Fuck beer. Cider is where it's at. Probably gonna mix some Kraken black rum into the next one.
Hi /tg/, yesterday I was playing a 1850 point game as Orks versus my friend's Tau. I was tabled by turn 3 (but I technically had one deffkopta left but I forfeited) mainly because of this thing he did with his bloody Stormsurge.
He deployed it on top of a 3 story building where it's base covered the whole roof and stayed still DESPITE the fact that only 30% of his base actually fit completely on the roof and him staying there was all balance. He anchored this beast and I could not EVER charge it because there was no room to make base contact with the model, that meant my ORKS (BS2) had to outshoot his Stormsurge. The Stormsurge alone would of sucked but he ended up also bringing 2 Riptides (1 of which survived 10 Kommandos charging him, taking no wounds), and a shit ton of marker light drones.
So /tg/. Should I have made more of a fuss than I had or just not played? The guys a friend and he doesn't play Tau for the cheese but I feel he is exploiting it.
>>51773403
>Dear /tg/ I play one of the wargames least concerned with balance, for fun, with friends.
>Should I just suffer in silence when someone abuses the terrain?
>Please respond quickly, the only other alternative is to actually talk to my friend, and we all know I wouldn't be here to begin with if I had those kind of social skills.
He's not playing Tau for the cheese but brings a stormsurge and 2 rips in an 1850?
You sure about that?

Will it happen this time; will Twin finally be unbanned in March? Modern has been shit and far more linear since it was removed. It's high time desu. Also, general banlist update thread.
Standard would be better off with a Constrictor and Felidar ban. Snek is way too high in power level (like Copter), and Felidar is draft chaff that they overlooked (like Reflector Mage)
also, unban pod in modern lol
>>51771604
>tfw no legal Twinfu in Modern
>>51771604
If Wizards actually truly cares they need to unban everything from the Modern balnlist that isn't objectively broken or otherwise unhealthy.
Objectively broken/unhealthy meaning cards like Second sunrise and top (because they are physically bad outside the game and have actual hard data to show they increase tournament lengths too much to be allowed) and cards like Blazing Shoal and Mental Misstep. Objectively broken.
Cards like Bloodbraid, GSZ, Jace (yes Jace), Deathrite Shaman, Twin, and Pod all need to be unbanned and allowed a chance in the meta together. Then sort out what actually needs to be banned in the meta, not decide the bans in a fucking vacuum.
Of course Wizards will never do that because MaRo has already admitted they don't want to support Modern anymore because the pro players complain about tournament format other than Standard and limited.
How would you go about setting a game in the Spirit World depicted in Studio Ghibli's renowned "Spirited Away?"
A world connected to but separate from our own; bright, colorful and whimsical but also full of trials and dangers.
What sorts of locales and locations exist in such a Spirit World, waiting for the player characters to explore?
What sorts of ghosts, monsters and gods wait to trick or treat with the player characters as they travel the land?
What sorts of goals and quests and desires are the player characters trying to fulfill individually or together?
Locations:
>A mystical old railway station where the PCs wake up after falling asleep on the train home after a long night.
>An endless forest with trees that grow bigger and bigger, taller and taller the deeper the PCs push into it.
>A sunny stretch of road that seems to loop back on itself somehow, always returning to the same cafe.
Characters:
>A small god of mild misfortune that has taken to tagging along with the PCs, lightly vexing their travels.
>The cheerful shadow of a girl cast by the light of a magic lantern the PCs found left on the roadside.
>A large family of mercantile spirits that seem to sell whatever the PCs need, wherever thy need it, for a price.
Quests:
>One of the PCs' friends has gone missing and must be found before they can all return to the real world.
>A strange old man possessing strange powers has been roaming the land causing trouble for the spirits.
>A grumpy old god has demanded that the PCs offer him entertainment in the form of tall tales and stories.

The Whimsey of the spirit realms Ghibli conjures are all based on traditional folklore and hidden lore. The nature of their mystery is rooted in the obfuscation of the lore itself. You can't hope to have notes and write it out; by that very act you betray the nature of the realm.

