Is this guy seriously the only non-spooked mathematician in academia right now?

>b-but, muh axiom of infinity!
Are you really going to base an entire field of study on some bullshit Cantor pulled out of his ass when he didn't prepare any lecture notes? You might as well make the statement "A Sasquatch exists" an axiom in biology. It is truly indefensible.

brainlet here but couldn't this be a result of them operating in higher dimensions?

like two dots on the opposite sides on an arc of paper could seem very far away from 2D creatures but 3D creatures can fold the paper and set them next to another

like maybe they're just next to eachother looking from a higher dimension

If I'm standing at 0,0 on a "x,y" coordinate graph facing to the right and looking straight on at a 90degree angle and there is an object above me at "2,3" on the graph, to what angle degree would I have to tilt my head up to look directly at the object?

For argument sake, I am simply a dot. I don't have a human body. My head is oriented exactly at 0,0.

Thanks, I do appreciate it any help toward at least pointing me in the right direction.

Is 1 a prime number or not ?
19 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>9101656
Depends. When you write your book on number theory do you want to waste more ink in every theorem by stating "except for 1" after making any claim of the form "show that for every prime"? No right? Good.
>>
>>9101656
a prime number is defined as one that has only two whole number factors: the number itself, and one.

Since the only whole number factor of 1 is itself, it does not meet the condition of a prime number.
>>

>Any day now and there will be proof!
It's fancy math at best. Ideally there should be experiments that can be performed between ST, QT and GR. Depending on the scenario, if ST is correct, there are cases where ST can provide correct predictions that neither QT or GR can provide. In other scenarios, ST should reduce down to QT or GR.

We have yet to see experiments carried out. I'm not holding my breath.

Explain this IQ fags.
>paid for a real IQ test, scored 99 at the age of 22. Didn't know any maths at this point, didn't even know how to add fractions (I fell through the education system).
>spent the next 27 months learning maths from little kiddy level to the level of first year undergraduate in Denmark.
>Redid the IQ test at the age of 25. Scored 122.
There's a 2 year + interval in between both tests with no testing in between.
I consciously did this to see whether learning maths would make a difference.

I almost bought into IQ tests and genetics for intelligence by race but then I read about how the Jews were retard tier at the turn of the century and now they get good scores.
I think its culture not genetics.
>>
>>9101227
One of the biggest complains about IQ tests is that the patterns that are tested are generally mathematical in nature so practice in mathematics will most likely artificuly boost your score due to familiarity. Though for the general population this isn't a huge problem as most barely remember basic algebra. But comparing certain groups against others could be problematic. Which is why psychologist have other widely used cognitive tests.
>>
>>9101227
explain why any of what you're talking about matters. Unless you do something with your IQ, it's just a useless number

Can science explain why jerking off feels better after I take Benadryl? What does histamine receptor blockade have to do with the male sexual cycle?

Benedryl makes you drowsy

Take a benzo or a sleeping pill for 10x results

It's not the histamine receptor blockade, it's the serotonin transporter inhibition. It's the serotonin that makes you feel good, but diphenhidramine isn't as powerful as antidepressants for that, so it doesn't make your dick go limp, whilst enjoying the benefits of slightly higher extracelular serotonin.

I prefer physical textbooks because I can never really take online pdfs or stuff like that as seriously. However online pdfs and all are useful for working when you're not at home, since all you need is your phone and your notebook.

There's that word again...

Why did it take 2000 years for someone to disprove Aristotlean physics? I understand that the prevalent epistemology among the intellectual elite was rationalism, but I still find it hard to believe nobody bothered to do experiments until Galileo and his contemporaries. The top tier people in Aristotle's day were just as intelligent as now, so that disqualifies lack of intelligence. What explanation is left other than a huge 2000 year fuck up on the part of the intellectual elite?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>9100268
Simple. If you disprove a theory but you have no replacement or fix then it is pointless. It is not like Aristotle claimed absolute truth.
>>
>>9100268
Newton didn't *disprove* Aristotelian physics, he just extended it. Good read below on this topic.

>I show that Aristotelian physics is a correct and non-intuitive approximation of Newtonian physics in the suitable domain (motion in fluids), in the same technical sense in which Newton theory is an approximation of Einstein's theory. Aristotelian physics lasted long not because it became dogma, but because it is a very good empirically grounded theory. The observation suggests some general considerations on inter-theoretical relations.
