>TFW almost 22 years old and STILL living with my parents

Who else here fell for the fucking "don't move out until you're 30" meme? Worst fucking idea ever, the pitiful money you save is not worth it.

>>
22 is not that old to be living with your folks, but if you don't like it, move out.
>>
>>1263414
are you working full time and saving as much as you can so that you can move out and find an apartment?
>>
>>1263414
I live with my parents and work full time, Unless your parents are insufferable, living with them is the smarter choice. Majority of people your age that move out are barely scraping by.

I have over $1m in cash, split among 5 major banks in Australia.

I'm essentially waiting until the economy collapses, then i'm going to throw it all into stocks and property.

However, I'm a little concerned about what happens when the economy collapses. I fear that my money will be inaccessible, and be eaten by the banks in a bail in.

I am currently also holding a diversified stock portfolio, precious metals and some cryptos.

Would appreciate any advice on what I should do with my cash, if anything, to ensure that i'm able to use it to profit during the crash.

>>1263287
Cash in a vault would be the best bet, of course. Other than the danger someone could steal it obviously.
>>
May I ask how you plan to predict which stocks and properties will reboot?
>>
>>1263287

Look at what happened in greece. You wont be able to get your money during a bail in. If aus is anything like the us with the FDIC, banking deposit insurance will only cover the tiniest local banks default. No one can insure for a bank run on a national scale, which is what is what would happen in a serious crash

Most online brokerage accounts will allow you to open an international account adjoined to it. You'll have to transfer US dollars and fill out a US tax declaration form

I'm a Junior finance major, pretty much don't know what the fuck I'm doing. Getting good grades and shit, I just feel like I don't have the practical knowledge to do anything.

So /biz/, I come to you to ask: what should I learn on my own before I graduate (or things that will put me one step ahead)? I'm mostly talking technical skills like programming of some sort, SQL, specific things with excel... I don't know, that's why I'm asking.

Also any certifications that could help, and advice on where to start. Like CFA, CPA, etc.

I'm just trying to be a little more productive with my free time and do shit that'll look nice on a CV, or actually help me in the future.

I'm going to be a junior finance major, just finished my sophomore year. Study for the CFA. It's fucking crucial that you pass this and get your Level 1 before you even try and get even into an entry-level job.

Excel, learn fucking excel. Intern. Work for free. Get to know people and make connections. That's all you can do. Talk to your professors too, get to know them, some of them are surprisingly well connected and can offer you advice if you're a good student, maybe even put your name out there. If you're GOING to be a junior, don't worry about CFA for a year, just focus on getting all As and sucking your professors dick (or frat brothers dick) for connections and recommendations. If you're entering your senior year, start studying for Level 1 CFA so you can pass it. Learn the fuck out of Excel and even Python/R while you're at it.

So, I have $50k saved up and make $10k/month. Due to the circumstances of my job, that's about $7k/month CLEAR straight to my bank account.

That feeling when you want to invest and step up your game, but can't find any investment opportunities.

So???, I have saved nothing, I make nothing a month. I could be millionaire with a starting budget of $1000.

btw: if you wonder why I don't have money, I just got out of prison and have no papers.

next year I will have my business up and running. Then I will contact you guys of biz again (under the name FREEHOBO2016).

I will show you how to get multi-millionaire with my company.

You guys have no skills because you have no heart, you can't think how other people think, because you are selfish.

Your grandfather survived by using abusing others, or they snitched some neighbour to the church, because they were a witch

your great grandfathers and mothers were heartless pirates. who abused and used other people.

The church burned a lot of "witches" in the middle ages.

BUT THOSE PEOPLE WERENT WITCHES

those were people who got snitched by your great grand family. They thought lets snitch our neighbour for being a with, so we get rid of him..

A lot of good people died.

sneaky people survived, the Jews are the biggest example to that.

Degree matters far, far less than your school, networking, and location. I've seen many english and history majors in IB.

What school do you go to?

obviously a really really good one or at least ill put that or now that ive read this comment ill put a mid tier school and a blurb about how i understand the value of hard work and despite my school being average i already have the beginnings of being wildly successful

Should we have bailed them out?
24 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
I think so.

