Here is my current situation:
>graduated less than two weeks ago
>have job lined up beginning august 1st, offer is for 85k
>will likely be living alone in a place that has rent between 1600-2000 (am hoping for 1700 but the market is competitive)
>will have to sign a year lease and will be working at my place of employment for at least 6 months
>will not own a car
>am a male in my early twenties with no spouse
>after 6 months my pay will jump to between 90-100k (exiting the training program and being placed in a permanent position, pay depends on how much I impress them and who wants me)

Honestly I have not had to handle personal finance before and am entirely unsure where to get started. My expenses are relatively few due to my work handling all my medical and not owning a car. Besides rent I have basic stuff, but beyond that I will have a lot of money sitting around.

Investment strategies? Strategies for saving? I really just don't know where to start.

Imagine yourself born poor with no options besides wage slavery. If you wouldn't risk it all to earn some safety capital/fuck you money you are never going to make it in the business world.

Just be an employee.

I'm not sure what your point is. I know some Kenyan's who have made it by risking it all.

The point is if you came from nothing you need to take a risk to get somewhere.

If you can't see yourself taking that risk you aren't cut out for the business world as a leader

Why not privatise roads?

>Road owners can charge transport vehicles with cargo of above a certain weight category
>Companies using the transport vehicles can choose which road to use
>Companies will maintain quality of roads, monitor them with CCTV to help catch rulebreakers and relay some data to the police searching for criminals, and solve traffic jams
>Also private superhighways for the rich
>With the internet here, managing subscriptions and informing people about what road choices they can use will become all too easy

Now, perhaps countries with good roads already like the USA and Germany may not need this, but this will sure help developing countries like India who have trouble with basic infrastructure. A fact every economist can agree on is that literally all government services began with a privatised version.

Either it's a privacy nightmare, or if you only charge trucks, the smaller roads would go unmaintained.

Can someone explain to me the pros and cons of using robinhood?

I know its free but do you have restrictions that you don't have using a real broker? Will my actions take longer to process or will i have to wait hours for my trade to actually go through?

Pro: It's free
Con: You don't get all the cool stuff the other guys have for a single mobile app.
>>
>>1259875
The biggest problem is using it to compete in a business where the serious players are using far more advanced tools. In addition, features of the market that maximize profit / minimize losses cost money, and RH can't pay for them with a free app, so you don't get them. The mistake many make is believing these features are inconsequential to trading successfully.
Great for gambling, but not a replacement for a brokerage, if you are an actual trader in securities.
>>
>>1259875
Read the reviews on the app. I wouldn't touch this shit with a ten foot pole.

nyone here ever quit a career-type job without anything else immediately lined up? Im considering it to spend time starting up a small business and finish renovating my house.

>be me
>graduate uni 5 years ago
>begin working with a small financial services company
>only me, my boss and another employee
>begin training under my boss for a professional license (license required to do the work we do)
>4 year process
>working 50 hours a week
>pay is % of billing revenues, no salary
>making good money
>boss is an asshole, always micro managing people, being passive aggressive, condescending
>boss is a master of constantly asking 'favors'
>2 years in, begin to hate the job and work environment
>2 more years to go for license
>power through 2 years of shit
>finally get license, tell boss im moving to part time because buying a house and renovating (save money not spending on contractors)
>need to reduce monthly billings to accommodate
>boss agrees at lower billing amount, things seem good
>months pass, boss constantly assigning more work to be at similar previous billing amount
>constant push back
>boss always 'busy', pissed whenever asking for assistance (we are both legally responsible for the work put out)
>share liability, boss does no work to contribute
>gets pissed when things dont go smoothly
>constant stress due to his personality and constant deadlines
>boss always has some new idea to share costs with other firms or use some new software suite
>new ideas never work, 1, 2, 3+ times
>other ppl in office lose motivation
>just coasting, keeping my head down
>boss asks me to do more petty shit not part of my employment contract
>'ill pay you to do this' extra stuff, 'no thanks' i say, no time
>boss gets pissed, were all part of a team here (when its something i have to do extra)
>my employment contract only for billable services, no admin shit
>tell boss ill do this extra stuff this one time

Any thoughts biz? When do you simply have to draw the line and take your dignity and leave? Ive already gotten the license which cant be taken away. Im also at a point where my pay per hour or job cant increase without managing others below me. Ready for a change. Anyone else quit there job to take some re-coop time?
>>
>>1259807

By the way, im single with no kids and a very reasonable mortgage amount.
>>
I wish I was in a position to quit a job. IT is a field with a ton of shit jobs that companies churn and burn people with. Every time a recruiter forwards me an "opportunity" there are more red flags than a Chinese military parade.

are there regulations that keep walmart etc from carrying toys that are more dangerous than nerf guns but less dangerous than bb gubs?
like this paintball pump shotgun i bought in a US store in 2007 and someone stole it. i tried to get another but they were nowhere to be found except england.. it pissed me right off, bc this thing was awesome... one pump and pull the trigger and itt shoots a small paintball about 150 mph,,, a little slower than a real paintball gun... it was fun to have it unloaded, pump it then shoot big pop of air right next to someones ear and have them shit themselves.. it never broke, it was fun to play with,,, worked just like a shotgun... and cost like 40 bucks... i guess kids were shooting ppl out of their parents car window or something and got the us gov to ban it...
the words "fuck you",,, is there ever a time big brother doesnt deserve to be on their recieving end...
thanks obama...
