Would it be possible to create a security based on anticipated meme popularity? Like if there was an online exchange site where new or old memes could be submitted, given an arbitrary amount of stock initially funded by the user with bitcoin and then traded based on the anticipated popularity of the meme.

The biggest problem would be getting people on board since the security would only be valuable if there was a continuous demand for it. But people wanted Dogecoin because it was a meme, demand for it was in large part due to it's current popularity as a meme.

What do you think? Is there any reason this would not be possible biz?

>We're all basically fucked right?
Naw, its all good, and probably beneficial. The crypto markets are like a fenced playground for financial autists. It's a tiny market, closed, insular, and no one either makes a lot or loses a lot because no one who plays has any real capital to begin with.

It's basically a containment market, sort of like this board is a containment board to keep the crypto-autists off the real boards.
>>
Bitbean has a "market cap" (kek) of $432k with a volume of only $41k.

These people are nothing.

stay poor.

>be in shitty data analyst role in meme tech startup
>get sick of the politics, shit pay etc., quit job and decide to move to Asia
>want to break into banking/VC
>everything I'm reading says you basically need to be Chinese to break into Investment Banking in HK and Singappore (I have decent Mandarin but not business-level, and not chinese)
>could become a trader but probably not quantitative enough
>just want a good front-office job where I can get paid, wear a nice suit and not feel like a cuck every day

What do?

Any IB/VC/PE people here?

Need some advice before I go over, waste all my money and have to come back home

>have to be Chinese and speak mandarin
Hong Kong yes, Singapore no. Singapore is culturally heterogeneous, Chinese are just 70%. English is the lingua franca which everyone speaks.

>need to be Chinese
That's just people trying to sound smart on the Internet. In fact the CEO of HSBC, one of the major Singapore banks, is Caucasian. If you want to work as your quant it depends on your qualifications and skillsets.

/biz/ If I invest all of my salary into an untaxed 401k and quit my job at the end of the fiscal year.

Will I be able to withdraw all of the money at just a 10% rate instead of 28% I'd be paying normally or will additional expenses occur on top of that 10%?
6 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1968015

It is still considered income when it's withdrawn and therefore you would be required to pay any applicable taxes based the bracket you fall into. In addition, because you have not yet reached retirement age, you will pay a 10% penalty on top of the taxes.

Also; The maximum 401k contribution amount for you is likely about 18,000.

Also also; couldn't you have just done a google search?

I did but thought only current earned income would determine tax bracket.

thank you
>>
>>1968015
Gotta pay the taxes and the 10%.

But if you only took out a small amount each year, then your income would be smaller I guess so you wouldn't be paying 28% on it, only whatever your tax bracket ends up being for that year.

- VISIT THE WEBSITE FIRST DAMMIT!! - www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
"People" invest your settled funds when you're not using them, just like banks.

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, why?
Robinhood graphs are shit and only show you an average, not true real-time prices. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
Real brokers, like TDAmeritrade's thinkorswim. Otherwise you should be using tradingview.com, stockcharts.com, finviz.com, or a non-pile-of-shit for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

Is betting on marine le pen a good idea for an 'investment'? It seems like a hugely +EV decision to me. Current potential payout is 4.5x bet. That means that the chance of her winning needs to be above 22.2% for it to be profitable. And realistically her chance is way above 22%. So why isnt everyone massively betting on her yet? Is there something i am missing?

I was actually going to ask this too.

Currently at $100 on her.

>>1967782
No. She's 4:1 right now. Meaning, if you bet $1, you could get back $4 total. If it's less than 4:1 then your betting site is shit.

Bought ltc for teh short term gains then when it hit 0.01 thought it would actually be a good long term hold. Are the Coinbase rumors true? All the buzz about it disappeared.

Not a particularly expensive lesson but I'm annoyed at having my basis be so high since I already held ltc.

You autists think of coinbase too highly

LTC is already on literally every other exchange, sure, coinbase is the EASIEST place to buy cryptos, but it has limits on sells and buys, and dumb high fees, no big players use it at all

i doubt it even will spike a dollar because of the coinbase adaption, it's only segwit that might do it, and that's never going to happen, the gooks will never allow it
