wedding planners"? Kinda running out of capital soon(it's been maybe 8 months since I opened). Things are getting better every month but I need to double down now but don't know how. Any advice?
>>1242702
Spam big companies with 10% discount letters. Insurance offices, banks, engineering, software, marketing, etc... anywhere where office plebs have money to spare for your fancy sadwitches.
Source: office pleb
>>1242706
I'm not gonna start pulling in big bucks by people visiting in store though, it's not like a shitty Subway style place. It's the kind of thing that's too expensive for people to want for lunch, but everyone loves it when it's offered as a catering option. Not sure if sending out coupons will help with that.
>>1242709
Thats exactly what I mean - they'll order catered lunches when they have team lunches, going away lunches, milestone launch lunches, etc... The closest ones will come in, rest will order. Create the coupon and spam to 100 large and 500 medium companies. GO.
