The same way you don't get scammed when you buy domestic equities, do your fucking research. Your financial advisor will only tell you what they think you need to know about an investment. They won't tell you correlation coefficients, unsystematic risk levels, or covariance of international equities to domestic equities for example.

im pretty sure you are alotted a limited amount of URL / name changes. if thats true, then you could sell it to a small business who could benefit from a global audience or alternatively a musician. Another option would be to straight up advertise, but dont be surprised if you lose followers and in turn lose "clients"

Also, helpful guides in general for people getting started?

just use the coinbase wallet.

If you wanna mess around with other digital currencies transfer some of your bitcoin over to yobit or Kraken.

Do you need to download some special kind of wallet to store Trumpcoin? The website, http://trumpcoin.rocks/ , has a few wallets for downloading, but how do I know they're not some kind of virus? Is there any somewhat big and established software I could use instead?

If a bank gives you 3% yearly interest in a GIC, then how much money are they making? Is it 4% a year, and they give you 3%? Or does the bank make something ridiculous, like 3% monthly interest off your savings?

Will we ever know?

Also, I was looking at the Canada government website, and they said charity donations are only tax deductible up to 75%, in America what is the percentage, is it 90-100%?

>>
>>1321229

Sorry, I guess GIC is a Canadian savings account, where the money is locked into it for a year or more.
>>
>>1321229
no they usually have a fixed fee for handling and a fee if you break up your deposit.
i imagine something like a state bond will be behind that investment.
>>
>>1321229
>If a bank gives you 3% yearly interest in a GIC, then how much money are they making?
While banks do many things with your money, the traditional way they make money is my lending it to people and companies and charging them interest on the loans. Interest rates on loans vary wildly depending on the loan and the borrower.

The lowest interest rate you can ever expect to find on a loan is called the prime rate, which is currently around 3.5%. This is for an institutional loan with essentially ZERO risk, which is pretty rare. Most companies borrow at somewhere prime + 2 to prime + 6, so 5.5% to 9.5%.

Loans to individuals tend to be higher, with the exception of mortgages. Mortgages are generally near the prime rate because they are extremely low risk, statistically speaking. Personal loans(lines of credit, overdraft protection, etc.) are generally higher, going all the way up to credit cards, which can range from 12% to 18%.

Also, banks make fees on all loans, which add materially to their profit.

Ok so, I understand what bitcoin is, and have just created a wallet and I'll probably buy some soon, however, whenever a disscussion about cryptocurrency comes up on this board, ethereum and waves get mentioned. What are they? Are they similar to bitcoin>

What's involved in starting a business? Also why isn't there a /biz/ sticky website? I would love some resources on learning how to run a business.
5 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Sell a product or service that someone else is willing to pay you for first.

No sticky because the mods have given up on this board a long time ago.
>>
The process is very different depending on your country/state/province.

Step one is generally doing a bunch of paperwork to register your company, and often costs 50-80 bucks.

The question is: Do you have a product/servce ready to go right now (IE a service you can do right now, or product ready to sell on hand), or do you have a theoretical idea for a business?

If its the first, pay the small fees to register your business, then start doing it. Put up ads on craigslist/kijiji/etc selling your whatever, and get a good idea of how popular it is.

Once you have 1-2 months of data on how much money you can make off this, go check out prices for opening your own shop, how much rent is, how much it would cost to set it up, etc.

Go find other businesses in the same area, find ones that look like they had good quality interior work done. Ask to chat with the owner, and basically ask him "how much did it cost to get this work done? Do you have the contact info for the guys, I'd like to hire them" etc.

Make sure btw you are talking to a non-competitor. Like if you want to open an escape room or something, go look at something like dental offices. Same style of design but not competitors with you.

Once you are able to calculate how much your company would cost to get off the ground for 1-2 years and how much money it will generate over 1-2 years, if it works out to profit, you are good.

Look up how to write up a business plan, theres lots of guides on the internet, then arrange a meeting with your bank and present your business plan and get a loan.

You could have done this if you tried thirty years ago. The Banking Jew has gotten burned too often by people taking loans then bailing, so now the massive amounts of unsecured credit you used to be able to get very easily are less massive.

Now if you want to steal a lot of money it's easier:

1. Start Kickstarter
2. Solar Freaking Roadways

Hey /Biz/
Really want to short eth but this will be my first time ever doing this on poloniex margin trader so I have no experience or clue of what I am really doing and came here for some help.
I read that you're "borrowing" funds so is there a limit with how much I can borrow or does it depend with how much I transfer to my margin account? I currently have about 0.5BTC and can see Eth going from $15 to $5.
If this happens and I short now, what would my return be if I used up the 0.5BTC in my account to place the short at $15.
and when I place the short, do I do it for the price it is currently at?

any help would be awesome and yes I have read the poloniex margin trader information but came here to get more clarity out of it... maybe examples would help me out too.

cheers homies

/biz/, let's say I want to buy some shares in GOOG and leave it in there for at least 5 years. Is this a guaranteed way to make money? Google isn't going anywhere anytime soon and they pretty much own online advertising.

Am I missing something?

Yes, but the Web stats and searches?
Surely he producer captured some revenue from traffic or ads or whatever.
