I'm an American who recently started attending university in the UK.

How does anyone collect ANYTHING over here? The prices are all jacked up, and the only viable way to get imports is to have to pay a premium VAT and import tax on top of shipping.

I have no intention of moving my stuff over here, nor do I intend to actively buy things here (I have some preorders that I won't be able to see until I go home for the holidays). I'm just legitimately curious as to what people do here.
