What are the most common white-hat methods of advertising a new website? Been out of the game for the past 6 years.
>>
>>1328638

Social Marketing. Start a page on facebook, find awesome pictures and use them for featured articles on your we page, use catchy titles for your content and repost to your facebook page. You can increase your fb page popularity via link collider or typical social engagement for posting interesting content that people will share that may or may not be connected to your webpage.

Having a few decent backlinks and making sure your website is submitted to google/bing/yahoo will go a long ways aswell.

really depends on the website and type of content you are trying to promote.

is link-building still relevant? Seems like a fastidious process. Is it possible to rank up this google places thing an how? Is it worth the hassle to rank for minor research engines?

Yeah, but why?

I read all over the place how awful brexit would be for the rest of the EU because of how the jobs will go up in smoke.

well, for starters britain shouldn't give a shit, it's high time the countrys cared about their own first, then there's the retarded amount of rapefugees they will be forced to take if they don't leave, specially if turkey enters the EU, which chances are very high of happening.

I won't lie, there will be a small recession following a possible Brexit. but Britain should come off stronger, being able to negotiate it's own economic contracts and actually having an elected parlament making laws BY the british and FOR the british, instead of a small unelected elite making "universal" laws with complete disregard for a nation culture and history.

I'm not an EU citizen, but i remember seeing somewhere that they have maximum quotas for every member country in certain sectors, and for example the fishing industry of britain is being fucked over being underproductive because of this maximum production quota as to allow smaller states to compete. Again, i'm not clear on this one, so someone else may give us some insight.

But the greatest thing will really be not having 3 million analphabet uneducated workers move into your country for cheap labor and then chimpout in 10 years when they are substituted for machines, if they even work, that is. Not turning into a caliphate would be nice too

I will (and have) happily drive trash cars my whole life. Spending even $20k on a new car has to be one of the worst financial decisions you can make.

There's a girl on FB who I've watched post updates on her car loan for a while.

but there's a reason why shorting treasuries is a losing trade unless you are using the proceeds to fund something else.
>>
how about by buying call options in the dow jones index etf DIA? the money that comes out of the bond market has to flow somewhere. why not to the american stock market? s&p 500 is too risky, and europe might collapse. so i, anon, am saying buy call options on DIA!
>>
would the bubble burst affect currency prices or faith in the american economy? maybe you could short an index like some rich guys did with the s&p in the 2008 crash. >>1327595

So a common theme I've observed in advice and literature pertaining to the creation and preservation of wealth is that if you want to be wealthy you need to own assets.

Aside from the obvious stocks, bonds, and real estate, what are some assets worth owning. In my own research some interesting options I've come across have been: self-storage facilities, tutoring centers, and automated car washes.

What assets does /biz/ own/ would like to own?

Here's the easiest one. Buy real estate, charge enough rent to cover mortgage and earn a living. You'll probably need 4-5 buildings ie houses. So enough to cover mortgage bills and earn income and you're all set.

Why do so many people open new restaurants, /biz/?

It seems like a very bad decision, objectively. The vast majority of new restaurants fail, and the vast majority of those which do not actually go bankrupt or otherwise end up closing seem to just scrape by without generating any significant return for their owners.

There are so many restaurants in any even mid-sized city that competition is inevitably cut-throat; and all of the profits are competed away. People think of cut-throat competition as this incredibly capitalistic thing, but it isn't capitalistic at all in the sense that it makes it extremely challenging - bordering on impossible - to actually generate capital.

You end up with a situation in which people are working very hard to just to keep their restaurants solvent, just to keep paying the rent and making payroll, but almost nobody is actually making a profit. Even if you're very good, it's virtually impossible to make money in the restaurant business. For a new entrant, the chance of real success (i.e. genuine and significant long-term profitability) is close to zero.

Given that there are many industries that one can enter with considerably less initial capital, which are considerably less stressful, in which the chances of success are considerably greater and where, if you work very hard and you make offer a compelling product or service you can make many orders of magnitude more money than you could ever hope to make in the restaurant business, why do so many people fall for the 'I'll open the 738th Italian restaurant in London and it'll be a great success!' meme?

>>
Barriers to entry are low
>>
It feels like the natural choice for the vast numbers of people who can cook a few specialised dishes.

Ordinary people, especially women, daydream about it all the time, because it's a business everyone can understand and appreciate, and which is easy to pretend would be pleasant and rewarding.
>>
>>1327270
And lots of people think of it is a defensive market because
>muh people wil always eat food
Not realising that restaurant is one of the first expense cut from a financially struggling household
