Can someone explain to me the logic of the rank and file followers of Chaos?
Why choose to follow the Dark Gods? Are they happier doing so?
How is their quality of life being part of a society that loves pain and suffering? Where do they sleep at night? What sort of food do they eat?
>>54983379
>why choose to follow the dark gods, happiness?
Life is shitty, somebody tells you that you have a chance of something better.
You hope they tell the truth so you serve chaos.
>quality of life?
Depends on the individual 'cult' or 'warband'. Some might live on the floor in a hazardous industrial zone, feeding on rats and shit.
Others might have secured a luxurious home with quality sustenance.
They might care for each other (and help each other out), or they might hate each other.
I think the key is that people see it as the only alternative to life as a loyal servant of the Emperor. The Imperium would create a lot of people who hate the Imperium and don't give a fuck anymore.
I mean, what kind of person would do heroin or take pain pills on purpose? Its a kind of suicide, you do it when you don't give a fuck. That's why cults go after the addicts, the rejects, the mentally ill, people who don't have a lot to live for. People are malleable when they don't give a fuck.

>Why choose to follow the Dark Gods?
Imperium is pretty much a socialistic shithole where if you weren't born a noble or potential spehhs muhreen, you'll probably die in shithole. Of course you can work for the good of the whole Imperium, but that won't affect you personally at all. I think chaos is more individualistic which allows talented/smart people to release their potential while Imperium does not.

How do you feel about "lovecraftian" monsters and themes in an OSR context?
>>54983275
Oh god I shat up the links
>>54983282
Oh you.
How would you classify the spell indexes in ACKs and its Player Companion book? I'm trying to group them together in seperate schools of magic. Like spells good for espionage, or utility and communication, or battle magic stuff, etc.
What's the closest you can get to a mech in a purely fantasy setting?
By purely fantasy setting I mean you don't just "the world is actually post-apocalyptic and the civilizations before had mechs which we now use as relics"
Without having a sci-fi foundation to start on, how close can you get to mechs?
>>54982815
A golem that you can sit inside and pilot through magical means.
>>54982815
Dragonmech was a d20 open that had that. Escaflowne and Dunbine was an anime that had that.
I like chris perrin's mecha, its easy to make fantasy mechs in, haven't though.

I am trying to come up with dungeon puzzles that specifically will confound players who have the hard-line mindset that the Player/GM relationship is, or should be, an adversarial one, but at the same time stupidly easy for everyone else.
Any Ideas /tg/?
They have to trust several NPCs in an important task no one of them can do
honestly the only puzzle I can think of myself is to have a deck of cards on a pedestal in the center of the room, there is an inscription that would read "Only when the royal family is in attendance will the way be open"it's just an ordinary deck of cards and the puzzle is to dig a royal flush out of said deck and present it, but I figure some "savvy" player might assume it's a deck of many things and get skittish about touching the deck.
>>54982248
That's a good start. However, I think we'd be better off starting by first defining what exactly this perceived "adversarial relationship" between player and GM is. Adversarial in what way, trying to outdo eachother? What causes it in the first place?
Would you play the men of iron if they where a faction?
How do you think 40k would change if they showed up?
>>54982137
Wouldn't they basically just be weaker Necrons?
>>54982157
I could see them taking a different track for them with being touch machines. Having them all be multi-wound models. 3 wounds with a 3+ or 4+. Not fancy living metal that allows them to regenerate but they've got a lot of metal to carve through before you hit anything important.
>>54982137
Presumably it would imply Dark ages technology & return of C'tan.
Wait, so it's literally like Hit Points and SDC in Palladium's games? Is this what modern game design is supposed to look like?
>>54982115
>Paizo
>original game design
Choose one.
>>54982165
It's not even "not original", it's really old at that. I hope they have a mechanic for point-blank shots and the like to go straight to HPs (that's what we ended up introducing in Palladium) because otherwise it gets really unrealistic fast.
I was thinking the vitality/wounds setup that Spycraft and the D20 Star Wars games used. Still Paizo copying other, better designers though.
Who here misses when Special Summoning was, you know, special?
These days it seems like most decks have the player Special Summoning five times as often as they Normal Summon/Set.
A top deck in the OCG meta revolves around tribute summoning. Obligatory mention about a nostalgiafag complaining about something they know nothing about, not realizing that what they want is already in the game.
I sure miss it.
Ever since Synchros were introduced the game has been a combofest.
Nerfing extra summons was a good idea but adding Link summons defeats the point.
Late GX/early 5Ds was when YGO truly came into its own. The "good old days" were a shitty game that wouldn't have survived - let alone thrived - after the initial anime hype died. Everything Magic players usually say about YGO would be true. We need Special Summon spam. It gives the game identity and mechanical flair.
/tv/ couldn't figure it out, what do you think?

Magic.

Dragons work because the world of myth isn't governed by the laws of physics that exist in reality. Dragons fly and breathe fire because it is their nature. Lift is irrelevant.

I'm an anon from /twg/ and I made this general just to ask a question. Vlad was once Neferatta's wife right? Isabella is currently (in total warhammer both are alive) Vlad's wife. What would happen if the two met?
>>54980432
>Vlad was the wife
Hot.
I guess Neferata would say her current blood bag is a better lover and the two groups have a fuck off.
This doujin plot was provided for free.
I'm excited to take Vlad and Izzy on a tropical vacation to Lustria, desu
When exactly did the "fictional characters shouldn't just be evil by default" meme start?
>>54980106
From my guess, you start trying to round out the villains and give them a worldview based on being evil, and it eventually turns into people sympathizing with some elemetn and turning them into dindus
>>54980106
Around the time people started complaining about liberals/leftists demonizing every ideology under the sun.
>>54980469
But doesn't that imply that some ideologies are just evil by default according to them?

I bind efreeti and make them grant me three wishes. Then I use trap the soul on the magic item I give them. Then I usually keep their souls until I figure out what to do with them.
Many times a PC has summoned an extraplanar creature or outsider and made them work for cheap, if they were paid at all. How often is it that PCs are summoned and bound to some odd job though? Has it ever happened to you?

>>54976796
So it has a tier equal to half your level, but gets bonuses equal to twice its tier right? So the bonus will always be equal to your level, or one less than?
Is there any way to improve this? Seems like it'd be pretty shit for social skills before even considering any roleplay obstacles it'd run into.
