>COLD CALLING

Any good guides or strategies/tips when cold calling?

I have started a small service based business and am in the unique position of being able to contact my potential clients directly (I also know that all of my potential clients REQUIRE these services) however, chances are that they already utilize the services of a competing business.

I will be offering an introductory discount and plan to offer a secondary discount in return for positive social media ratings and reviews after the first initial job.

My website is ready to go so I just now need to begin contacting my potential clients.

I have decided to start by cold calling with a follow up email. I will then creat some flyers followed by face to face meetings.

All advice appreciated, thanks.

Be a down to earth guy. If they feel like you're a telemarketer they won't even let you finish your sentence.
>>
>>1329867

The first few hundred calls are gonna suck.

A few tips:
- go straight to the point, "the reason Im calling is i sell x product"
- have respect for their time. "If this is a bad time could I contact you later"
- get an email address, "Could I send you an email about x and you can take a look when you have time?"

Any time you get a hostile response, just apologize and move on.

I want to register an llc to use for my online retail activities, but I can't think of a name. How do you come up with a name for a business?

The name doesn't matter, just pick a name that is relevant to your business.

marketing matters - that, and satisfying the googlebots

Evening /biz/.. first time poster.

I'm looking into tracking my finances in order to get a better grasp on where my money goes, where it should go, where I should be saving, and other odds/ends. I've got a simple excel sheet I keep updated twice a month with some of the finer details, but feel I could expand this into something more complex.

What else should I be tracking, or doing better to monitor current and future finances? There's other small expenses like food, utilities and internet I'll add down the line, they simply didn't fall on the high priority list when I developed it. Small side note, the car should be completely paid off by march-april next year.

In before paying too much/small savings/not making enough/shitty spreadsheet/etc, etc, etc.

Does it take larger companies longer to give you an interview when you send in your resume when they're interested, or to tell you that you that they aren't the person they're looking for?

I was scouted for a job and the recruiter said they liked my resume and it was sent to the HR manager, but it's been like 3 weeks since I've heard from them.

Please just call me back... save me...

Bump?
>>
>>1329742
The larger the company = the more people who want to start a career with them = the more applications = longer.

Also for those reasons bigger companies are notorious for NEVER getting back to anyone who applied other than those who move along in the hiring process.
>>
The recruiter emailed them and they weren't interested.

You won't hear back from them or the recruiter.

Based on my experience in 10 years of engineering.

Having said that I could be wrong. You never know.

I guess it also depends on the market/industry. And how good your profile is. What I found is if you have a lot of prospects from recruiters even if it's not what you're looking for there is a chance a big one will pop up now and then and they're the ones you chase.

So I filed a trademark and got it approved. Bought the domain for $3000.00 and now will do a Madrid Process for the top nations in this world. My question is, what really is a trademark and how much does it weigh? Let's say my class is Toys. Do I technically own this name mark for toys?

If you can forge an iron will, yes. But given that you've wasted the past 30 years, you'd need some compelling external force to kick your shit in and make your character change.

I made about $2,000 a month working ~40 hours a month writing. I can bump this up to $2,500-$3,000 with some effort.

What would be a good place to move to and take advantage of global arbitrage? Someplace where my dollars would go a lot further, but not a complete shithole

What do you write and how do you get the jobs?

Also, I highly recommend the suburbs of Kansas City (Missouri side). My brother moved there for exactly this reason. The bad parts are segregated, and the nice parts are all new, but it's the midwest, so prices are pretty low.

Anyone else making plans to make a quick buck on the market with the Brexit vote?

They are expecting the market to move hard in one way or the other, depending on how the vote goes.

Bonus points to anyone from the UK who can give some on-the-street feel for how it will go.

Expect 200 points up on the dow on friday with a stay vote and 400 points down with a leave vote.

With 50/50 odds it isn't worth staying in the market. I sold 2/3 of my positions yesterday.

Thursday should be light volume and negative for the day. Friday gonna be crazy!

I agree. But I also think that after the first reaction, it will calm down a bit and will give back a little of the gain/loss.

I'm thinking of buying both puts and calls on $DIA tomorrow.

The exact same thing happened to ETH on the lead up to Homestead release.
