The fact that so many books still name Neon Genesis Evangelion as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" anime ever only tells you how far anime still is from becoming a serious art. Live action film critics have long recognized that the greatest directors of all times are Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Western cartoon critics rank the highly controversial United Productions of America over studios that were more popular during their time, such as Walt Disney and Warner Bros. Anime critics are still blinded by false intellectual themes. Eva was the first anime for adults (not true, by the way), therefore it must have been the greatest. Live action critics grow up watching to a lot of live action films of the past, Western animation critics grow up watching to a lot of classical music of the past. Anime critics are often totally ignorant of anime before Eva, they barely know anything except Gundam. No wonder they think Anno did anything worthy of being saved.
what is brewing in the head of Imaishi "The mad man" right now....
haha true love wins again get bent hetfags
will be c.c pregnant in code geass sequel?
If animation is a medium better catered to surreal visuals and experimentation, explain why there isn't a single anime this decade as avant-garde as the latest episode of Twin Peaks.
What does this usually mean /a/?
Does anyone else here Himouto Umaru-Chan?
What was the last good show of your favorite studio?
...but generally when there is a hiatus it is due to physical illnesses. But what about stress? I know that Hideaki Anno had depression and the author of Nana had problems to deal with fame.
>the author of Nana had problems to deal with fame.
The author of Nana had some serious disease that required long-term hospitalization.
> Mental illness is super taboo in nipland
Anon, "I'm tired and want a break" is not going to fall under that taboo.
This is the kind of stress that creates villains with dragon dick.
Why ships become best girls?
Yes, recommendation thread.
Largely ignored movies for long time having not watched any moden movies aside from Disappearance, Redline, Paprica and Detective Conan movies. Most movies based on TV anime are irredimable shit, so pretty much stopped watching after end of OAV era.
However recently watched Your Name and Silent Voice and loved both so feeling like watching some more recent (2014+?) anime movies.
However is there actually anything worth watching at all?
Looking forward for Shafts "Fireworks" and thats about it. Is Kizumonogatari worth time spent? Anything else interesting and well made in recent years? As said - 99% of movies based on TV anime are crap - so no "SAO, Planetarian etc" stuff. Exception would likely be KyoAni movies, but most of them 2018.
Your opinions of:
Suki ni Naru Sono Shunkan wo?
Zutto Mae kara Suki deshita?
Anthem of the Heart? (Okadas "Silent Voice for poor"?)
The Case of Hana and Alice?
Anything else worth mentioning?
Who was in the right here?
