First of all the fact that you're willing to analyze your shortcomings and work to change then on your own is awesome. Be proud of that and don't ever stop doing it. Second, o find that the best motivation to improve socially is to find a group of people you enjoy being around. I'd recommend trying out a few clubs on campus that intrest you for that. I'd also recommend working on the way you perceive yourself. None of us had a perfect upbringing and a lot of people are probably struggling with the same issues you are now so you're hardly a loser at all. When you find yourself thinking negatively about yourself like that consider that you may have an unrealistic expectation of how much time and effort it will take to attain what you view as success.

About 10 years.

I've been with a lot of women in that time, told myself I loved them, told them I loved them. When it came down to it though, I either got bored or wasn't even upset when we ended it.

Now, though, I'm crazy for a girl I can only see once a month for a weekend for the course of the next year. Only way I could be happier is to get her every day. Soon enough.

The first relationship I ever really felt was actually meaningful ended 5 years ago. In that 5 years, I've only met 2 people I've felt like I had any degree of chemistry with. Both of those people did not feel the same. Never even got the chance to possibly grow into something meaningful.

You'll learn to live with the emptyness. Remember that love isn't a real thing. It's just a fantasy we tell ourselves to justify having sex. In the end, sex is really the only thing that drives us. Biologically speaking, this makes sense. We're only good for reproducing. Romance, love, marriage, all social constructs that really mean nothing in the end.

It might seem like a stupid question , but did you ask her if you'd done anything wrong? If you have and she hasn't given you a proper answer, maybe it's just best to get over her. It's hard, and it'll hurt if you guys were close, but you'll keep hurting yourself if you keep mourning over losing her friendship, and the pain might be one-sided. I know it doesn't seem easy but sometimes people aren't what you thought they were, and learning to accept that and move on will make things better for you.
