That sounds similar to when I was told at school to copy stuff off the blackboard. Some people I talked to are surprised it didn't teach me any spelling at all. I sometimes see results with autocomplete from web searches and my phone's keyboard but I have to get the first few letters correct. The worst advice I was ever given on the matter is "just sound it out." it doesn't get me the same results as other people. I think there's something about the English language they never taught me.

My spelling is somewhere at second or third grade level by the way. (without any computer assistance)

This is supposed to be advice. 3 and a half years but I was a year and half in the Marines. I went to military prison, it was stressful but mostly because I couldn't control my actions for 3 and a half years.
