Gen I had ridiculous legs, the kind that videogame companies suck satan's schlong for. It single handedly kept the Gameboy going for years when it was on the way out when Red/Green were released.

This. I'm playing though ORAS right now and it honestly felt more like an adventure once I got to Slateport. I guess it's because the player is more independent in ORAS as Brendan and Wally pretty much just fuck off, while Lillie and Haul are constantly dick riding the player. And it also feels like there is very little to explore in Alola. You'll want to go somewheres and some asshole on a Stoutland will tell you no, and even when you do go to one of these optional routes they tend to be just small bays with a few tiny islands in them.