Topic of the Thread: What do you think of the LVO tourney results for DFC?
>>51638921
im concerned that there was no UCM represented, and what that potentially implies, also the top 2 were shaltari, and were both sporting Diamonds, and spamming voidgates which is also concerning.
>>51639078
To be fair, there were only 10 entrants. After Adepticon and UKGX we can make a better judgement on how popular UCM are. I think the former has something around 24 entrants.
It's no surprise how powerful Diamonds are, and I personally think they should stay as they are, but possibly be bumped up to a PHR BB's cost, maybe even more, maybe even up to a full 300 points.
It's little wonder why voidgate spam was so effective, as no one brought any corvettes! Once they hit shelves and people start involving them in their lists, I imagine that massed gate spam won't be as much of an issue.
Alternately, it's possibly that gates might even have their cost bumped up to 16 or 17 even.
>>51638921
A reminder of the lists, 1st place was a Shaltari with 4 motherships and 12 voidgates, with some obsidians, opals and a Diamond.
Second place had more voidgates, less motherships, and 3 turquoises instead of the obsidians.
third place was a double Basilisk, double hydra list with a few djinns and decent strike capacity in a Chimera and 4 gargoyles. only list to bring corvettes, with 3 nickars.
4th place was phr with 3 bellephrons, 2 orpheus cruisers, 6 medeas, 1 ganymede.
I will say I think the heavy voidgate spam for Shaltari was pretty well rectified in the FAQ that came out. those things are gonna die in droves to corvettes. I do think corvettes will need to come out and give those that don't want to kitbash their options though.
UCM not showing up happens. I think we need someone to actually bring a UCM list before we start worrying, considering how small the tourney was. We'll have to get another tourney or two's results.

I was looking for the generic version of the ruleset. I mean, there are like 50 fucking hacks of it, I assumed there would be generic rules floating around to modify. And apparently the only version of those rules is a non-existant game created by an infuriating tranny.
>>51777459
you can't really get generic PbtA rules, the entire premise is you base the rules very strictly around the genre you're emulating, no genre, no rules. Simple World was more of a guide to hacking it than a generic system (it even says in the book for SW 'do not actually try to run a campaign in Simple World')

WHY THE FUCK AREN'T ANY OF YOU GIRLS WEARING PANTS WHAT KIND OF SCHOOL IS THIS I DON'T WANT TO GO TO JAIL I NEED A COP AHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm planning a homebrew pirate campaign set in a historically accurate 18th century Caribbean. I'm going for a sense of realism and want the sailing mechanics to be quite detailed and interactive but I have a rather pedestrian knowledge of sailing.
Planned mechanics so far:
-Hull cleanliness deteriorates over time affecting the speed of the ship, port and starboard side will have individual values which leads in to...
-Careening, the act of beaching your ship in high tide and cleaning the exposed side in low tide, you have to maintain both sides to protect hull integrity
-Keelhauling, this will really fuck up anyone who goes through it but a cleaner hull will have much higher survivability rates than a dirty, barnacle laden hull which can lead to loss of limbs and even decapitation
-When the players eventually get multiple ships and form a fleet, during overworld map travel there will be free communication between players, but during battle phases crews will be sent to separate voice channels named after their respective ship and have to communicate in battle using a flag communication system of their own making
I'm just getting started here, are there any salty sea dogs that can help me flesh out the realism of ship maintenance, operation and combat? Links to existing DnD systems and laymen friendly educational resources both welcomed and appreciated.

>historically accurate
>using D&D
fucking why
>>51737127
Why not? The idea is to drops players in a rough simulation of the setting and from there they can make their own adventures and alter history as they please. The historical accuracy ends as soon as the campaign begins.

Because I'm a sappy weeb loser I want to run a totally-not-Trails in the Sky RPG with the players as young apprentice adventurers doing odd jobs and minor conspiracy stuff in a comfy fantasy world as a kind of practical adventuring exam. Is this a suitable system for that, or does it need the school setting?
>>51721398
The system kind of relies on magic, the characters are all meant to be spellcasters. I guess it could be possible to fluff it up otherwise though, and the new version in the works might be better in that regard.
The setting is perfectly interchangable with any other, though.