It was really the initial explosion that triggered the panic.

If they had saved those first two firms, and then used bailouts and damage control the collapse of 2008 could have been spread out instead of every industry getting hammered for 2 years.

But I guess ultimately it wouldn't have changed TOO much. The shit securities and loan defaults had to be atoned for.

>talking as if we aren't sucking lehman' cock for money
>believing we had an option
>>
>>1263084

The system was doomed before 2007. Letting Lehman collapse made a pretty clear statement pre-recession: the government will kindly watch you die. It moved a lot of banks in the direction of playing safe during 2008-2009, up until Dodd-Frank explicitly enforced stricter regulation. If Lehman had been bailed out, it still would have eventually failed (similar to Bear Sterns).

Bailing out AIG, however, was essential, and could not be avoided.

Is changing your last name worth it? Anyone here do it?

I was thinking it would be useful for SEO, aesthetic purposes and distancing yourself from your previous non professional life.

Not sure what I would change it to. Lots of celebrities have done it.

No you dumbfuck. That's your heritage.

Even Osama Bin Ladan's daughter that was living in the US and never met him didn't change her last name.

Having a fucked up family doesn't mean anything. No one actually gives a fuck about your no name family's bad reputation.

>Lots of celebrities have done it.

You're confusing having a stage name with legally changing your name.
>>
>>1262948

What if your heritage doesn't mean anything? I'm not royalty, it literally doesn't matter because no one in my family was anything more than a regular pleb really
>>
>>1262948
OK point taken.

It's not really that my name is linked to a bad thing, it's just long and cumbersome. Hard to remember and spell for clients.

I am also unable to have a stage name due to my name needing to be registered with regulatory organizations in my field. Not dismissing your post just clarifying my dilemma.

Anyone else want to chip in?

Find something you love and live to work. You'll be happier overall. If you are successful, you spend a majority of your waking time at work anyway, may as well enjoy it

I live to work, but that's because not working gets me wallowing in self pity, depression, and self loathing.

I'd rather be working that sitting in the company of myself for hours.

It is the other way arround, Americans most certainly work to live (the american dream and all that shit). I don't know Europeans, but from what I know they are all social-democrats there, so their whole life is based on working, not achieveing.

yeah it's helping, i uncover a bit more as i go along

right now im just listening to all the positive audiobooks, it raises my hopes, and let's me understand the brilliance of self-made people. I have the frugalness to do it. But I'm ruled by fear and comfort... and have laziness habits. ATM i have 3 medical ailments, I am afraid of ending up hospitalized again. If it wasn't for my insurance... the bill was 50,000... like what...? I was only there for 3 days...

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to living in cheaper parts of america vs near big big cities? I'm living with parents near NYC. But I'm ready to pack up and move down south and live on my own. Since it's the trial of independence.

just remember that increased reward (even beyond the lame 1% banks are paying) equals increased risk.
This applies to everything, so remember it when people shill you about great ways to get rich.

Hello everyone,

I'm no stranger to 4chan but I am new to /biz and will do some digging around in various threads and see what I can take from it.

Basically I'm broke, early 20's just barely scraping by and in need of some good ideas to make more money (etc. investments, stocks, ...) and figured I'd post on here and hopefully get some kind of response.

What I AM looking for: some way to invest my money/increase my bank account to have a nice cushion that I never really had.

What I AM NOT looking for: get rich quick, pyramid scheme, hand-out.

As is I already work 40+ hours a week and I'm burning myself out. If anyone could help I would be immensely grateful

Thanks from OP

First thing you need to do is a detailed budget. Poor people, that's us, lie to themselves about their wasteful expenditures. Only when you have every expense/debt on paper next to your income + assets will you truly understand your position.

If you're serious, open up bare-bones excel sheet and fill it with every expense. Ive attached an example of one i made for myself. I did it weekly because i get paid weekly. Ive converted all my bills into weekly amounts.
Notice how i even have "coffee" listed under debits? Because i spend 5$ every working day on a large flatwhite. Be honest about your bullshit.

I even highlighted my compound interested formula calculation that takes into account monthly contributions at multiple rates.
