I always wondered...
why doesn't /toy/ make their own toyline?
>>4324085
The same reasons that /tg/ never makes a coherent ruleset, /co/ never makes a full comic, and /v/ never makes vidya gaems
because /toy/ can't write good lore
That requires a lot of money, skills, education, and communication.
Definitely something an Anonymous image board cannot do.
Time for a new 3A General. Ready your wallet, because we just got advance notice for SIX (!!!) sale dates:

MARS next month - two feet of big red robot. How much do you think he'll cost? I'm expecting at least $350.
>tafw being a poorfag, 3A toy I want is on mandy for a great price
>I save up its been on mandy for 2 months finally have the money
>i go to make my purchase and its sold out!
Fuuuu. It hasnt popped up in a while on mandy or KR. While the only one on ebay is x2 the price. Life is suffering
So, what sets off your nostalgia boner, /toy/?
What's that one thing that sets you into a downward spiral of spending because it brings back fond memories from your youth?
Pic fucking related.
>friend gives me that cheap Dino Megazord because he has the vintage one
>it starts getting wobbly and loose
>get super accustomed to seeing it
>try to re-watch the show
>realize it's hilariously bad
>see legacy Dragonzord
>find a Legacy Megazord to replace wobbles mcgoo
>fuck it, might as well get the main team
>wait until the entire team is available
>drop $300 on 6 figs and a Zord
>now being tempted by White Ranger because of the Tigerzord
>probably gonna get suckered into buying the Thunderzord to go with it
>fucking $180 Titanus
>I don't even like Titanus...
Nostalgia a shit.
I'm so happy that between the 90's nostalgia boom here and in Japan, us 90z kidz finally have a bunch of awesome toys of the stuff we loved as kids, or a second chance at them in some cases.
My main childhood love was Beast Wars, second being Power Rangers and Pokemon. And a bunch of Toonami aired anime and cartoons,TMNT, BTAS, and Throwbots. I do wish we got more than just 4 or 5 Beast Wars figures every few years, I'm not much of a fan of vehicle Transformers.
Stuff I'd like to see get a new line: Street Sharks and, especially, Extreme Dinosaurs. I'd put up with Matty Collector's bullshit for somewhat articulated versions of all those guys.
Also, how's the quality of Jazware's Space ghost? That feels like a stupid question, but I really loved C2C and cartoon Planet growing up, and love a proper figure of Tad.
>>4326839
Aww, shit, son! Throwbots/Slizers were the shit! I mean, seriously, who the hell needs a carrying case with a belt loop to carry a toy around?
I have no idea about Jazwares' stuff. I haven't heard amazing things about them overall, though.
>>4326793
I had theses old Gundam toys from when I was a kid, and everytime I see one, I pop 10-20$ a piece on each figure. Not models, but they are pretty cool. I think they're called MSIA.
I'm about to customize this bitch. Any last words before I stick her under the knife? (Literally.)
Also Customs thread I guess because I didn't see one and I can't think of another relevant topic.
>>4310876
Who's she gonna end up as?
>>4310988
A certain video game character I have a boner for. It's a surprise for now. I'll post progress pics as I go. Since this is a slow board I'm not worried about this disappearing while the paint dries and things like that.
>>4311001
yet you're making a nendo not a cast-off doll or figure.
Umm is Yume Nikki?
What is the most obscure 80's or 90's toyline you can think of?
>>4309959
There are a bunch of them. One of my favorite obscure lines that I never got as a kid (and I guess it was good I didn't) was Manglors.
Their gimmick was that you could pull and stretch them, and even rip off their limbs and then put them back together good as new. It didnt work very well.
http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/manglor-mountain/
>>4310061
I definitely remember Manglors. I only had one and, like you said, the reattaching limbs situation was awful.
>>4309959
The Other World, by Arco. I had a bunch of these as a kid and never knew anything about them.
What are your rarest / most expensive toys, /toy/?
>>4324958
I guess my 1/6 JEA Bertie pic is of one (not specifically mine) I had only been able to find one online for around 1k but randomly one appeared on ebay for a bit less that I got right away. Either him or my 1/6 JEA Harold, he was pretty pricy too, those got hard to find almost instantly after they came out it seemed everyone got attached to theirs and didn't want to sell.
>>4324958
>1k
Whoa, wait, nigga wat? Like, one thousand US dollars? 1/6 Bertie Mk.3s typically go for around $300 on the aftermarket, are you aware of that? Did JEA get ultra-rare while I wasn't looking, or did you just get fucking scalped to shit?
>>4324958
>rarest
Hmm, probably any of the few customs I own? Seeing as there's only one of them in existence and all.
>most expensive
Hot Toys Classic Pred probably.
Last general is on autosage
There will be another production run, r-r-right? ;_;

Just got this guy yesterday, haven't even adjusted the bags. Passed on it when it was released but couldn't resist it at $100 shipped.
The Hell? This thread went from a bunch of posts to two in a matter of minutes. Anyway, any word on the 2000 AD stuff? That Judge Death teaser has my head about ready to 'splode.

>>4279100
They're $50.
Don't expect any of the action poorfags here to collect superior toys like 3A and Be@rbrick.
Does anyone know of any non-cartoony style city displays / dioramas / whatever?
I find it hard to believe that no one has produced a generic cityscape / battlefield yet.
Someone do a kickstarter for a modular cityscape with effect parts and ill give you all my monies.
theres a facebook group called "diostructure" or something along those lines - it's a bunch of guys who make custom cityscapes and whatnot.
>>4265673
I had the 90s Spider-Man playset. It was good for its time.
>>4265673

Why don't you do it?

I don't follow. elaborate please?
TFcon is happening so we'll probably get many new reveals over the weekend going by the influx of new shit last year. Hopefully we can keep it confined to one thread. In recent news, the Predaking War has nothing on the Dinobot war. As of yesterday we know of about 8 different companies making their own versions of the Dinobots. Pic related is fansproject, who continue their trend of including little robot weapons/riders in their new lines.
Whoops wrong photo. This one isn't shrunk.
Also more function X figures. I think it's Hardhead, Apeface, Highbrow.
>>4280754
>8 different companies
which ones? teasers available?
