Is the big 4 worth it as a career? As a white man can I hope to rise up on the ranks?

Stop trying to catch the last wave, do something original
Do you really think either of these jobs will make you rich? The more important question is: do you actually care about either of these fields?
Every graduate applies for these jobs without thinking. They're just told it's a good career and never bother to question whether this is true or not. The result is a huge supply of graduate employees, which pushes the price down (more specifically, it pushes the hours worked UP whilst salaries remain static)
Accountancy/consulting was a decent career to go into to make money 20 years ago
Again, you're trying to catch the last wave. You'll find yourself competing like crazy for ever diminishing rewards.
Do you think accountancy is going to grow as an industry over the next few decades? It was a good career choice 20 years ago but that ship has sailed.
Pick an industry that is growing, that you find interesting, and that is less competitive - more 'outside the box'. You 'll be richer and happier.

I graduated from university a little over 3 years ago. I know of at least 10 people who've gone to work at these companies. But I don't know a single person from uni who's started their own business (except me).
Why is this? Is it because big 4 pays more? Is it easier to get ahead in these firms compared to starting your own?
No - it's the exact opposite. Big 4 is insanely competitive but the rewards aren't there because there are so many competitors. It's one massive tournament with no winners (except the partners who got in early - before this insane supply of students).
Seriously, if you're in any way intelligent or have any original thoughts, do something else.
Big 4 is a good example of Sayer's law (Google it)
>>1896330
I have heard mixed reactions from some friends about it. I know you can accomplish something in this field without these companies. In fact I may be better off but I certainly don't think that Accounting is going anywhere

There are dozens of better alternatives for smart contract blockchains
Alright /biz/, I found the next goldmine.
It's a low-volume coin currently, with a consistent uptrend. It's up about 25% for the month, with plenty of room to move up.
It's currently priced at 42k sat, with the only big sell wall at 100k.
It's already on Poloniex with known developers. People are looking for a Bitcoin alternative, but it seems like most coins are in a bubble except for a few, and this is one of them.
"I/O Digital is open source blockchain ecosystem project actively developed by a team of blockchain security and cryptocurrency experts.
I/O Digital started in July 2014. We started as I/O Coin Digital currency (IOC) without any Initial Coin Offer (ICO) or Premine. The coins were mined during an initial X11 Proof of Work (PoW) mining period before switching over to our own unique flavor of Proof of Stake (PoS) POS I/O to secure our blockchain."
DIONS will revolutionize cryptocurrency.

Looks pretty interesting. I sold my PIVX, so I might have to throw some at this. I'm going to read up more.
This board operates like a small scale version of the real world - theres a couple smart jews, majority of /biz/ is getting fucked by jews (some win a little, others lose money), then there also a small percentage of /biz/ helping people understand crypto underlying tech instead of emotional plays
Theres an obvious moral divide here. Where do you stand morally? I wont name specific coins, you can figure that out yourselves. But look at the different ways coins are advertised here:
how to get jew'd:
>missed the previous pump? this coin is the next one!! dont worry about the tech just buy buy buy!!
>blast off imminent, better buy now!
>lol are you still holding that yesterdays coin? loser!
how to actually win:
>try your best to understand blockchain tech first
>look at the coin youre interested in buying - do you understand what that coins utility is? what is the coin trying to achieve?
>if you dont understand, ask anons here what the tech is - you will get responses from helpful anons, ignore emotional posters
sure, pump and dumps are fun and instant, but its not smart and morally wrong. buy coins that you see a future in - can that coin change the way the world works?
dont eat your own kind here anons, its sad to see some of you turn into jews
>>1895091
friends?
Thanks for the post anon. New here. Bought 30 ETH @ $18. After browsing here a bit I bought some PIVX and i'm down on that. I just bought some ARK. I will be sure to remember your tips in the future.
Let me rewrite that for you:
how to get jew'd:
>invest into the stock market and slow growing overused cryptos
>pump & dumps are scams, you can't get rich quick you loser
>keep holding those bitbays goy, I need to let go of my... I mean... it will surely still rise some day!
how to actually win:
>try your best to understand whales and the correlations between volume, supply, and hype
>are you almost sure the coin is going to pump? that's good enough, get on it!
>if you're not sure about the pump, check how many threads there are about that coins, the more the merrier
I'm still getting paid for my internship even though I finished 2 or 3 months ago.
Will I get in trouble if I dont tell them? I dont mind getting 140$ each month extra doing nothing.
>>1894545
hell yeah you'll get in trouble
maybe if we were talking "leave the country" money, but that's fucking peanuts m8
>>1894545
Just don't touch it for a year or so. If they never come back for it means someone in HR screwed up and they can't correct it now because if it comes out they'll get sacked. If they come back for it in around a year, then yeah you better have it at hand to pay back.
Wagecuck who works in HR here.
No you won't get in trouble in a legal sense. You'll likely be blacklisted from the company and never be able to get a reference when they realize you just kept taking the money.
Once they catch it, which they will, they may ask for it back. There is no way for them to make you unless they send you to collections. Such peanut money they likely won't as it's their payroll error.
The point of an internship though is making connections and gaining references. If you don't care then realize you are probably fucking yourself out of a potentially higher paying job that a good reference from this internship would help you get.
TLDR; it will probabaly cost you more in the long run than what you're pocketing now.

MiloCoin is listed on some early exchanges and lazy pajeets are sending their mined coins to the exchange for cheap until they realize their mistake - prices will never be lower than today - refined investors enter the market here.
Gavin has already responded positively to MiloCoin, Milo's response is practically a given, how many coins will you have when the price skyrockets because of this?

Am I the only one who feels bad for idiots fell for the student loan meme?
I have a few coworkers who are each at least 70k in the hole, and all they have to say is "I don't know what I was thinking."
I assume most of us here have decent finance sense. Do you ever feel for those who are doomed to be in debt until the day they die, and see no fault in it? I understand they're mostly mimicking their parents. I just don't get it. I was lucky and born the son of an accountant. I can't figure it out.
Just a thought.
STOP BEING POOR
Legit though, 70k ain't shit. Just buy a house that's 70k cheaper than you would have. You can tell where people are by how they think about different amounts of money.
>>1889106
None of us knew what we were thinking. I mean, since first grade we're told to go to college while hints are being dropped right and left implying we're nothing if we don't get into a four year university.
>implying a 16 year old has any financial literacy in the American education system
I avoided most of the college debt (small loan though), but I'm not surprised at all given the above attitude.
>>1889229
i think the issue is that getting a loan and graduating in debt is almost like a norm. I was lucky enough to have parents that cared enough to do prepaid.
why is universal income a bad idea? are first world countries not developed enough to start setting the ground work for this to happen?
