Hey /tg/ You guys always inpire me onward.
But I need some help. I like fantasy. Gentlemen I LIKE fantasy. But I dont like d20s. Ive played D&D for a long time. Ive run every edition of D&D since 2nd. But its time for me to move into a different system.
Once long ago I made a dreadful mistake. I tried GURPS. Forgive my hubris. I was enticed by the promise in depth of melee combat.
So I come to you /tg/. Do you have any recommendations for a system that has depth in melee combat, is fantasy, and might not use a d20?
To appease the gods I will dump out some /tg/ related pictures I've saved.

like SW:A but with actual character.

This sounds like a bad idea.
>>54865051
genuinely curious why you think so?
I'm looking forward to playing it... although I probably won't use GW models
Is everyone ready for the game to include the exact same rules irregularities and ambiguities that both previous releases of necromunda and SW:A which have at this point been FAQed 3 times to be published and FAQed again in this version of the game?
Do you guys prefer to use a mat, the theatre of the mind, or something like this board for your games?
Depends on the system.
Generally though, I play systems which use abstract, zone based movement. Enough detail to allow for more depth to combats and meaningful choices and value in mobility, while abstracting most of the nitty gritty stuff.
I do enjoy tactical combat in games though, even if there's only one system I've played where the tactical combat was truly great.
Theater of the mind. I don't put too much stock into combat. I like having my players doing the mapping based on my descriptions as well.

What system?
alright /tg/

If you wanted a character art thread why didn't you say so?
How do you make a board game, where the gameplay feels like this?
I get gaming console, get the game, play it for a while to have some idea what you might be meaning with "like this" and then get back to you. Or not.
Depends what aspects you want to focus on and what type of game you're thinking about.
I'm not super familiar with the subject matter, but the basic idea is fighting giant monsters, taking their stuff, using that stuff to upgrade your gear and then killing even bigger monsters, right?
>>54863654
Imagine a video game where how much HP you have is *never* as important as your ability to actually avoid getting hit. A game where 90% of survival comes down to evasion. Every pen-and-paper game I've seen uses hitpoints, and makes the assumption that players will "spend" most of their hitpoints before a fight is over. I'm trying to find something where *actually getting hit* three or four times is considered suboptimal.

So what bad luck will befall the Primaris Marines in the Lamenters?
Wouldnt they just be remade as an entirely primaris chapter, considering how few there are left? In either case, the new ones wouldnt have anything bad happen since they werent part of the cursed founding. At worst i guess they would have the red thirst and black rage.
>>54862837
Lamenters are MIA and very get any.
>>54862932
I don't know their bad luck could be pretty deep it would be just their luck for Cawl to miss that small imperfection in their geneseed.
Everyone here agrees that bows are better than spears, right?

What is the edgiest thing you have done?
Would the scroll of seals have Edo Tensei in it?
>>54861202
The imperfect version Tobirama had I believe so.
Caldor Draigo waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were demons in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Cernel Joson were not listenend to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
Caldor was a Space Marine for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and he said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY DEMONS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the space station base of the inquisition he knew there were demons.
"This is Joson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the demons!"
So Caldor gotted his plasma rifle and blew up the wall.
"HE IS GOING TO KILL US" said the demons
"I will shoot at him" said the cyberdemon and he fired the rocket missiles. John plasmaed at him and tried to blew him up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the demons" he shouted
The radio said "No, Caldor. You are the demons"
And then Caldor was a zombie.
Do....do you have autism?

Aside from Forgotten Realms, what D&D settings from previous eras have you played in? How have you adapted them to 5e?
>>54861046
RAVENLOFT
And also just real earth
I am going to start running SKT soon, you anons have any advice for me?
>>54861046
Ravenloft, didn't work so well mostly because only one other person in the group really cared for it.
Mystara, worked pretty well just through taking the lore and reskinning a few things.Brought a bit of Spelljammer in but did it through FR so don't know if that counts.
