Virtually nothing will change. Competitive players are going to pick up where they left off in XY/ORAS (although most of them are on showderp now anyway), casuals are going to consider the $5 wasted unless their favorite mons didn't get into SM, and everyone in-between is just going to do whatever they planned on doing anyway.

Wonder Trade will probably have a bunch more weird shit in it for a week or two, then we'll go back to Donald Trump jokes and Abras.

I think VC transfers will have neat things like that to make up for the random stats. I don't think anyone is going to expect transfers from a gen 1 game to be competitive.
