Gave arm blades like those to a villain character planned for a 90's superhero setting.
He's an overweight serial killer who slashed people up with knives while skating past on roller blade, then he got caught and put on Death Row but a shadowy organisation faked his death and took him into their employ.
Now hopped up on super steroids and equipped with high-tech roller blades & deadly blades on his arms he serves as one of their deadly assassins/guinea pigs.
He is the KILLER BLADER!

Laser mines. Toss a few of the little dice sized and shaped gubbins in the floor and they spark out short range laser trip-wires opposite whatever surface they landed on. Wall, ceiling, someone's leg... They don't give a shit. They just activate, land and then start shooting a laser to try and burn someone's arm off until you pinch the base to deactivate it.
If you have a lot of time, covering a ball in them before throwing the disco ball of death into a crowd can be useful. A grenade would work better, but it doesn't have the same appeal as a DEATH SPHERE. Good luck reclaiming it afterwards though.

I would like to run a very gritty low fantasy style game, drawing inspiration from the likes of the Dying Earth, the Malazan Book of the Fallen and Dark sun. The sexting is a world that is old and slowly dying, where the gods are many and old and weary, often striking bargains with mortals to gain more power and were magic is powerful but manly takes the form of ancient artifacts, forgotten rituals or powered by bargains made either with dark gods or eldritch beings. I am looking for a system with fast paced but in depth combat and good social mechanics.
I am considering GURPS but have bounced off the system numerous times due to the number of options available occasionally being overwhelming and I am also considering Runequest 6/Mythras but I am concerned that that system might make PCs too geared towards combat.
What would you advice?

I honestly don't know any game with good social mechanics, or at least not ones I'd use that also have depth in combat. You'll probably have to frankenstein it together.
My gut reaction would be Savage Worlds. Apocalypse World (one of the fantasy spinoffs) would fit, but the combat isn't really in depth in it. Strike! has bretty gud tactical combat, but the social mechanics are anemic.

I feel like SW has plenty of simulationist leanings (despite the pulpy feel its going for), aside from maybe bennies, so anything more than that and you are basically looking for simulationist games.
Maybe give Mutants and Masterminds 3 a look? I know it's supposedly a superhero system, but can be used as a lighter GURPS alternative.

In the epic handbook they had examples of things that can be done with skills at levels past 30 which included things up to, and including, climbing up shear smooth surfaces, swimming up a waterfall, and slipping between the spaces of a force cage.
If caster characters can effectively bypass the use of skills with magic shouldn't it make sense for non-casters to be able to do fantastic things with the skills they do have to rely on?
My idea for this would be to tie the level of thing you can do with the revelent modifier for that stat so strength related skills done with a +5 modifer should allow for such characters to do things like leap over a building with a standing jump, suplex a dragon and benchpress boulders otherwise basically replicate certain spells as long as they make the appropriate skill checks or possibly when they crit on the skill.
Could this be made to wor in the framework of 5th edition.
My knee jerk reaction is don't play DnD, but this seems a fairly simple problem of just altering skill DCs to appropriate levels; and informing players of what they're capable of.

As long as the things they can do are appropriate for their level it makes sense that at a level where a wizard can cast invisibility a rogue can crit their stealth and basically become invisible themselves at the same level.
How do you handle characters who max stats at chargen?
at level thirty you are literally more powerful than a fucking god. Roll a level five character in Exalted and just play that.

In its original form, where the girls are mostly like young witches that get into minor situations due to their magic, it's hard to use for a game, like most slice-of-life style series.
But, post Sailor-Moon magical girls, where the genre was combined with sentai conventions, it works fairly well, and the episodic formula is almost ideal for setting up and running game sessions.

I'm just going to throw this in here for fun. Heres my 2k nurgle daemons list. The prince stays with the drones to activate their ability and to be extra killy. The list also has the tallyband ability where plaguebearer units regenerate lost models (I REAALLY hope thats not considered summoning)
